1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: July 14, 2011, 09:07:21 PM
Yesterday I was at 10 ghash/s, I have literally a ton of 6990's running.

Show pics!

Gonna be REAL tough to get all of them 6990's in one pic.  He said "literally a ton", thats 2000 pounds.  They all have to be on a mobo to be running so thats thousands and thousands of setups and easily many thousands of square footage not to mention the power required may mean he has multiple locals in which they are located.

Literally a ton.  Moron.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to add settings to guiminer? on: July 14, 2011, 09:03:51 PM
I run a few 5830s as well.  In the GUIMiner...um...GUI, find the "Extra Flags" field (Just under where you entered your miner password).  There are a ton of flags out the that can boost your hash rate some but I have found that this works best:

-v -w128   (typed just like that)

Clocked up to 975 core and down to 500 memory I get 300m/hash.  Clocked up in the 1050 range is even better if your cards can handle it (two of mine can one...cant).

Once you add those commands in the flags field do click stop mining and start mining again to begin with those commands active.  Some may say to change the -w rate to 256 or so.  I found 128 to be a slightly better rate on my machine though.

Further flags can be found- http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=4122.0

So then, does a guide (for a secure wallet) (like this http://startbitcoin.com/how-to-create-a-secure-bitcoin-wallet/) assume that you are solo mining?  Cause I am not sure how to get "coins" from my pool account onto an Unbuntu OS running on a thumb drive.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Gotta be the DUMBEST Bitcoin question EVER! on: July 06, 2011, 09:06:58 AM
Ok, so by reading the title of this topic you already know what yer walking into here.  I'm gonna ask now.....and I have been mining for a bit and have a few coins in a few pool accounts.....so im not %100 clueless but I have to be at around %99.3 on the clueless meter.  Here goes.....ok...gonna ask now...meow....

I can see that in my account for a pool (say BTCGuild for instance) that it says I have 2.5***** bitcoins.  And I know I can "move" these to a "wallet account" like at MyBitCoin.  But, I hear its best to keep these coins in a more secure "wallet" like on a thumb drive.  And I have even gone as far as to follow a guide to create such a drive.  But my question is...when I put cash in my real life wallet, its cash or paper if you will.  When I put a credit card in my wallet its not cash but its linked to a company that has my cash (and is keeping it secure)....so what ON EARTH an i putting in a Bit-Coin-USB-Thumb-Drive-Wallet?  Why is it more secure THAT way?

Trying to figure this out....Im SURE Im a moron..but it just isn't clicking.

Just to clarify, my solution (posted above) works just fine on Service Pack 2.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Super Noob Question. on: June 28, 2011, 08:39:00 PM
What are your "mining rigs" comprised of?
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Real fast...humor me (am I doin this right)? on: June 27, 2011, 07:31:39 PM
So then, no real change.  What does the "f" command change?
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Real fast...humor me (am I doin this right)? on: June 27, 2011, 07:17:31 PM
Neither -f0 or -f2 seemed to do much.  Maybe .5 or 1 m/hash increase.

Was odd, seemed to start a lot higher though.  Normally, I click "Start Mining" and it reads in the 80's-90s for a few secs before hitting around 195-200.  With the -f0 and -f2 it started at 220 but quickly dropped into the 195-200 range.

Ok, thx Kokjo!

As for nvmind, maybe I could help a bit (despite my NoobNess)

The rest of the system with the 5770 in it is nuthin special at all (2GB DDR2, P4 3.0 Ghz, XP 32bit)

I am using GuiMiner with the flags: -v -w128

I have the cards Memory clocked down to 600 (MSIAfterburner wont let me go lower) and the Core clocked at 925.

Fan locked in at 85% and the card is running very stable at between 80c-85c
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Real fast...humor me (am I doin this right)? on: June 27, 2011, 08:12:35 AM
So, mining with a modest 5770 rig GUIMiner shows me mining at around 200 m/hash.

