2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I feel that the market will not get better. on: August 08, 2018, 07:21:31 PM
Considering that all cryptos are still highly correlated to BTC, it's not surprising that prices dropped today given SEC's delay on the ETF decision, which I personally think is actually a good thing as they could have just come out and said no tomorrow which was the more likely  scenario.

Also think about it this way - all nascent technologies are high risk investments and in hindsight everyone has the "I should have bought xyz 5 years ago" moment. If you can't hold through either hedge yourself or there are always less risky investments with less return.

No pain no gain.

Any news on when there will be an adjustment to the diff reset timing?

Bizarre swings the last days - but haven't switched between coins.

Difficulty Changes every 2016 blocks
My rough Calcs done at different times during the day so you get the gist.

I got some numbers wrong last time so feel free to update.

Current Supply
325926 x 5000 = 1,629,630,000
Block: Genesis 3rd Jan 2018 21:42:03
Block: 325926 6th Aug 2018 21:42:12

What Supply should be at if everything was perfect
Result: 215 days or 5160 hours or 309600 minutes
309600 x 5000 = 1548000000

Ahead or behind:
1,629,630,000 - 1,548,000,000 = 81,630,000 ahead

81,630,000 / 5000 = 16326mins or 272.1hours or 11.3days ahead of where we should be.

When is the next difficulty change:
If we use the current stats off RVNstats of 0.22 blocks a minute
4.45 minutes for a full block
623 blocks to go
2831 minutes
46ish hours from this post.

great thanks!

I was also wondering if Devs are working on changing the interval between diff adjustments

Actual price increase was from 190 Sats to 229 Sats, the rest is BTC related value uplift.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency is a trending topic all over the world? on: July 19, 2018, 01:31:04 PM
It seems more like there is increasing awareness, but when you look at the number of people who actually own cryptocurrencies it's still <5% for the major economies. this goes hand in hand with the general issue of getting more adoption.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold to reach new all time high of $2400/ounce on: July 18, 2018, 04:07:51 PM
Highly doubt gold will increase by much, it has been replaced in the majority of all industrial applications and the only real use of it is for Jewelry. People used to buy gold as an inflation hedge, but otherwise it is like crypto - it only holds value if people believe in its value.
10  Economy / Services / [HIRING FREELANCER] Reporting Tool for Mining performance on: July 18, 2018, 03:52:32 PM
Hi,
I'm looking for someone who can build me a reporting tool based on information from mining pool APIs eg. no. of coins earned, avg. hashrate, etc. (Suprnova) and dump it into a database every day while it separately pulls diff data as well as price information from other sources eg. Coinmarketcap/network stats. I would like to look at it like an excel table format where I can look at different timeframes i.e. daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.

happy to pay in either crypto or via paypal. Drop me a PM if you're interested with suggestion on price and timeframe for delivery.

thanks

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: July 18, 2018, 03:40:56 PM
Yes.  The binaries for the asset layer will be available on July 30th so that people can begin testing it on testnet.  There is not an explanation or walk-through yet because some things could possibly change during testing, but there will likely be educational resources by the time assets are released on mainnet, which is set now for October 31st.

that makes sense, thanks! Looking forward to seeing it.

sorry I keep repeating this - are there any news on the asset layer and is there an explanation somewhere how it works / can be used that is not code?
13  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: WhaleLend - EARN INTEREST on CRYPTO HOLDINGS -- Risk-Free and Trusted on: July 17, 2018, 03:10:58 PM
calling this Risk-free is pretty far fetched - however, I've been looking for something like this for a while and like the idea. How do you guarantee the return of deposits and what is the typical duration of lending positions / how did you come up with the annualised interest rates on your webpage?

thanks

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto could see another December pump on: July 17, 2018, 10:49:04 AM
It might not be an altcoin pump but even a BTC pump would inherently lead to an Altcoin pump as well given that altcoins would become undervalued on a relative basis and therefore "pulled along" by a rise in BTC value
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto could see another December pump on: July 17, 2018, 09:21:54 AM
One thing that could be very interesting is whether the SEC will approve a Bitcoin ETF in August, that would allow a lot of capital inflow into the space and hopefully some value uplift.
17  Economy / Services / [FINANCIAL ANALYST] available for help and hire on: July 17, 2018, 09:06:08 AM
Hi All,
I'm a financial analyst working for a well known US hedge fund in London and have previously worked for a well known US Private Equity and a European Investment Bank.

I've noticed that a lot of the ICOs / projects don't have proper financial models / company valuations and would like to offer my help in exchange for some crypto (if it's a bigger task). Otherwise also happy to help here with any questions anyone might have regarding financial modelling / financial analysis / valuation, etc.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: London Block Exchange - College of Crypto on: July 16, 2018, 05:17:02 PM
Hi, this is a really good project. If you're based in London/UK let me know, would be great to have a chat - I could help out with some info on mining if you're interested.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Explain crypto to someone like he's five? on: July 16, 2018, 04:47:46 PM
- If you want to boil it down to the core  in order to explain digital cash-

You want to buy a toy you like from one of your friends. You could use some dollar bills to pay him, but that would be inconvenient as you would have to ask your parents to take you to the bank to get some money, and then you have to carry it all the way to your friend before you can have the toy. Instead you can send him the same amount of money from your computer with a cryptocurrency. It is like sending an email containing money.
