1  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can blockchain change the way we vote? on: August 15, 2018, 11:44:59 AM
There are some issues need to be solved:
  • System's user can have only one «account» (or «wallet») to vote. Nobody can vote twice.
  • Nobody can't see your vote. To be clear, everyone can see it, but didn't know that it is YOU.

As I know, first issue is hard to implement, without making second one... But it is temporary problem =)
Blockchain would allow for votes to be stored in a system, where it would be near impossible to change them. Unfortunately, the problem with a lot of elections is not the transmission or storage of votes. What you would need to do to is control the input. Corrupt governments often falsify elections by forcing people to vote and by voting for people who they know won't vote anyway. Blockchain would not fix this problem. It may help make elections more secure, but there are a lot more problems to deal with.
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to make a girl fall for you? on: August 14, 2018, 10:11:05 AM
Girls are weaker creatures, once you promise them either heaven or earth, they will believe. This shows that girls are likely to fall for you if you can say something to entice them.
What a sexist comment! Of course, on average women are physically not as strong as men. You are depicting them as gullible. Women as no less intelligent than men. If fact, I think that women can be much more intelligent than man sometimes. If we're talking about emotional intelligence, I think women may tend to have more than men. If you're all talk an no actions, women will see right through it. It may take them a little while to realize it, but they will. You need to show a woman you deserve her by your actions, not just empty words.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 50 people, mostly children killed in missile strike by Saudi coalition on: August 13, 2018, 03:51:30 PM
The bus attack with childrens can not be legitimate in any way. Yemen will not be safe country in next years, if someone can attack the bus with missiles.
That's exactly what I was thinking. How can you ever justify killing innocent civilians? It's so twisted when people lose their humanity somehow. Of course they would never kill a child from their own family. They create enemies in their minds though and disassociate the the people from real people. If only we could be more friendly with one another. If only we could break down barriers of hatred. We could do so much more working together than separately.
4  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 50 people, mostly children killed in missile strike by Saudi coalition on: August 12, 2018, 12:00:53 PM

Unfortunately, America has turned war into a profitable business...

If you think Syria has been going on a long time, what about Afghanistan?
The US has been fighting in Afghanistan for 17 years... 3 more and we get a gold watch, right?

The US invaded Afghanistan because of the attacks on 9/11, to get Osama Bin Laden... who died years ago in another country... why are we still in Afghanistan? (hint: its all about the money)

Sorry if this isn't about Yemen, which is also tragic and very overlooked by the corporate media... the media has abandoned their job

Totally agree. They attack and kill people around the globe and, meantime, they clunch their pearls when someone attacks them. It is the hypocrisy of its higher level.
The US imperialism is, curiously, destroying the places where the oil is massive (as you say, its all about the money). Besides, they live under the idea they need to thank their soldiers with senseless phrases like "Thanks for your service". Seriously? Thanks for being brainwashed and for going to a foreign country to invade and kill their people? For creating a mess by the pathetic explanation of "helping the people? For providing weapons to terrorism in this area with the only goal of creating panic?
This is without a doubt what it all comes down to. It's horrible what's happening. It's all done on taxpayers dollar. Those dollars go into the pockets of those that produce the weapons. Then they create opportunities for people who deal in natural resources to make their riches. All the while, innocent people are suffering in these countries. Well, innocent people are even suffering in the US itself, while the governments eyes are on oil across the ocean. On the other hand, we can say that they're doing a pretty damn good job at brainwashing the population.
5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 50 people, mostly children killed in missile strike by Saudi coalition on: August 10, 2018, 11:21:07 AM
50 people died in a bus attack in Yemen and 77 were injured, most of whom were children, the International Committee of the Red Cross stated, citing officials. The Saudi-led coalition has called the attack "legitimate." The Saudi-led coalition later said the airstrikes were aimed at missile launchers used to attack the southern Saudi city of Jiza, claiming its strike constituted a "legitimate action." It went on to accuse Houthi rebels of using children as human shields. The attack took place in Dahyan Market in northern Saada, a Houthi rebel stronghold, on Thursday morning.

