I am thinking of opening an account on bitfinex, unless somebody advises against it, if not would anybody have a referred code for it? thanks

Bitfinex with their inside trading (manipulating).. could be new Gox soon. So yah, deposit only as much as you are willing to risk.

Dunno, the arb between Stamp and Bitfinex would have me concerned with the former.

Here's a code if you want to risk trading there. None of the exchanges seem completely safe to me.

Thanks.

And will proceed with the appropriate amount of caution

Just had thought, thought I would share it with you guys for a chuckle...

Why doesn't Putin tell Visa + Mastercard to p*** off and just use bitcoin???

I wonder if someone has suggested it to him  Grin Grin Grin

Just want to say I love this forum. I log on every morning to have a read and drink my coffee (and then leave it open all day to stay on top of things)...

It really does provide me with the news that's most relevant to me, and a good laugh b/c the banter here is mostly pretty good.

My day job is as analyst developer and I manage a few servers to host client systems, so seeing this message about heartbleed is a big deal for me.

Defo good idea to stay away from any important SSL connections and reset passwords once the admins have confirmed they've updated their openssl packages - which shouldn't take long actually I manage to do mine in a short space of time.

So thanks for the heads up!

Gents not sure if this has been asked here (certainly not recently I think) but what do guys think the price will do when the last bitcoin is mined?

Just imagine if we were all looking forward to Monday's headlines

"Last new bitcoin ever was mined last night at xx:xx!"

"All bitcoins that will ever be are now in somebody's hands"

...

"Don't have a bitcoin?? where have you been for the last x years!?!?!?"

[EDIT] I know it's maybe ahead of time for this question, but still, we're not running out of pages here I think

its been going down since I started reading this bloody forum and all I've wanted was a decent opportunity to shout "to the moon!" and maybe post a stupid picture of a train or something....

and since this is quite obviously the bottom  Cheesy, I thought I'd be the first one to get in there.

Dear all,

I love bitcoin.

99% because it's such a cool idea... it's really amazing it took us this long to realise it, and 1% because I like the idea I could make some money by doing something that seems (deceptively) easy.

The idea of crypto (to me) is a bit like evolution. We had a bunch of stupid ideas to explain how animals worked and then along came a theory that seemed to fit pretty well. When you hear it, (at least for me) "well of course that's how it works!". Simple. That's what I thought when I first heard about BTC "well course that's how we should do it!"

My problem is, and I've heard this a few times (even said it myself) "we're in a new wild west". I hear something like, well Gox, Neo, China et al are getting weeded out, and somehow "we'll be left with only the good guys".

Well, we had a "wild west" already and take look at how that turned out, USA full of good guys? (I'm talking mostly about the ones who run it of course). Never underestimate the ability of douche bags to take control and make life crappy for everyone else.

I love BTC because I'm a geek first, and a trader ... well defo somewhere waaay down the list coz I suck at it. But I still love it.

But anyway it seems to me like BTC is like when your parents are away and you've got a house party. You want as many people to come as possible because then you think your party will be amazing, but then a bunch assholes turn up, none of the nice guys are big enough to do anything about it, and then the party is ruined for most and awesome for only a few. I'm starting to wonder if that's how life works.

Until nice guys really learn how to play hard ball and keep douche bags out (at least keep them in check), no matter how good an idea crypto currency is it will still turn to shit.

I am a hardcore bitcoiner/crypto whatever, not because I will make money but because it's a good idea. That's all it needs to be to get my love.

If my time comes to defend it, I will do my best.

I am with it all the way to the moon or to the ocean floor.

PS: The banter on this thread is epic, thank you all for something interesting to read while I drink my coffee, move 1's and 0's and watch progress bars for a living.

Long live BitCoin!

My sentiments regarding this downtrend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNC2DUxJENY

That is all, your honor.

Haha excellent.

Also, Monday something happens to price. Goes up loads, or down quite a lot. I base this on NOTHING obviously, but I dunno, just kinda feels like what will happen.

That's what goes on here right?

Anyone wanna subscribe to my newsletter?

lol yep

Wow amazing service... if this is how most bitcoin services could be run we will be doing very well... thanks for helping me.

I wonder, could someone post an example of correctly formatted Gox export. I have data but I brought it into my main spreadsheet and something has changed preventing me from uploading in to coinreporting.

If I could see an original I can make my data fit this and hopefully I will succeed in uploading.

Thanks again!

Hi,

Just signed up for Pro account!

I did have my trades loaded in from CSV, but after upgrading to pro, clearing my transactions and trying the API import I seem to be having some issues... (I've sent support ticket)

However I do have a feature request...

I would like to be able to enter my transactions in a faster way then through the form.. For example my problem is that I do have old Gox history in my spreadsheet, but some of the data is not correct (some characters have changed) but the important stuff is still there i.e date, values, amount. But I can't upload into your system because there's probably some formatting issues + I don't have both BTC and EUR csv files

But to enter this manually in fields like:

Buy Amount, Sell Amount, Data, Time

.. is going to take me a loooong time. Filling in the form is way too much work.

What I'd like to see is big fat text area where you have defined a format for trade data. So I can make my own CSV data and paste it in here then your system will parse this data and create trades in my account.

So I want to be able to paste something like this (these numbers are just made up)

Code:
"2014/01/01 12:01:01, 0.5, 600, 0.50, BTCUSD, Stamp
2014/01/02 12:01:01, 1, 500, 0.30, BTCEUR, Gox
2014/01/03 12:01:01, 1, 500, 0.50, BTCLTC, Other Exchange,
2014/01/03 12:01:01, 1, 500, 0.40, LTCEUR, Other Exchange"

The headers would be something like "Date, Amount, Price, Fee, Symbol, Exchange "

I hope you know what I mean. I could easily format the data I have in what ever format was defined by the textarea.

This way I can upload my data from any exchange (even dead ones!)

The reason for this is that I don't think I can or will ever be able to get the original Gox exports (we all know what happened) but I want to be able to see these trades in my portfolio and because I already have the data I want some way to get it in faster then typing them in one by one!

I also have account on another exchange but is not listed (for LTC) and again way too much work to add these with a form.

Thanks for your time and for making a nice service for this!

Would it not be possible to track the stolen coins and find out what exchange and account was used to sell them?
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 19, 2014, 08:20:30 PM
yea ok i know its not a lot but it's what was left in there.. i know others have a lot more, I sincerely hope they have some luck also.

I really didn't expect to get that back. we'll see what happen with the BTC.

Just wanted to report I received 150EUR from Gox on the 17/02/2014, withdraw initiated on the 06/02/2014. Was not expecting that. Maybe hope is not lost?
