Sorry for the down time.

Last week I was changing equipment in our data center, and there was down time for few servers. My fouls at all, now everything should be ok.

Hello, guys

I send request for adding Riecoin on www.stex.com (known also as stock.exchange). We are approved but there is 1BTC adding fee for pair with BTC. I don't have such money to pay the fee. If somebody is interested to pay it let me know I will make the contact between stex and him.
Stex offers and other options to list Riecoin in ETH pair, it will cost 0.5 BTC but it is still too much for me personaly.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Both of you ziiip and pttn are right and have very good logic. I am asking not to produce debates, my point is to understand how everybody sees the things and tell his ideas freely. We need to have 100% consensus and to find the way to achieve that. Now we have newer wallet, and we have to make it usable , to make it usable we all (or at least 90% of us - pools , 24/7 nodes, miners owners and zapple.com of course) have to agree to migrate the network , to make such agreement we have to speak. Then we have to integrate changes in the newer version which will take time and programing resources. After then when all agreement conditions are met and the features are tested we can migrate to the newer wallet version.

Right now we are loosing time and if we keep doing it we may end up with one unused 16.3 which is outdated too, and one more outdated 10.2 running the network. By me our targets now should be to to attract investors and to popularize the coin, I don't know if newer wallet will do this, but definitely 10.2 which is 4 years behind will not. Of course the problems that 16.3 cant be released as official and the official site is out dated still remains. My respects to Gatra but this is not serious , OK he don't have time or don't want to be involved more or he is uneasy because can't pay the bounty , but cant leave us with tied hands.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Pablo, if you worries are about the bounty come and say that and that I have not possibility to pay now what I promised. Nobody will judge you and
I'm sure clo1 will understand and will not eat you. Everybody can be in situation where he can't do what he is promised , but a man must exit from it with honor, and silence is not honor it only looks bad. If you are really so busy delegate somebody you have trust (nobody can't convince me for 3 months don't have 30 minutes to write a word). If you don't want to be involved in this project tell, I will pay you from my personal funds expenses for the domains and for the official github rights and then you can spread them to the community (I don't want them for me, every seriously looking project do not depend on one person only). We have to move forward or this project will end up like the thousands scam coins already nobody remember.
---------------------------------------------------------------

For me no fee transactions are as good as bad. Good because looks more attractive and bad because creating potential attack. If somebody create millions transactions that will flood and block the network, So if we going with zero fees we should have some kind of protecting algorithm in the nodes. I cant get decision for myself which is better. From what I read by now for the problem with transaction version (in same link I posted for Pon13 - first post of the page) If we switch version to 1 we will lost bip68 (RLT) and I am not sure for segwit at all, if we keep it to 2 transactions created from 16.3 will be rejected from 10.2 so for the migration is critical more mining power to start using 16.3.

Is there anything new about this coin, I checked the website and it looks like they need some updates in it, it would be very nice if they do this, the site is an important part to convince investors to join in it.

You are right. To change official site rights and access have only the founder of the project and seems he is too busy right now. Also only he have rights over the official domains. The official domain is registered till 2022. That why I registered riecoin-community.com . For now we have board (forums), where we can expand themes about the Riecoin and coordinate better. If somebody serious want to start working on a modern look stylish site for the coin I can give him www.riecoin-community.com and a hosting space for it. Also can dedicate subdomain from riecoin-community.com for different project about the coin (which remind me PttnMe if you want something like pttnme.riecoin-community.com where to upload large bins send me pm on the board)
There are new about the coin, have new wallet (16.3), new miner , new community members , the things happens just the process is slow and will need more time.

Ziiip why do you think segwit is not good for the coin ? It will not hurt to have it like functionality even to not use it or activating it right now ?
The idea with never ending riecoin is cool and I am 100% agree. The unique of riecoin is its algorithm and I think we must not put limits on this. My c++ skills are not good too but I will help you in that.

The future of the coin right now depend on us. We can have voting on the community board about the direction to where the coin should be developed.

Greetings,

To: clo1
Couple of weeks ago made this patch:
http://download.riecoin-community.com/16.0/riecoind_16.0_openssl_1.1.patch.gz
At least the wallet can be compiled for openssl 1.1 or up. With it wallet can connect on testnet and all is fine but on main net it have troubles, maybe I missed something. if you have time can check it. I will check it again but my time last weeks are very little.
...

