1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | PoW/PoS | Redesigned GUI & Wallet | Full Time Devs on: June 03, 2014, 12:59:31 PM
Is there a known issue with the new Windows wallet version 1.0.8?  It crashes every time I try to run it.  The splash screen comes up for about a second, then gone.  Over and over.  I deleted everything from AppData\Roaming\Silkcoin except the wallet, same deal.  If I delete that folder, when I start the wallet that folder gets recreated but no files are.  I had the same issue with 1.0.7.

I am running version v1.0.6.0-g32a928e successfully on Windows 7 Pro x64 SP 1. Any ideas?  I have run 1.0.8 on the desktop (standalone) and in the folder for 1.0.6.

Thanks ahead.

(Why, yes I voted on mintpal!  Have you?)

can i roll a blunt in time?

That's not even a question.  One can ALWAYS roll a blunt "on time".   On-Time is relative.

This messaging feature rumor about cinni sounds interesting. I used the BItmessage protocol for some time just for fun, which I think is a similar concept but with PoW.

A PoS distributed messaging system could indeed be interesting and I hope rat4 is considering something like that.

Anonymous chat using addresses seems like a very easy implementation to be honest...

That's so cool though ! Would be sweet if someone put a game on the wallet too? like flappy-... oh wait...

/sarcasm

I'm not a big fan of gimmicks. There are thousands of chatting programs already that do it better. Why fill up the QT code with extra bells and whistles?
yeah it actually does make as much sense as building a twitter or facebook thingy in there.
i dunno how it would be done, but kind of p2p would be insanity since you would tell someone the IP he needs to hack to get by your wallet... cannot imagine that the messages would become part of the blockchain Wink

The blockchain messages would go thusly: "I gave out my IP and all my coins got stolen!"  "Me too.  I have a new wallet now, so I have to give out a new IP"  "Isn't it the same?"  "No, this wallet has coins in it"

I ordered my card on 4/14 -- txid a92e3c92b98ff0f272f584518189364d6705cb71a13f2623c08d6f63a1c142df

I have not received anything - what's the story now?  I live all the way in PA so I'm not one of those "international orders" which take a long shipping time.  I was also definitely one of the first and bought the Limited Edition, not some second wave version which "hasn't shipped yet".

So, where's my card?

Quote
Today I am stepping away from the forum for 24 hours. I want to focus on filling the card orders because I am getting a bit annoyed regarding people posting fud about the cards. They do not understand I am not a factory or Amazon, and we can only fill a certain amount of orders per day. We had pre orders of over 330 cards and we are not just mailing empty cards.

Here is the process:

1. Software is transferred to each card.
2. Card and software is checked to be working correctly.
3. Card is placed in a plastic bag.
4. Card + plastic bag is placed in a black protective sleeve.
5. Security sticker is placed over the protective sleeve.
6. Everything is placed in one more plastic bad and then heat shrinked.
7. "card package" is then "glued" on a glossy instruction sheet.
8. Entire contents is placed in a First Class envelope.
9. Labels are printed and package is ready to ship.

So please have some patience. Over time the process will become more streamlined.

I am being patient.  It's been three weeks so I followed up.  I'll do the same next week if it hasn't arrived.

I'm curious about my wallet settings. Do I need to leave the wallet unlocked when I turn off my computer? It's locked every time I open up the wallet and I have to unlock with my password. Will this prohibit me from gaining interest with my PoS? (I'm new to the cryptocurrency world). Cheers for any info
Just checked myself... You are right, we need to unlock it every time. Let's wait for a reply from someone of knowledge.

My wallet is encrypted, but it needs to be unlocked to stake:

1. In the wallet app, click Help -> Debug Window
2. Click Console Tab
3. On the command line enter: walletpassphrase <your wallet pass phrase> 999999 true

This will unlock the wallet for MINTING ONLY and is safe.  Put in your wallet passphrase in the <> above ( your wallet IS encrypted, right?)

Thanks for the info, although I just followed those instructions and got this message back:  Error: The wallet passphrase entered was incorrect. (code -14). I entered my password and that happened

Make sure to leave out the <> symbols: if your password is PASSWORD then enter this: walletpassphrase PASSWORD 999999 true

So if your pass phrase was bob you would enter:
walletpassphrase bob 999999 true

The 999999 is seconds.

