It seems that Canada is building one... or actually it is Google building it in Canada. Now some of the people working with setting the whole thing up have found that it is a smart city that is being built for surveillance rather than privacy.
Agreed. A lot of this smart cities don't value privacy that much. Sure it's a high tech city where everything is probably digitized, but when it comes to having a privacy? Yeah. Good luck having one. Most likely the Mayor/government of that smart city will have access to everything about you and your family.

But what about VR? Virtual reality can give one the feeling he's physically real with no affected limbs or other organs. Right? There's no pain in VR but there is pain outside VR.. and you still feel it. Even though your mind is just playing a game. What on earth does virtual reality have to do with achieving immortality? And how? Do you just put you VR headset on and boom, you're immortal? I think you should rethink what your definition of immortality is my friend. Creating an avatar on your favorite VR game doesn't make you immortal. Besides, immortality is not possible, so good luck with that.

Yes and no. Transistors are already smaller than blood cells. Powering the transistors are quite tricky; they could run using biological engines.
However, it's quite difficult to build machines to detect "cancer cell vs normal blood cell" at a nano scale. I agree with this. Even if curing cancer could be made possible by nanobots, only the wealthy would be able to afford it as I expect it to be extremely expensive. Especially if it will garner 100% cure, these nanobot treatment won't come cheap I'm sure. And I agree with the Jet Cash, it might be better if they focus more on maintaining healthy immune systems. Not that this isn't a great idea. But using it as preventive measure will be more beneficial especially to families that have history of cancer.

China, definitely. They're the only country that has the balls to recruit kids to create killer AI weapons for them because why the hell not. They're already planning and ready for an all out war. The US may have kickass ammunition but China's got a billion dollar to fund for their AI weapons alone.

Blockchain technology is the future so it's a great news that schools are starting to add it to their curriculum now, but maybe they should start teaching about blockchain in High School or at least the 5th graders onwards. Teaching a 5-year old or 2nd and 3rd graders may be too early for blockchain education. Universities should also add blockchain education in their curriculum, like Statistics and Algebra and things like that.

If the graph is fractal, at the end of 2019, the market will begin to grow and continue its growth throughout 2020 to explode upwards in 2021.
Yes, and I'm staying positive myself, but how high could bitcoin's price rise by the end of 2019? Do you think this $4000-6000 will stay as the new normal for bitcoiners next year? Can we expect a little raise, maybe up to $10k, hopefully?

I'm not entirely sure if the 69 year old man is being sarcastic, raising a different kind of awareness against transgenders, or he just really wants his age to be legally changed to 49. But wouldn't changing his age from 69 to 49 be all for nothing if he eventually falls sick? Plus, instead of begging to have his age change to 20 years younger, I think he should rally for life longevity instead, as well as increased healthspan. That will be more beneficial to him than literally just changing his age.

The number of altcoins is very much at the moment and it is impossible for everyone to know one by one. And then, every person who will invest and choose some coins he chooses then he will do some special research and seek more information about the coin, on average they will only see altcoin in the top one hundred positions and ignore the altcoin position afterwards there is only some suggestions from some friends who already have experience investing in cryptocurrency or suggestions from some experts he believes. You are related to the altcoin that you mentioned. I just got to know you, I don't know more about the new altcoin.
I agree, and I think this is one of the setbacks with cryptocurrency. There's just so many coins that keeps popping out that, while some really do serve a purpose (for a legit project or whatnot), you just can't help but be suspicious because you've never heard of it. I think you nailed it. If OP is interested in investing in this Virie, he better do thorough research as to what it is and who's behind it. I think in this case, that Virie is at a disadvantage for now because if what Luke_Turner said was true, it hasn't been launched yet. That would really make it sound suspicious imo.

I always believe that if human brain can think of it, it can very well make it possible. I mean who thought we will ever come up with something like virtual currency?
Do you think (even if hypothetically), a virtual world will give us a chance to introspect and find the missing links of the real world? By setting up the rules for the new world, will we realize what we did wrong with the real world?
It's not so much as "if you can think it you can make it possible" it's about execution. Immortality doesn't work like that, and it's not even remotely possible. It's not like mining a bitcoin, you're talking a life here. How do you think immortality will be achieved? Because there isn't a technology that can make this possible. Even with a super powerful computer, you still can't be sure it will make you immortal.

Well, what is even the point of giving AI human-level of emotions? Why would we want them to have emotional intelligence? What exactly will it achieve, giving AI emotions? I'm all for artificial intelligence, but emotional intelligence is the least thing I envision or want it to have.

Depends on what the purpose of the microchip is. What does it do? How much does it cost? Will it have adverse effect in the long run? Will it give me long life? If there's a viable answer to all these, then hell yeah, I'm getting microchipped. If there's no real use to it, then I'm not wasting money for it.

A billion people in five years may be a bit much. Will more people use cryptocurrency in the next five years? It's possible. Will it reach to a billion people? I doubt it. Unless some big company starts accepting bitcoin as payment, or some big celebrities start endorsing it, the "crypto world" may have a hard time achieving this goal. But if it happens, then it's definitely going to be good for the market.

Depends on what you mean by living "forever". Does it mean not having a choice to die or living for thousands of years looking young but still has a choice when I want to die? If it's the first one, then you can take it, I don't want it. If it's the latter then absolutely! I don't care if it's through altering my DNA or some other technology. If it will stop or slow down my aging process, allowing me then to live for a long time, then heck yeah! Sign me up!

I don't know about skipping meal every other day but you could practice intermittent fasting. That and living a healthy lifestyle and exercising. This should help you live longer. It won't stop aging but it will help you age gracefully.

Virtual reality in general has a lot of potential, but it will take someone really good to be able to create an ad in VR. Not only that, it also has to be an ad of a big company, otherwise it may not work at all. Why? Because VR isn't cheap. That alone serves as an hindrance already.

|
|
With the kind of technology we have now? No, because there isn't a technology that can make this happen, whether digitally or biologically. There's not even a company that is working on this. So the answer to your question is no. But come back after 50-100 years, maybe the future generation finally found a way to defeat once and for all.

VR has nothing to do with tourism, let alone space tourism. If we call it tourism, than there are already video games - do they also count as tourism? The only aspect VR can transfer is visual information while the rest is absent. There is no point in virtual tourism, I bet the impressions will be drastically different from real life travelling and this two concepts will remain separated.
Truth. Also, how does "space tourism" exactly work? If this promotes actual space travel then it won't work because only the richest will be able to afford it. Even with virtual reality, it still wouldn't work because not everyone has a VR headset. That said, this could be useful in classrooms. Teachers could maybe use it to teach their students about the outerspace.

It's not that we need to use "just paper" as a currency. It was more like it was what we were introduced to a very long time ago. It's been existing for a very long time, so people are used to it, and have been treating it as the "official" currency worldwide. On the other hand, the reason many people don't treat bitcoin or cryptocurrency as an official currency is because even after 10 years of existing, it's still fairly new. Give it more time and they will adjust to it, and hopefully will start treating it as alternative to fiat.

All of it: the internet, social media, smartphones, blockchain, virtual reality and augmented reality. All of these changed our lives and made it easier. Plus, it allows us to communicate with the rest of the world without even having to be with each other personally. Soon, AI will change our lives even more. It's only a matter of time, you'll see.

Crazy times indeed. What was China thinking? I'm curious to know how they think we need a second, artificial moon. They've got big budget for AI, why not use it to prevent global warming? Or clean the ocean? Crazy times, indeed.