https://www.rt.com/news
Whatever is meant here by a "legitimate" attack? Would it be the traditional definition "in compliance with the law"? What the heck is wrong with these people? Another part of this article stood out to me:
Quote
Thursday’s attack is the latest in Yemen's ongoing, brutal civil war. But, despite the conflict having started in March 2015, Western governments and media outlets have largely turned away, preferring to prioritize the Syria conflict over the plight of Yemeni civilians who face extreme hunger, a lack of medical supplies, and have endured a major cholera outbreak.
What a powerful point. The media somehow picks and chooses what wars to talk about. In reality there are many wars happening all over the world. When the media doesn't talk about a war, the rest of the world thinks that everything has calmed down. Some people are not getting help that they could if the media actually talked about what's happening. This is yet another confirmation to me that the "news" hardly gives you a picture of what's really happening in the world.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: August 09, 2018, 03:52:05 PM
While I don't have many posts. I got involved in Bitcoin in 2013 and joined this forum in 2014. While I do not consider myself wealthy from Bitcoin yet. I do have an idea of how I would like to direct some of this new found wealth. I think most of the people who got involved early got involved for the right reasons. IE: To change the world and move humanity out of the control of the bankers. I am concerned that the new people coming may only be in to make money. I hope I am wrong, I really want this technology to be a force of good in the world and deliver economic freedom to the masses and the unbanked. My hope is everyone who was early, has some idea in mind that will help others. Maybe help your family, or a charity that you think isn't wasting money, or building a community swimming pool etc. If you have a lot of money think big and how you can change the world for the better. This is our chance!
It's great that you're thinking like this. The more people like you, the better our world will be. Of course, not everybody that got in early will become a great philanthropist. In the same way, not everybody new to "the game" wants to save the world. This is natural. That's the reality of life in any sphere. Not everybody thinks about this "social responsibility" that comes with money. Once you've got your own basic need covered, you start to think about what your real purpose in life is and how you can make a significant lasting difference. I wish you all the best in your endeavors!
7  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to make a girl fall for you? on: August 08, 2018, 02:18:18 PM
Be yourself

Many guys make the mistake of starting to show themselves not as they really are to impress the girl. However, remain what you are, then it will make you fall in love with yourself.

Make jokes

In your relationship, there should be joy and a good mood, this will allow you to attract her faster and easier. The main thing for this is to learn to joke correctly and to give a smile to yourself and the girl.

Find common interests

It is also very important for you to find at least some common interests or even hobbies. It will be easier for you to communicate with each other, which will give you more chances to build a serious relationship.
The second post here really did give the best advice. Being yourself is probably the most important advice. If you put on a show, then she may fall in love with somebody who you are not. It'd then be a very difficult situation. You'd have 2 options: keep living the lie, so she'll be happy and not surprised that you're someone else or tell her the truth and see if she still loves you. If the girl is not interested in you, then it's just not meant to be. You can work to improve yourself, your talents and skills, so that you will be more attractive to future potential mates.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your definition of a perfect world? on: August 07, 2018, 01:47:07 PM
Do you there is such a thing as a perfect world? Where we could live as long as we want, free of aging and debts and health issues can easily be fixed? Is it possible to live in a world like this? I thought about this today and tried to come up with a world where this is possible and the only thing I came up with is the virtual world. With the concept of singularity and transhumanism by virtual reality and mind uploading, do you think we can achieve this in 2 or 3 decades?
I first question would probably be, "What does perfect mean?" If you take the definition "Being without defect or blemish", then I don't think that's possible. If you take the definition "Lacking nothing essential to the whole; complete of its nature or kind", then I think that's possible. I mean, I don't think there can be a world without death. People will die. Accidents will happen. That's natural. To me a perfect world would be one in which everybody is able to do what is close to their heart and they won't want for any of the basic necessities of life. There shouldn't be any war either, of course. Will it happen? I don't know. I don't think it'll happen globally anytime soon.