Mining in the BTC Guild Pool, it is showing that in the last 24hrs (mining 18 of those hrs) I have generated 0.09059131 BTC.  Still stupid-new to all this so....does that sound right?  Good?........normal?  I dont know if it does or doesn't so, ...Im asking....lolol
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good psu suggestions? on: June 27, 2011, 08:02:39 AM
Well, I have 13 PCs currently and each one uses either a PC Power & Cooling or an Enermax PSU.  Failures in the last 4 years.....one.  Generally those brands along with Antec are my favs.  Perhaps check dis out:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=58&Description=&Type=&N=100007657&IsNodeId=1&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=40&MaxPrice=80&Manufactory=1516&Manufactory=9830&Manufactory=1400&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58401&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58402&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58404&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58405&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58406&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58407&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58410&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58411&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58412&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58413&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58414&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58389&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58390&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58392&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58393&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58394&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58395&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58397&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A58399

Quick lil Newegg search under those brands within your listed price range.  I went with a range of 500-650watts I think.

Really the PSU is one of those "gotta buy good to never see results" type of product.  You really HAVE to get a good one, but if you do, you'll never know it cause it will just run and not fail.  Not like a GPU where the better ones yield instant results in higher FPS and such.  Nope, the poor PSU toils in the background unseen and (hopefully) unheard, but man o man am I glad when I have systems up 24/7 that never miss a beat.

EXACT same issue here.  Windows XP SP2, ATI 5770 vid card.  Latest Catalyst drivers, installed ATI Stream and all accompanying files.  Still "No OpenCL support" with GuiMiner

Edit- May have at least partially solved the issue.  By rolling back to driver version 10.6 and ATI Stream version 2.1 I now have access to the card in OpenCL.  The card shows up as "Juniper" but I believe that is the accurate name of the chipset.

Averaging 176 M/Hash with this software setup and the -v -256 tags.  No clock changes of yet.  Will OC later.

Another Edit- Seem to get better results at -128.  Clocked at 925mhz Core and 600mhz Memory (MSI Afterburner wouldnt go lower)

Clocking core to 960mzh seemed to make little to no difference over 925 (Afterburner would not go higher)..
Raising memory clocks made little difference.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guiminer flags for 4830/5750? on: June 18, 2011, 08:57:13 AM
Heck, i wouldnt mind an answer to this either.  Searching around I cant seem to find a good answer as to what the purpose of the flags is.

Damn you people are helpful!  Thanks.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / GUIMiner question (Sli) on: June 15, 2011, 08:03:19 PM
So (still new...bear with me), I am using GUIMiner on several of my machines.  One of which is a GTX570 SLi PC (bought for gaming LONG before I had ever heard of a Bitcoin).  Anyhow, GUIMiner shows the "device" I am using as [0-0] GeForce GTX 570.  It has a drop-down box that I can select [0-1] (the other card).  Does this mean I must launch and run GUIMiner twice to utilize both cards, one using [0-0] the other using [0-1]?

Thanks!
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I mine? on: June 14, 2011, 08:05:26 AM
Ok, so...I should be mining it seems.  Only other question would be...where?  Im currently using GUIMiner and have joined BTCGuild.  Is that aight or should I look elsewhere for GUI's or Pool to join?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Should I mine? on: June 13, 2011, 05:57:37 AM
Ok, so I am MEGA new to this whole Bitcoin thing but stumbled upon it the other day reading about the "crash".  Anyhow, my question is really really simple.  Would it make sense for me to mine?

I am a gamer and have a 15 PC LAN in my home currently.  Up until now I had no knowledge of the Bitcoin realm yet it seems I may have the hardware to maybe make a lil bit. A few of my machines might not make sense (I have a couple with lowly 9600GTs for GPUs) but I have a few that might make more sense.  I have one with dual 570s, one with a single 570, two with single GTX285's and two with single HD5770s.  From the reading I have already done it seems the ATI systems would fare much better but the GTX570 systems I have are on all the time anyway.  Since I have this hardware just sitting here at times, would it make sense to mine?

(I have ventured out to try it already, downloading GUIMiner and joining BTC Guild....I just wanna know if its a total waste of time or not.  I also know the power consumption does go up on said machines when mining but from the calculators I have seen I might still be able to turn a lil profit.)

Thanks!

Edit- And as for my hardware costs...since I own this stuff anyway for gaming and Bitcoin has never mattered to me before.....making up the difference in what I already own is mute to me.
