If anyone's looking for another dev now, I'm up for grabs. Out of school and down to help continue this idea.

Greydon,
I want to divest my funds from your site

What was your username on CD?

Did you receive it?  I have not heard back from you.

The site and chat is back online, message me there Smiley I sent your funds to your address.

So dead coin?
Thanks Gabriel

Hey Markov,

Not dead. Just impossible to work on all aspects he wanted to complete all on his own. It seemed the interest was quite niche, but he might still be developing on his off time. I'm working on getting the explorer and other services back online, I've been away for some time.

Sorry for the lack of communication,
Greydon

Version 0.9.2.0 of Credits client released. Release includes among a lot of other things a hard fork at block 50000

A new release of the Credits client is out now. This is a long overdue version that focuses on pulling updates from bitcoin into the client, and on updates to be able to add new features further on.

Updates in this release:
0.9.2.1 is a major release. However, no updates to the working directory are neccessary when installing.
- NOTE!! Hard fork will occur at block 50000.
- Version number bumped to .80 to indicate hard fork version
- Deposit transactions will be allowed to have more than one input. This will enable the wallet (in the release after this one) to automatically create deposits from any content that you have in a wallet.
- The number of deposit transactions in a block will be allowed up to a maximum of 1000, updated from previously 10. This will make it easier to enable pooled mining, with externally provided deposits.
- Changed difficulty adjustment algorithm at block 50 000. The new diff adjustment algorithm will be much faster. It will update every 252 blocks with a max adjustment factor of 2 up or down. Adjustment speed will be 64 times higher than current diff adjustment. The reason for this is twofold:
   1. To prevent block generation from being stuck if a sudden drop in mining power occurs.
   2. In the future when deposit mining will be more and more important, preventing the block generation from being stuck if deposits are being withheld.
- Several updates from bitcoin main branch included into release, to bump version to 0.9.2.x
- Among the updates from bitcoin main branch is estimatefee/estimatepriority functionality

--------------------------------

How to Upgrade
If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait until it has completely
shut down (which might take a few minutes for older versions), then run the
installer (on Windows) or just copy over /Applications/Credits-Qt (on Mac) or
creditsd/credits-qt (on Linux).

!!!BEFORE YOU START THE WALLET, MAKE SURE TO MAKE BACKUP COPIES OF THE FILES CREDITS_WALLET.DAT
AND BITCOIN_WALLET.DAT, IF YOU HAVE A PREVIOUS INSTALLATION.!!!

The syncing process can be quite long, depending on your computer and your network. Between one and two days is not uncommon, if you are not initialising from a prebuilt working directory, distributed with a torrent.

Start credits-qt with the command:
credits-qt.exe -reindex -checklevel=2

or start creditsd with the command:
creditsd.exe -reindex -checklevel=2

Once installation is done, we highly recommend you to bootstrap the blockchain download and sync by downloading an up to date working directory:
Quick initialisation from torrent file

Looks good Gabe, I'll try it out! I've been away as well, but good to see the updates being pushed Smiley

It seems that no body is providing deposit during mining. Any reason for that? They do not mind the 20% penalty?

It's not that sharp of a punishment yet, and clearly miners don't mind the diff increase in return for less funds tied up. Makes sense, as it's still very early in the system's active phase.

Is there a way to datadir= the bitcoin blockchain location? There is really no need for me to have two separate bitcoin blockchains present on my computer is there?

No, you don't need both... the credits wallet has both! You can send/receive bitcoins as well as CRE. Even if you only wanted to use Bitcoin, the Credits wallet is more efficient, seeing as you get full functionality for Bitcoin while having a greatly reduced size for your BTC blocks.

TL;DR : 4GB dir for BTC+CRE wallet, or 45GB for a bitcoin only wallet.

Gabriel had some real life shit to do recently but he'll be back in a few hours probably, we have plans for an in-wallet exchange, cutting out the middle man and allowing for 0% fee p2p trading. It's always good to have exposure on an exchange , but c-cex isn't huge. The new wallet is really marketable, it's a lightweight Bitcoin AND Credits wallet, all in the small trimmed working directory.

Just because a coin isn't hyped, doesn't mean it has no value. CRE has a ton of value, and arguably has the highest potential of any crypto in existence right now. I plan on sticking with the coin and community, you never know what might happen. I think it might be useful to get another/multiple other people that can develop for the coin as well, since Gabriel understandably has his hands full doing all the wallet work himself.

Anyways, I'm happy to see you guys around and I'll try to get gabriel in here asap!

LONG LIVE CRE

+1

In all honesty i don't beleive we will be de-listed from c-cex..

But in the event we are. Another exchange will likely take us on.
I'm sitting on my CRE for now until someone develops a service where I can give it to miners for a chunk of their profit..

LONG LIVE CRE

I'll explore that possible service Cheesy

I wasn't aware you were all waiting for me to patch/polish this gambling website for the launch of your wallet, sheesh hah. If I knew I had that kind of responsibility I would have spent less time fucking around. Will finish it for andu/you folks that still want to give GRF a shot.

UPDATE:

Creditsdice.com chat is back, with a new update!

Change log

CreditsDice version 1.1:

Notes: This patch is the first in a set of updates to be released. This version does not include the invest feature, but it is added in the next release.

  Chat:

    - New chat system in place, following the "look and feel" of the previous chat update. (uses React, and Ratchet, for websocket handling)
(This new chat engine is much more efficient, is easy to alter, and sets a good tone for future development)

    - All user messages are now the same color (Tips, PMs, and other system/special messages are colored accordingly)

    - Xss vulnerabilities patched

    - Getting chat history is redone with the new engine, to push messages from the chat server itself instead of grab from the DB. (This escapes user injected scripts which wouldn't show 'onMessage')

 Frontpage:

    - Chat window size adjusted 70% -> 85%

    - Invest tab added, to tease you.

