As others have said, electrum is a good alternative to a fully online wallet like blockchain. It's a desktop wallet, but it keeps all the block data online so it doesn't take up a huge amount of space on your computer.

Sometimes chatting on various exchanges can be a descent place to learn more. You get your fair share of trolls, but sometimes you can actually get valuable info.

Have you read what was in that link thoroughly? Did you send the PM in the format described there? Also remember that your alternative account that you are using right now should not be registered with the same email address as your old account. Hopefully it will work out for you.

Like the others have said, either go with blockchain or electrum. Blockchain is an online wallet, while electrum is a desktop wallet. So it depends on what you would prefer.

Since it's a small amount you should just experiment. You can try day trading for example, that's how I started out when I only had a little. Even if it doesn't work out, you will still most likely learn something valuable and will be more prepared next time.  Just never risk more than you can afford to lose.

I'm interested to see what you've been working on. I don't think it would be too hard for you to attract investors compared to 1 post newbies that might run away with your bitcoin at any moment. Keep us posted.

Nice to see something with some real support behind it. I think this has potential, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Maybe the owners of accounts that have been inactive for a LONG time can get automated emails, maybe a few over a period of time, asking them if they still wish to remain members. A simple "yes" to one of the emails would prevent that account from being deleted. It might help find accounts that have clearly been abandoned. Although like others have said, I don't know how useful that would be apart from freeing up some usernames.
