I would really suggest to follow  tradingview.com BTC analysts - some of the PRO-s there are  quite prescise in forecasting the trends.

I would a do the due diligence just as for buying stocks. Is there a real company behind it, that gives real value that has something to show and something gone. Real people all that. 

All in all  I would say 90% of alts will not survive or  are not  enough viable.
