The problem is speculation and picking the right coin to mine. If you invest in the rigs and chose the wrong coin, you can lose money. If you rent the rig, you can easily calculate how much you need to make a profit, and then let the person renting it from you make their own decision on what to mine. Nicely said. I'm writing this here, as It's my first time refunding a customer due the simple fact that he set only one pool which went dead. I've emailed him - no answer so, i don't want to be guilty of a dead rig... so i'm refunding him his BTC in full. If the renter leased your machine and only put one pool that went dead, that is no fault of your own, why would you refund him money..
