1  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any authors here? on: August 30, 2018, 05:29:21 PM
On your website, it is stated that the cost of owning a book is 10 USD (via that book's token). Imho, that's a bit steep. Most Kindle launches retail for USD 0.99, and even the pricier ones daren't break the USD 4.99 barrier.

Just my USD 0.02.

Wow, really? Ten whole dollars? That's really steep. Just when I was already getting really interested. I will be looking forward to more opportunities though. I'm an author myself. And doing my stuff under an ICO project would sure feel fantastic. I hope the cost of owning a book on the site gets subsidized really.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The truth about bitcoin on: August 30, 2018, 05:23:21 PM
This is simply common sense. People always say something and it totally should be said here. If it sounds too good to be true, it's most definitely not true. And I think this is a basic principle of life. One that must not be disregarded even in the world of cryptocurrencies. I know that some folks were introduced into the market the very wrong way. They described Bitcoin in the wrong way. Whether they said it is a quick way to make money or not, it doesn't matter. You need to face the reality now or else you'll be defrauded.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Digital Money = Cashless Society on: August 30, 2018, 05:38:08 AM
A cashless society can actually seem to exist without what many people call digital currency. As we know, before digital currencies became popular, many governments had been working towards a cashless society. When I say digital currencies, I mean currencies like cryptocurrencies that do not exist at all in the note form. But I think a truly cashless society will not be dependent on the Fiat system at all. Take for example China which you used in your post. Last time I checked, Bitcoin was banned there. So, even in pursuit of a cashless society there, it's not truly digital. And the definition of their "cashless" would be "less of cash" and not "cash-less".
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Benefit of vegetarian? on: August 29, 2018, 07:09:13 AM
Being a vegetarian is a great choice. I don't see myself ever making such a decision. It is rather too stressful. But talking about being a vegetarian strictly for health reasons isn't really cutting it for me. I don't buy that stuff. I believe the main things that affect our health are those overly processed foods. And we all know these meat products undergo so many unhealthy preservation methods. But that is not to say meat on its own is unsafe or unhealthy. When prepared and processed properly, little or no harm is done. Every food product contains its own specific nutritional value.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Government should implement blockchain technology to prevent corruption. on: August 29, 2018, 06:59:12 AM
This is really a great idea. Any sincere government looking to stamp out corruption should totally look in this direction. But as we very know, the governments in most countries will not consider this. They wouldn't want to seal off their loopholes into the general treasury. I'm looking forward however to the first countries that will implement this. I would really like to see how things turn out. I won't be shocked though if after implementation things don't take a dramatic change. We humans always find a way around checks and balances. But at least then, it would take some smartness and intelligence to do away with government funds.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Stop talking about cashless society! Let us preserve mother nature! on: August 28, 2018, 06:52:20 AM
I'm sorry but you don't seem so informed in your post. Aren't you aware that there are naturally renewable sources of energy? We do not need to use up our natural resources to provide power to run a cashless society. Aren't your choice paper money and coin more dependent on natural resources? The sun, amidst other unending energy sources, for example is available to keep powering whatever project we have in mind. We know countries like Germany produce so much energy that there was even an excess in supply. So, I do not really think that your arguments are plausible. Depleting natural resources isn't one of the fears in moving to a cashless society.
7  Other / Off-topic / Re: The value of time on: August 28, 2018, 06:43:05 AM
Writing my project for a Bachelor's degree was one hell of a time. Every second that felt so dispensable in the past now felt like gold. Damn, I really learnt a lot of lessons. There was something I knew I needed to do fast. And that was to get out of the habit of procrastination. Time is really really precious. Every moment of it! The more we appreciate it, the more it rewards us with fulfillment.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I think we need politicians on: August 26, 2018, 11:55:06 AM
I totally concur with this stand. I know how livid people are with anger for politicians. In fact, I always felt and sometimes still feel this way too. But we need to just understand what the problem really is. Losing faith in and combating the whole system won't change things. At least not for the better. Our focus should be on revamping the political system. Imagine if the right people who actually have the people's interests at heart occupy these political positions, how much good could be achieved! Yeah, that's where the focus should be!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS IT TRUE THAT CYRPTOWORLD IS PRUNE TO HACKERS? on: August 25, 2018, 07:54:20 PM
This is already a rising menace. And it's really disturbing. The frequency of cryptocurrency hacks these days seem only to be increasing. So, the big question is what is being done about it? I know not that no financial system is 100% hack or fraud proof. But this is not excuse enough in my own opinion. One must be able to invest their money confidently without any fear of losing it to hackers. It is a very basic demand.
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's campaign manager Manafort and his lawyer Cohen guilty of 8 felonies each on: August 25, 2018, 07:24:45 AM
Crazy crazy stuff! It is really sad and exciting at the same time. Trump's legitimacy and stance keeps crumbling from all ends. But it will be very stupid and just waste of taxpayer's money if the man ends up not being impeached. I'm still confident that the whole collusion talk is bullshit though. It was only used as an opportunity to start digging up dirt on the already controversial man. Then the Trump Tower janitor witness came up yesterday. Seems some people are really doing their jobs passionately. Let the Americans keep distracting their President, the rest of the world is enjoying it.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are the opinions on bitcoin’s future on: August 23, 2018, 04:16:52 AM