For 16.3
http://download.riecoin-community.com/16.3/riecoind_16.3_openssl_1.1.patch.gz

Revisit the patch and tested , the wallet can be build with libssl 1.0 and libssl 1.1 or up , syncing on the network and seems to work.  Tested and build on Debian stable (9 - stretch) and Debian unstable (sid).

Send you PM on community board.

Ziiip is right working miner instances should be as much as numa nodes in the systems are and locked to each numa node. You can do this with command taskset under linux. On muticore CPUs maybe better will be to run one instance for each core and lock the entire process to one core (taskset under linux).

Hello guys

Very good work clo1 !!! And to you pttn !

I wrote few words in community board about openssl 1.1 and created a patch for 16.0 you can check there in developers corner.

For faster sync I don't think is good idea to easier the miller-rabin test, we should keep it as close to 10.2 as possible, because this may lead to forks. miller-rabin is probabilistic test, so some nodes may accept the prime the others may reject, as many test is done more sure is, it will be accept by all.

GMPlib have high optimized miller-rabin test as far as I know, and I believe it will be faster than openssl, but strong tests will be needed to see if openssl and gmplib will give same result for all blocks we have by now.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WITHDRAW YOUR RIECOINS FROM POLONIEX IMMEDIATELY ! POLONIEX WILL STOP THEIR RIECOIN WALLET IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS !

All Riecoins left in Poloniex will be their property after they stop the wallet.

To pools owners: Please put warning message for your users on your sites, and if you have your client's mails, try to send them warning messages.

If people don't remove their coins, are they considered as "burned" meaning reduction in total circulating supply ?

Posted something that might be interesting for you in Private Themes, only registered users can see it.

  Ahoy,

  After few mails with coinmarketcap team, I think understand what we should do to help zapple be listed. That will help also Riecoin info to be updated and show again on CMC. I wrote detailed step by step what you should do here:
https://forum.riecoin-community.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11
It will not take more than 5 minutes, but if we send them enough requests I hope they will add zapple and will start update Riecoin price on coinmarketcap.

i've registered as well however cant get activation email in hotmail account. not even in junk.
i resent activation email twice but no luck so far. sometimes though it takes a bit of time to receive activation emails in hotmail for some reason.
i ll inform if and when i receice activation email

  Greetings, Pon13

  First thank you for testing and reporting issues. I think fixed all email related problems with hotmail and gmail.
  Microsoft and Google mail servers have very strict spam check filter on email headers, and there ware the problems. If you not received confirmation mail, you can try resend it again and see if all works. Another email checking can be done via reset password feature.

Could sign up without issues now Smiley Except verification mail to gmail ended up in junk mail.

Thanks millepag ! I will check why gmail do not like mails from the forum and will try fix it. Can you check also permissions of the forums, you should be able to create topics only in general discussions (do not worry what will be the topic, it can be hide after Smiley)

 Opened:
   https://forum.riecoin-community.com

 Not finished yet, and need somebody to register and test. There are to do things, but will be on the fly.

 To can order well the board, thinking to dedicate for each exchange and pool own forum on the board. Pool or exchange owners (or who they point to be responsive for) will have full rights over their own forum, so they will moderate it self.

  News and howto forums are read only, and maybe is better to stay such to not bloat them. If somebody want to start writing with me HOWTOs and Information about the riecoin, I will delegate him rights to can create new topic/posts.

  General discussions are the place where everybody can start topics and do posts.

  Thinking to do 2 more forums: developer corner and mining software. In developer corner we can have discussions about everything what we plan to write as software for riecoin, and in mining software, people who created mining software can have own forum or thread.

What do you thinking ?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: August 20, 2018, 06:32:55 PM
  Greetings millepag

Has anyone tried to contact them regarding this? I'd say getting relisted at CoinMarketCap is quite important, no?

  I am not tried to contact coinmarketcap, but every advertising right now is important.

I've worked as a developer (mainly js/.net/mssql) for many years. Anything at all I can help with - I'd be happy to. Unfortunately, I have very limited experience with C/C++. But there might be something else for the community site. If you can think of anything, I'm a pm away.

Thank you for your help offer. These days I'm working to deploy new hosting machine which will carry VMs where to put community things. Forum nearly ready but fighting with phpbb bulshits, also need to customize few things in php scripts to make it look more professional and riecoin oriented. Anyway soon will announce it.
  About the site, Yes, I need a lot of help there ! If somebody can start working on it will be great.. here is what I'm thinking about...