It is always good to see US president wife nude photos in public Web portals, so you can better understand politics. Here is the nice link - https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/donald-trump-melania-trump-knauss-first-lady-erections
Haha, I agree with other posters. It seems like a strange statement that it's always good to see US presidents wives nude photos, especially in public. Sounds like a bit of an invasion of privacy, as I'm sure not all of them would be interested. Take a look at a list of the first ladies of the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_First_Ladies_of_the_United_States. I have no need to see any of them nude, but there are some that I would definitely not want to see. Melania is a beautiful woman, but I don't see how that or her past career has much to do with politics.
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: When you are stressed, what do you do to relax ? on: August 05, 2018, 12:33:35 PM
When I'm stressed, sometimes I just play some video games. I like to play racing games and listen to podcasts. When you play racing games, you don't need to hear anything really. It also doesn't take a lot of active brain power. I can sort of get out of my head an think about something else while keeping my hands busy. I also find it helps a lot to talk to my partner. Anytime you have difficulties it helps to voice them, even if you are just talking to yourself.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Time Travelers on: August 04, 2018, 04:31:45 PM
I have always been a fan of time travel stories but this is the first time I've heard about John Titor. Maybe I was still too young back then and was contented with ghost stories from websites with dark background and red colored fonts.
According to Wikipedia, in 2000 and 2001, this guy made a lot of posts on different message boards. He said that he was from the year 2036. He said that he was a military time traveler. He told people many things that would happen before 2036. Apparently he was wrong many time. It's surprising that he got so much attention. At one point a private investigator even looked into him. He declared that it was all a hoax. Well, maybe it was true and he just had a bad memory. That could be why his predictions didn't work out. Maybe he just went back to 2036. I guess in just 18 years we'll see.  Grin
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Iran Have Warships From 1936 - US Navy Can Not Target, Ships Are Too Old on: August 03, 2018, 02:29:48 PM
If US can attack Iranian nuclear threats with missiles, they can also target ancient Iranian Navy with warships from 1936 ( Hamzeh Class Corvettes - former yachts, rebuilt in 1965 ), but I think US Navy can not target, because US Navy are not prepared to fight with so old and ancient ships - most possible from wood. Radar can not see wood. See link here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_ships_of_the_Islamic_Republic_of_Iran_Navy
The ship from 1936 has missiles and machine guns. You think they didn't make any ships out of metal back then? I can't find info about that specific ship. I did find though that the first ship with an iron hull was the HMS Warrior launched in 1860. If there were already metal ships, then the 1936 ship could be metal too. It should at least have some metal armor. I think that even if the ship was completely wood and radar didn't work, it shouldn't be too have to find it. You could target it by sight instead of relying on automated systems.
13  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people go into prostitution? on: August 02, 2018, 12:01:21 PM
Prostitution, like it is generally known, is as old as the world itself and what was once a thing of shame, is now practiced in the full glare of the public.
Some women have even glamorized the trade and some see it as a very lucrative, especially those that manage to travel out of the country to engage in prostitution.

But there are reasons why some ladies take to it and most of the reasons may not just be far from the realities in the country.

Pulse List brings you top 10 reasons Nigerian women go into prostitution.

1. Poverty

The first excuse that is given for the proliferation of prostitution has to be poverty, especially if the lady comes from a poverty stricken background.
Young ladies whose parents are incapable of taking care of them and their siblings, tend to go into prostitution so as to make ends meet and take care of their families.

2. Unemployment

It is not every prostitute that is lazy or just willing to sell herself for money. Some of them go into it because there are no jobs for them to do to take care of their needs.
Some of them are well educated but with no job readily available for them to do, they decide to sell themselves for money.

3. Peer Pressure

This is another reason ladies go into the trade of prostitution. Some of the ladies involved are often pressurized into the trade because their friends are into it and they do not let them know the dangers involved in it, only the glamorous part of it.
And before they get to know the dangerous repercussions, they are neck deep into it and find it difficult to get out.

4. Laziness

Some ladies are naturally lazy and expect a man to cater for every of their needs. They want to live the high life, buy high-end clothes, travel around the world and live life to a hilt but they are not willing to work hard for the lifestyle.
So they feel the best way to enjoy both worlds is to become a prostitute.

5. Sexual Addiction

For many, this reason may not be strong enough but research has shown that some ladies go into prostitution because they have a high sexual libido and it is often very difficult for one man to satisfy them sexually.
So they feel the best thing to do is to go into prostitution where they will get an array of men every day to have sex with them.