  General:

    - Placing bet speed improved, as place.php no longer makes a $wallet->getbalance() call every time a bet is placed to check is against the max profit. That max profit is now static, updated by me.

    - Removed redundant functions and ajax methods, as well as clearing up the global scope of functions on setInterval at any given time.
       (basically, things are smoother overall)

    - Various minor bug fixes/tweaks

Thanks for sticking with us, and sorry for the delay. The new chat engine is by far the largest amount of code/work put into this update, and took a week of learning new libraries and implementations of websockets. However, learning is good!

Cheers,
Greydon

What is happening with creditsdice.com website ?

It is always down for long time now  Huh

Hey, sorry about that I've just had multiple things I'm doing at once. I'm upgrading the chat as well as making the site more secure in general.

The website isn't down however, you can still place bets etc.. everything is functional. Just the user Chat is disabled at this point and under maintenance. I'll maybe add the old system back in meantime so we can all still talk!
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the 1MB limit will centralize bitcoin on: September 10, 2015, 06:12:21 PM
That sounds very inconvenient for merchants and confusing for customers.

Bitcoin needs to be easier to use. As one of the Winklevoss twins said: people shouldn't have to deal with Bitcoin addresses.

Well actually it would be much simpler if you had an app that let you spend your Starbucks credits when you go to that store (with no need for a Bitcoin address to do so). As a payment system Bitcoin *sucks* as it is much easier to use virtually any other existing payment system (why people have got so enthused about Bitcoin as a payment system is actually beyond me).

If you find Bitcoin too hard to use then you use a fiat exchange to get your credits - so those that don't want to see a Bitcoin address don't need to and actually most likely don't want to use Bitcoin at all (all they want is a coffee). Smiley

Also trying to shove every single tx in the world into the blockchain is just plain stupid (and doesn't actually make things easier as it will just overload the network to the point you'd be waiting until your coffee got cold before the payment was accepted).

Did someone say Starbucks "Credits"? I think having the large businesses using their own coin would be interesting.. would allow a developed sidechain coin like CRE to find a niche!

In terms of bitcoin becoming more centralized, that's just inevitable as large entities see different ways to exploit Bitcoin for profits. Not everyone cares about the future of the coin, many just care about their return on investment.

Hey thief, why don't you donate to the faucet  Smiley

It would be a good signal.

Clear your conscience - if you have one...

You're very funny Grin. I hope he will send again all to dev and dev will make massive giveaway. Grin

Well, I'll post a notice somewhere on the site to maybe he would see it if he visits again. Hopefully we could still see some of that back.

Can anyone explain what exactly has happened here? Why is this coin a con?

I'd like to know more about the hack too. Seems like the dev is a victim (not common in this world Grin)

It's not that I was the victim specifically, but I was blamed or slightly targeted for something I was not at fault for. Yeah, that happens a lot. Also, if the thief sent the GRF back, it would belong to Tramese, so any giveaway would be under his watch and will haha.

Have a quick question on prepared deposits.  Why does it take 101 confirmations to get the extra change back?

It's not a big deal I was just curious. Smiley

It's because a block reward (a coinbase tx) can be used as deposit directly. Or rather, a deposit tx can spend the coinbase tx in the same block. If the deposit change could be spent straight away, you would be able to get around the coinbase maturity rule by directly spending the coinbase tx with a deposit tx and sending everything as change. That's the simple reason the restriction is there.

You could of course argue that the restriction only should be there if the deposit tx spends a coinbase tx. To simplify the validation of blocks, however, the rule is applied to all deposit txs.

Took me a couple re-reads to understand that, but would it be possible to change that rule? Or add some catch in the source for deposit transactions which use a coinbase tx?

Also, Yeah! Very good job! I got the torrent and was synced in less than an hour Smiley

Hey all, I'm the developer from GRFdice. Yes the coins were removed from the wallet hosted on the server. The access IP for this withdrawal (it was from the administrator panel) was the same IP c-dog used to log in to site on his own account.

The script itself was a version of coindice, from around February this year. I have been making significant improvements to it in CreditsDice.com, and it is essentially a completely different script. I've worked on multiple other projects and yes, and I would be aware of any backdoor into the code. 90% of the code is my own, while only around 10% remains as the backbone structure of the files/layout.

I've had two separate people come and attempt to gain access to multiple parts of the site, and i have paid them and patched any flaws they found.

In short, this loss was not the fault of my code, but c-dog's access point. He left a remote desktop connection server open on his PC, and had the administrator password to the site, available in a text file.

I have removed the ability to withdraw from the admin panel, therefore this issue is no longer even possible from my own administrator panel in case this were to happen to my computer, or anyone got into the panel.

I compensated some users on CreditsDice.com, which he had paid me 0.3 for. Hope this information helps! See you on Creditsdice Wink

Thanks for the update, did C-dog confirmed it to you, has him any proof that his machine got hacked, or how someone took his admin login to the site?

alright guys...update,  cdog has fully paid me back 8.8 btc...kudos to him

So C-dog is paying back the user who had a loss in the dice site. DId you have 8 BTC worth in graffiti in that dice?
Make this part clear.
No problem!

Yes he had 8 BTC ish of GRF, he was the primary investor.

I have received no proof from c-dog but the only information I can access and see is that his computer IP made the withdrawal from the admin panel, any information regarding how that happened, and evidence of it, needs to be provided by him.