It's funny with so many dishonest thieves all in one place I don't understand how any of you can trust the other. It sure looks like one of you is lying and selling off more coins than they should be

And....ignored.  Wow, it's getting easier and easier to spot and ignore the trolls before they get fed and grow into a week-long monster.

Can someone please give me a rough idea how many people are holding blackcoin and / or how many wallets there are.  I'm working on something and need this info.  Thanks.

Try this link: http://agran.net/bc_getbalance.php?top=100 and if you change the 100 to a 10000, you should get all wallets with something in them.  If you want to know how many wallets there are, including zero-balance ones, make the 10000 a gazillion.

I need to apologize to gazim. He was the initial person who write the code lines for the Live Ticker, but because I'm not a developer I didn't knew what to do exactly with those lines. Amacar delivered a easiest way to implement it. Amacar received the 25k Bounty for this project and Gazim will receive 15k for his effort.

Apology accepted.  I will return half of the bounty to USDe as was my original intention.  Please supply the USDe address where that donation will do the most good.

I also implore amacar to return half the bounty.  We both know you didn't write half the code you were inadvertently paid for (specifically, the php part).  So it only makes sense to it give back to the community.

Does anyone know how to make a script, using coinmarket.io Api?
It's in java, jquery.
The idea is to make a live ticker something similar like on coinmarketcap and coinwarz that would show, total coin mined, difficulty, value in btc and value in USD.

Bounty 25k USDe

Hey folks!  I've written a USDe-Ticker API and submitted it, and just didn't want anyone wasting time duplicating efforts.

If anyone wants the php-ajax code, I'll be happy to post it.

is coinmarket.io safe?

Yes.  It goes down from time to time, but it has proven to be a safe site.

Okay...I'm throwing in the towel..........not with USDe of course, you think I'm stupid? Grin

I live in Portland Oregon, USA. I have been trying so many different sites and all of them seem too sketchy, or downright horrendous to try and use.
Can someone tell me, step by step, the best sites (or combination of them if required) to use so that I can easily xfer USD to an exchange that supports the purchasing of USDe. I would prefer to use c-cex but some methods of xfer won't work for me because of my location, or my visa/mastercard doesn't support international exchanging. If anybody knows the best/fastest/most convenient way to get USD onto C-cex without being raped by fees as high as 10%, please let me know
All I want to frikking do is add funds to c-cex without having to first add them to some other sketch website that I then send to c-cex, wait for the xfer to confirm (however long it takes), and buy some damn USDe/BTC/etc.

tl;dr I live in America and want to turn USD into BTC/USDe....what is the fastest, easiest, most convenient way.

I'm also in the US and I've gone with Coinbase.com for USD->BTC then withdrew from that site to my BTC wallet.  Then it's just a simple matter of sending BTC to whichever exchange for purchases.  It probably works the same in reverse, but since I've only been buying I can't elaborate on the selling side.

Note: you will have to give them a lot of banking info and in order to do instant buys via credit card you will have to give them all the details AND wait a while for verification.  Which is not unreasonable considering BTC purchases/sales are non-reversible.

So Cryptsy is all screwed up ~ at least for me.  Sold some other altcoin to buy USDe and when I fill out the form and click withdraw it fades out and just sits there.  Minute after minute......... just looking at me.  Can ANYBODY withdraw from crypstsy?  Or once you're in you're fucked?  Yes, that was intentional.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I am seeing coins flowing in... But it's not what I'm expecting lol

...in what way is it not as expected?  That it counts as mining instead of transfer from a pool?  Or something else?

What does this all mean ? Coin dead ?

What the hell is wrong with you?  Anything anyone says you start "Chicken Lilttle"ing --- "The sky is falling!  The coin is dead!  Sell Sell!"

Get a grip and shut the fuck up.  I am sick of you and am blocking you.  You have never uttered a single useful syllable.  All you do is try to drag everybody down.  Go fuck yourself and piss in some other coin's thread.