6. Lack of Parental Care

Some parents do not care about what happens to their children, neither do they feel it is their duty to give them the right guidance as they are growing up.
Such children usually end up getting advice from friends and most times, these advice turn out to be poor.
Children who are from broken homes, with no one to lead them on the right path, are often open to such temptations and they usually fall into the wrong hands.

7. Heartbreak

Believe it or not, a lady who is heartbroken may be tempted to take vengeance on men by becoming a prostitute.
These ladies have very fragile hearts and if a man they love so much breaks their hearts, they feel the urge to take revenge by sleeping with other men, with the wrong notion that they are hurting the man who hurt them too.

8. Money

The overriding reason for women engaging in prostitution is the money they can make from the trade.
In an economy that there are so many uncertainties due to the harsh climate, sex still sells and the ladies reckon that they will always make ends meet if they sell themselves.

9. Victims of Rape and Trafficking

Some of the commercial sex workers we have in Nigeria today are victims of sex slavery, rape, child labour and trafficking.
Those who are sexually abused or raped when they are young see nothing great, divine or important about sex.
Their conceptions about sex have been derailed due to their childhood experiences. Some have low-self esteem and other sexual disorders that later lead them into prostitution.
Some young ones are forced and forced into sex slavery, pornography and prostitution.

10. Loneliness

Loneliness is another reason that can push women into prostitution, believe it or not. A woman who has been abandoned by a man can feel desolate and to prove she is wanted by men, decides to go into prostitution.
It's interesting that all of these points refer to something bad. I think it is quite a comprehensive list, but is it really impossible that a woman (or man) could just choose to be a prostitute? I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing. Don't you think though that it could be a decision that a person makes? Couldn't it be a career choice? There are other more "acceptable" professions where people use their body to provide a service for others. Massage therapists could be one example. The only point you have that could be interpreted as a little bit positive is "sex addiction", but even that sounds like an illness. What do you think?
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World population is very small. on: August 01, 2018, 01:42:40 PM
I totally respect your point of view, however, remember that these almost 8 billion people you are talking about are also the ones responsible for the climate change that is happening everywhere. And humans are growing exponentially. If human population is not growing, then we will not need Family Planning anymore. But we do. Every country does.
It's not really a question of whether or not the human population is growing. It is certainly growing. The thing is that it's growth is slowing. The total fertility rate in the world has been going down constantly since the 1950s, according to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_fertility_rate). There are projections there that should that by 2050 almost all regions of the world will be close to or below 2. If we aren't having more than two children per woman, we almost definitely won't have our population grow. Unless the trends all change, it looks like we won't have such a big probably with overpopulation.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World population is very small. on: July 31, 2018, 12:45:37 PM
I do not think that the world population is too high --- and I believe that it does not need to. Well, first, I like to say that I agree with you about your point when it comes to 'imbalance' of the world's population and its money and other resources. However, money isn't what only people need. Humans needs an environmental exploitation for us to get the majority of the resources that we need. If today we only have 7.6 billion people living on the Earth, and yet that number is already enough to greatly destroy our planet, then I think it is not a good idea to make those numbers larger. Moreover, although large population may also mean great productivity that can lead to an increase in economy, still, we will experience scarcity and shortage in the future if we do not sustain well our avaiable natural resources. Lastly, I think that the increase in population will also lead in increase also of misunderstanding and war.
We are obviously capable of destroying the earth, but I think we are also capable of restoring it. In most fields there is technology to make what we are doing sustainable. For example, if you cut down trees, plants new trees. Unfortunately, it seems to usually take some very bad things to make us realize that we should do something different. Sometimes it even goes too far and we have plants and animals going extinct.

Why do you think that the increase if population will lead to an increase in misunderstanding and war? Do you think we'll have new groups of people starting new wars?
16  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can our society and its technology create the impossible? on: July 30, 2018, 02:11:34 PM
*snip*

Op I can appreciate you trying to drum up a good conversation. Unfortunately your post is really just a mixer of words without any real message. Try and put out some ideas as to what you think the impossible could be. I think you just threw society into your title, to try and make it stick on this board.

