1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Just bought a 400GH/s ASIC Now what on: February 22, 2014, 02:48:35 AM
Where is the best place to mine? what are the pros and cons of mine by yourself or in a pool? Im as new as gets gets to mining.

400gh used to be good. They are currently making 36.00 a day. And in six days that is going to drop o 25.00 a day. Hope you didn't pay much. I mine with 410gh and its so low with difficulty.

I got a problem when i was rearranging the antminers to get better airflow one of the small parts fell off
Sadly it looks like it never was soldered firm on the board
I have not even touch those at all i was just replacing the ant thats all
Can i solder it myself or do i risk damaging some nearby part if i do.
I only have a simple small solder tool which i used when i made my own flip flop boards back in the previous century

Or do i need to contact bitmain to replace it ?

Mine did the same thing. I soldered it back on and everything worked perfect. :-)

Yes. Type vi /etc/....

Vi comes on all Linux favors. No need to install.

Sorry about that. I clicked on the pics. Change wan. It's working now.  These are a lot quiter than expected. Running two machines and can barley hear them even being overclocked

How do U change the IP address on the antminer 180gh. Both mine have the same ip setup

How loud do these get?  I have a 50gh bfl and its pretty loud.  I heard some youtube videos but that dosent really do much.  I was going to change the fan out with a 19db cool master 100cfm and add a second to the rear sucking the heat out.  Since the fans are really quiet this should cut down on the sound.  Right?

You would need USB inputs for that to work. Im in the same boat. Just ordered two 180gh and currently I have 2 5gh bfl miners on a pi. Just gonna keep those on the pi since these new 180gh has their own gui.

Can you point other miners over lan to this to merge in and mine together?
The only way is to use the same worker name. They will combine totals on your pool.

Is there an easy step by step instruction for overclocking these units to above 200Gh/s? And when I say easy, I mean each step is clearly explained, rather then just saying "SSH into the miner and change the config file..."  I am not all too familiar with SSH. Right now I have PuTTY and winscp525, but I don't know any commands or anything so I don't know how to edit files or navigate in it. Any help will be appreciated.

Connect putty to the address, via port 22

Once you login do the following commands

vi /etc/config/asic-freq
Press the letter i to get a prompt
Change the required stuff.
Then hit escape and ctrl zz. (This will save the file and exit)
Restart.

If you still can't get it setup team viewer and ill login and you can watch me change if for you.

Thanks for the info. I run that fan on my 5gh miner. Really quiet. But it's only  70cfm. I'll be returning those once they come in. Just ordered two more factory fans too put on the back.  You are exiting the hot air out the second  fan?  Wouldn't the hot air just rise if both fans were blowing in?  Just curious cause I'm about to do this setup like you have. Also if i overclock both can I run one 1200 watt PSU for both miners.

I ordered four noctua 120mm fans. Replace existing fan and put a second on the other end.  Would this accommodate over-clocking. Also any recommendations on a PSU to run both machines.

.03 is that for running two at 360gh or just one at 180. Thanks

I just ordered two of these. Can someone tell me the current BTC fractions they are earning daily for one?  Thanks

I just bought two Bitmain Antminer S1 180GH/S.  I know I need to wire a power supply for it but does anyone have a good recommendation for a 1000watt psu that will run both miners vs getting two separate psu. Also I ordered 4 Noctua 120mm fans to put on each end to help cooling. I'm replacing the factory fan but on the other end would I make it exit or blow towards the cards?  Although that seems like a silly questions since all the hot air will rise since it's all open. I guess I answered that questions myself. Unless my thinking is wrong...thanks for the help
