Are you sure it went down to 66.6 on July 4th? From looking at bitcoincharts for that range in the minute resolution, I see it hitting that low on July 5th at 17:42 GMT, but not on the 4th. If it happened at 6:10am GMT on the 4th, which seems to be the lowest point (72) in the morning according to bitcoincharts, then that would be 6am + 10 minutes, which is 600 seconds.  If so, then "what the hell?" would be right.  Still, its close, especially since the domain was bought May 8th, when the price was above 110.

Back in 2002 on the 1 year anniversary of 9/11, the S&P 500 futures closed at 911.00. They made a big deal about it at the time. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/749198/posts

I think physical Bitcoins are a really bad idea and I don't see what practical purpose they serve. They try to erode the security of a Bitcoin outside the already well designed network/cryptographic security of the Bitcoin protocol. They require someone to be able to verify them on the spot, but why not then just use a real bitcoin wallet and transfer over the network.

I'm taking half my BTC out of gox to be safe. I got burnt a bit by the bitfloor bank freeze. Not going to take chances with Gox's bank accounts being frozen.

I'm Deltaray, just like it says in my profile.  Shocked  I've been into Bitcoin since the first Slashdot post in July 2010.

So did anybody find this useful and setup a ticker on your desktop?

Hi, I run a *nix command line tip feed for twitter/identica/youtube and recently made a tutorial video for making your own color ticker for BTC pricing, rig temperature monitoring or whatever that you can put in a terminal window. I think you'll find it interesting:

I am also a miner, so you might see BTC related stuff from time to time on the feed. If you're into CLI stuff or looking to start (not a bad habit), I invite you to check it out.