A lot of people now are talking about the future of Bitcoin. I like that. I'd like better though if the discussion was about something else. We need to understand that the future of Bitcoin is not set. It is we, the investors that actually decide what happens. So, the discussion point should be how to promote Bitcoin really. I personally am confident that the currency will still rise in value. At least I think it is a great economic idea and that it will stand the test of time. But it's not enough to think and share opinions, we should promote and offer valid information to newcomers too.
12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Humans keep increasing what will happen? on: August 22, 2018, 04:36:13 AM
It is very interesting the rate at which world population is growing. Contraceptives and the rest haven't even helped much. Though in my opinion, that wasn't the major focus of creating them. Either ways, I don't believe there's any cause for alarm. Human population was always bound to grow. And I am highly confident that if we take proper care of the Earth, it is rich enough to cater for each and everyone of us. I mean there's so much untilled land all over the world but nobody is willing to work them. We all like to migrate to the same developed regions and choke ourselves out. We should pay more attention to agriculture too because if we don't take care of our basic needs, we won't even be alive to pursue the secondary ones that we all love so much.
13  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is romantic love the most important love of all? on: August 21, 2018, 07:02:01 AM
It depends on what you mean by powerful. But I think true power is in the ability to make things happen. And only "true love" can really make things happen. True love doesn't have to be romantic. A father might kill or give his own life to protect his daughter. What else could be more powerful? And there's absolutely nothing romantic about that. Most times, romantic love is even deceitful. That's primarily why divorces and bitter experiences occur.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nothing can stop Bitcoin! Big News! on: August 19, 2018, 03:45:06 PM
Oh, yeah. We need more good vibes. At least this way, there will be more and more investors. And it is actually long overdue. This year has been anything but good for Bitcoin. Anyway, I have always stayed positive all through. I am just certain that there will be some really good change before this year runs out. And this seems to hint that also. Many people who have held out or even bought more also deserve it. Grin
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do governments lose taxes with cryptocurrencies? on: August 18, 2018, 05:50:59 AM
This is actually a question that has indeed crossed my mind. Sadly, I don't think your post has answered it sufficiently. On a basic level, I think cryptocurrencies do not affect taxation much. And I believe I am right in thinking so. Because as long as there's a continuous Fiat-crypto exchange, taxation is bound to still be realized. Especially in buying, the government has nothing to lose whatsoever. Since the currency used in buying Bitcoin was already in the Fiat system. There might be a little loophole though when one sells Bitcoins (especially after making profits). The government might look to close this loophole by tracing cryptocurrency transactions.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I'm an atheist on: August 16, 2018, 02:40:34 PM
Very many points there. I understand that with your mindset, these are great arguments. And many people actually share this view too. But it doesn't take much time before one realizes that these arguments are straw-man. Of course, I don't have as much time as you to pick at everything. But I will touch on one. You made a point about God asking, "Who created me?" This really portrays a very shallow understanding of the image of the God most religions present. If God is still seen as All-knowing, Almighty and Omnipresent, then this question doesn't even arise in anyway. If he created time, space and matter, then He certainly exists outside it.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Become Mainstream In The Next 10 Years? on: August 02, 2018, 01:45:20 AM
According to a study conducted by researchers at Imperial College London, cryptocurrency has the potential to become a form of payment that is widely used for decades to come. In their research report entitled "Cryptocurrency: Overcoming Barriers to Trust and Adoption" Professor Imperial College London, William Knottenbelt, and Imperial College Business School Dr. Zeynup Gurguc, argue that cryptocurrency has so far acted as a store of value like a fiat currency.
Yes, I'm sure that bitcoin will become the main payment form, and perhaps the only one. The only thing is very difficult to predict when exactly this will happen. The countries of the world are very different in terms of technological development. I mean, even now there are places on the planet where there is no internet. Every day their are less and less, of course.
Most importantly, the more people learn about crypto currencies and blockchain technology and will understand all the advantages of using it for different purposes, the sooner we will move to a new level.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Cryptocurrency Stand Without Bitcoin? on: August 01, 2018, 12:05:49 AM
I mean Why bitcoin? Why waste huge energy in mining. As everyone know bitcoin is useless in terms
of usability.
My question to bitcointalk users :

Is this possible that any altcoin become no 1 on coinmarketcap and bitcoin disappeare

I think this can be possible, what you think so comment below...

Bitcoin changes the world not only because of technology is blockchain, but also because it is a global decentralized currency. Bitcoin, as a payment tool, gives people around the world the opportunity to use payment methods that conceptually change the functioning of the entire financial system. Bitcoin creates competition, represented of anyone who has a computer and the Internet. Of course, Bitcoin has its drawbacks. That's why the technology is constantly improved. There will be something else to appear in the future, but so far without Bitcoin it is hard to imagine the world of crypto currencies.
