1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: September 24, 2020, 07:07:26 PM
Have been down for about 9-months since I moved warehouses. Kind of a bummer! Hoping to get at least partially running again for winter to heat up the new warehouse a bit, haha!

Decided to sell my Dell R815s if anyone is interested:

I have 35 total of these guys. 31 of them are in perfect working order. 1 of them throws an error code but I was still using it. 3 of them have other issues and I couldn't use them.

They go for pretty good money on e-bay still but I don't want to sell them one at a time... all of the 32 units I was running have memory and a 300GB HGST hard drive with Linux installed. It's a bit older version of Linux so will say 56-cores. Installing the new version shows all 64-cores.

I would prefer to sell them all to one person. I am willing to sell them pretty cheap. 425 each... $14,875 total.

It costs me around 850 each to buy them, add the memory, and hard drives. Selling for half.

May have to try that... I have a ton of 1060s.

Let me know if you need any help. I created a YouTube page with some easy tutorials, and feel free to stop by the Ryo telegram!

Also your hashes are welcome at my pool lol

Ryopool.cryptosewer.com

I am still trying to plan what to get into once I reconnect all my stuff... I moved out of my old building & have to get electric ready in the new one (huge pain in the butt).

As far as GPU rigs I have around 85 units with 3-6 cards each. Would your pool be able to handle it reliably if I go that route?

Right now I just a pair of computers mining until I get that all setup.

PS: Your pool tells me "Invalid address used for login" -- it works on https://ryo.miner.rocks/ -- I am mining to exchange for reference.

The 1060-3 actually gives a really good hash/watt (767/120) for mining Ryo, which is optimized for GPU mining (cryptonight-GPU)

May have to try that... I have a ton of 1060s.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: November 05, 2019, 04:13:12 PM
Here we go:

IDLE SYSTEM : 86-watts
CPU MINING ONLY (RandomX @ 1500 H/S) : 186-watts
GPU MINING ONLY (1x1060 + 5x1050Ti on X16Rv2) : 465-Watts
CPU + GPU MINING : 550-Watts

But yes, your point is totally accurate if I am only CPU mining -- H/S per watt is not super great with all that idle usage.

Seems to be some synergy here, though... "CPU Only" adds 100-watts of draw, if I'm already GPU mining it only goes up 85-watts more (this is the number I was recalling).

So at my power cost it would run me $0.3122 per day in power to ONLY mine on the CPU -- that only jumps to $0.924 per day to do both ($0.61 more)... and worst case I can make $1 a day on NiceHash with this system GPUs. This is one of my lesser system in terms of GPU earnings; it's just the one I had a monitor hooked up to this morning.

So that is the way I'll go is to stack the RandomX CPU mining on top of the GPU and my *additional* earnings rings in at the ~16 H/S per watt figure.

That's true -- I am thinking only of the CPU draw -- in the past when I measured it I was just measuring what the CPU ADDED to the draw since I was also GPU mining (I will still be doing GPU on everything except the R815s as well).
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Mining : Getting Read for Fork Question on: November 05, 2019, 03:35:26 PM
Hey guys,

Does anyone know off hand... if I can set up all my CPUs to mine Monero NOW and if XMRIG / the pool will automatically detect the switch to RandomX ?

Or... do I need to sit beside my computers waiting on the switch to flip, haha!

I have 100+ smaller CPUs and 30+ quad CPU servers that I would need to flip over... so I am hoping for the easy solution.

a quad cpu barely gets over 1500 khs , honestly i think you will be just wasting power

Yes right now it doesn't really pay well -- I am thinking if I can be right there when the algo flips to RandomX and overall network capacity dips it may be profitable once more. I have a TON of CPUs and they do better on RandomX than GPUs.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Mining : Getting Read for Fork Question on: November 05, 2019, 03:34:36 PM
Xmrig will change it automatically , just set it to coin: monero

Also because you have so many small cpus you should use xmrig proxy.

Awesome, thanks!

I haven't really messed with the proxy in the past... maybe it will be a good time to do so.

I am hoping this Monero fork to RandomX will make my decision to own around 100 pcs Xeon X5660 worthwhile, haha!

I am getting close to 1500 H/S each on them... I forgot my power data (need to re-measure) but that is *under* the 90 watts max of the CPU... so 16 H/S per watt is the minimum.

Shoot... It may be time to fire up my 100+ Xeon X5660 CPUs and my bank of Dell R815 servers again (120+ Opteron 6380).

Exciting stuff... I've had a lot of my farm turned off lately.

My X5660 CPUs are doing ~1400-1500 server side after 24 hours. Not bad!

Excited to turn the Dell's back on and give them a go =) I have read they should do around 11kh each total.

Sure hope there is a decent profit window when Monero ports.

-----

Using a profit calc right now it shows 1500 H/S at $0.45 a day (which has good profit margin on my XEON chips) and the R815s at 11kh at $3.39… and I would guess it's a good assumption network hash rate will drop A LOT after the fork? That would be nice.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: November 05, 2019, 11:39:36 AM
I believe I have 8 Gigs per CPU on nearly all of them (except one that has a bad DIMM slot). I am in the process of moving buildings so I hope I don't miss out on the initial Monero rush =)

Great info here. I've had my R815s turned totally off for a bit... all Quad 6380 machines.

Looks like may have to turn them on again when Monero forks. Doesn't seem profitable for LOKI.

Basically my entire operation is down -- x16r and x16s -- all display the same error... just says "no connection"

Worker "001" is at home... it connects on x16r.

I have a few systems on x17 at my main work location and they are all up.

http://zergpool.com/?address=1CdWHxQf41Bydd4JDxmBQ3Z1P9T6TRZdCR

Did my IP get banned or something ? Miner update needed perhaps ?

I am checking other algorithms and the same thing... "no connection" on nearly all of my work location stuff.

I can ping Zergpool & the algorithm servers no problem.

I can connect to ZPOOL no problem so my connection is fine.

I will verify that my original "sundownz" account is DEFINITELY hacked. I can't get in anymore and haven't been able to for a long time.

UPDATE

1. There have been major DDoS vendor ISP problem, which they haven't resolved within 5h, so we have changed provider and reconfigured routes now. Zergpool service is back online

At the moment 100% of my miners are not connected.

Please check now, should be ok.

Basically story is, main DDoS ISP got troubles with some fiber ports in DC, then they promised to fix quickly, they didn't, I had alternative provider which we switched over to, but funniest thing they have appeared to be on the same IP range and maybe even in same DC, as quickly became unavailable. So it plan B crashed. Now we brought in different ISP from Balkan region, which is finally working fine

Still dead

My workers at home in NC and at my warehouse in NC -- USA.

Also my friends workers in Las Vegas, NV (USA).

All down / no connection.

Thanks for heads up, indeed US endpoint was misconfigured. I have fixed it all now

Great, thanks, it's been going well for a few hours now.