I think eventually there will be very small machines that can test so many things in a person's body. These machines will be able to diagnose patients better than human doctors can. I think that we will use DNA mapping more and more. We will do DNA tests of all children at birth so we can know what illnesses they have a predisposition to. This will be allow doctors to better treat the person throughout life.

Some of these advancements are available now in their infancy, They are already striking their own ethical debate. With DNA mapping people wonder where to draw the line, if you discover a fetus is going to be born with an impairment or disease. What constitutes the "right" traits to adjust or breed towards. Much like any advancement there is what it was meant for, and ultimately what its end use is.

Look at the I phones and new computers. We have new technologies able to achieve great things.  Nowadays very few diseases still resist us. We have develop space technology and our life is not the same.  Maybe one day, we will be able to meet aliens. *snipped*

My favorite part about a lot of our current technological advancements in communication are that they stem from early Sci-Fi. I always think back to old Star Trek, whenever I'm on video chat.

On the disease front this has become a double edged sword, we do have treatments for many illnesses; but there are organisms that evolve at such a rapid pace when combined with our sometimes needless use of antibiotics they are becoming a threat once again.

In regards to Aliens, I feel our society has placed space exploration on the back burners. If it weren't for private enterprise picking up the torch we may never know what is out there. As far as an impact on our society, I don't feel enough people care what is going on off planet regardless of the possibilities for resources or experiment.
I realize that these technologies are available. Their just not used to that extent yet. I know that in some countries all prospective mothers are offered DNA tests on their fetuses. It certainly is a big topic for debate. Some people would chose to abort any baby that is at high risk for some disabilities. Sometimes it can just add more stress to the pregnancy, knowing that there's a 25% chance your child will have down syndrome, for example.

I also thought about Star Trek as I read through this thread. The first thing that comes to mind for me is automatic sliding doors. Haha.
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can our society and its technology create the impossible? on: July 28, 2018, 11:00:20 AM
Things that we have an use that are commonplace today were unimaginable for people just 50 years ago. I believe that in 100 years there will be technology that we cannot imagine now. There are so many developments in telecommunications and transportation. I'm sure space travel will become more feasible and commonplace. Medical diagnostics are also improving very quickly.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: Have we lost the power to control our futures? on: July 27, 2018, 03:52:46 PM
I'm sorry that you feel that way. I think your perspective on this issue must depend on what country you're from. I know that people will always find something to complain about, no matter how good things are, but I think there are some countries where people feel that they have control over their future. I find it an awfully pessimistic thing to say that nothing is in the interest of the people. Violence should not be the answer. There is power in numbers. If you feel like the people have lost control in your country, you need to start talking. You need to start organizing people to band together, rise up, and make a change. Violence should be avoided as much as possible, even if the government uses violence against you.
19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cryptocurrencies and politics on: July 26, 2018, 07:22:03 AM
Of course banks and governments are intimidated by cryptocurrencies. Average people don't really understand at all what happens in an economy. I don't understand that well either, but the way that centralized banks work it pretty messed up. As far as I understand, they create money from nothing and then loan it out and charge a percentage. This causes causes inflation or the devaluation of everybody else's money. I'm sure that banks will figure out some way to benefit from cryptocurrencies, but I have a feeling it might not be so lucrative. Cryptocurrencies seem to be based on transparency. Everybody can be rewarded if they help support the system. This is pretty different from our "traditional" economy.
20  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World population is very small. on: July 25, 2018, 04:26:08 PM
I'm not sure if I understand your thinking 100%, but I agree that the world population is not that big. It certainly has grown exponentially in the past couple centuries thanks to modern medicine, but it's still not that much. I've traveled around the world by land through over 30 countries and everywhere I went I was so amazed that there are really not that many people. There is so much land everywhere with no people, even in China and the United States. I found this really interested article that showed that at the population density of NYC, everybody in the world could fit in the state of Texas! (https://www.treehugger.com/sustainable-product-design/at-nycs-density-the-worlds-population-could-live-in-texas.html) Of course, we have to think a lot about waste and resources, but we can do a lot better than we are. Whenever you hear about scarcity of any resource, remember that capitalism doesn't function without the idea of scarcity.