  1. Simple design, should be very intuitive (like for americans Smiley), responsive of course, should look good on mobile and on desktop.
  2. Mostly informative, we will put information about algorithm, how to install wallet, different miners, pools, links, everything. I believe as many information we can give to all, as many people we will attract to community and to the project.
  3. As hopeguy mention it , news section is necessary.
I'm sure missing a lot of things, so everybody can say freely what thinking and ideas about the site.

I have and one other idea where your skills will be helpful, but it is still in early stage in my mind... Open source web wallet with payment API and SDK (think of it like paypal is, but for riecoin). So people who want (also easy way for those who don't want to install own wallets), can store their coins there, and merchandisers who want to accept payment in riecoins can integrate something small (mostly js) to their sites. And all of this open source, so if somebody or some organization want to create own web wallet or own all payment system, can get it for free Smiley. It will not be easy because a lot of security problems, but if we struct well the code from beginning and write it clear , will be possible. I have not searched if there are currently something like this for other coin, but if there are we could use something from it.

Unfortunately, as I did not study the miner optimizations, I do not have any idea of what are the "segment hits" :| ...

My quick look over the code, leading me to few thoughts... As I understand segment_hits is pointer to array of pointers, the way you declare it, and use it may lead to sure memory leaks. In C (not sure for C++ but should be same) when you just declare pointer, it points to nowhere in the memory.
In C I would declare and initialize it like this...

uint32_t **segment_hits;
sgment_hits = malloc( maxiter * sizeof(uint32_t *) );
if ( !segment_hits ) {do something allocation of memory failed}
for (int i=0; i < maxiter; i++) {
   segmet_hits\[i\] = malloc( entriesPerSegment * sizeof(uint32_t) );
   if ( !segment_hits\[i\] ) {do something allocation of memory failed}
}
note: The forum do not allow me to directly put "[" and "]" thats why I'm escaping them.

Also check deeper the code, because from what i see usage of segment_hits in your code may go out of array boundaries. Anyway, when I start riecoin community forum we may move there to talk for that and to look deeper in codes Smiley

Hope this helps.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: August 17, 2018, 04:53:31 PM
The failure is a bad alloc, so I do not think that the problem is CPU related. Just for fun, I compiled it once on a Pentium 3 laptop, unfortunately it has this issue. But I encountered it in some recent computers as well. I suspect that for some reason, rieMiner needs much more memory to start, than it actually uses/needs. I will investigate this later in September. I likely just removed one line too much or so.

This exception is throw when "new" in C++ cant allocate memory. In fact calling new not guarantee it will allocate the needed memory. So it throw that exception and you have to handle it in your code, or you can stop throwing the exception and you should check if returned pointer is not null. Second method is slower, so first one is better practice. On P3 machine it is obvious that there is not enough memory, but if you doubt about memory leaks valgrind and gdb are your best friends. They will show you where you allocating memory and not freeing it.
  In DGA's fastrie miner there is some points where memory leaks are possible. but they are not a problem. It is always good practice to call "delete" in C++ when you don't need any more allocated memory from heap with "new" and  to call mpz_clear for mpz structures, even when there is no obvious point to do it.

Hello i have some riecoin on polonie someone knows how i can move it or exchange them ?

Hello, jhdscript

As Poloniex delisted riecoin you cant exchange them directly there. You have couple options...

1. Start your own wallet (linux or windows), sync it to the network, generate your riecoin address, and withdraw your RICs from poloniex to your wallet.

2. Create registration on zapple.com (only exchange which support ric at the moment), and move your coins there.

3. There is web wallet version, see somewhere in previous posts.

If you decide to try variant 1. read this:

http://download.riecoin-community.com/README.txt

There I wrote what you need to run your own wallet under linux and windows.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: August 17, 2018, 01:16:29 PM
Oh Ok, this is fine in this case. I just expected that there would be much more blocks, and new ones found regularly, so I thought that something was wrong. Lol, I just mined hundreds of blocks at the rate of 1 block each 3 second or so, difficulty 304 is so low. In contrast, I was unable to mine anything using the wallet's built-in miner. I might leave one mining thread for the testnet network, so developers and testers can experience more realistic behavior when using it. A Testnet explorer would be welcome too. Thank you again for your nodes, and your reply.

  When you developing miner it will be better to have low difficulty, so checking if your algorithm is right will be faster, it is annoying to must wait hours or days just to check if block you found is correct Smiley

If anyone is interested in, I merged the original gatra's miner (rminerd) and the latest dave-andersen's one (fastrie), so anyone can solo mine Riecoins using the optimized algorithm. Here is the rieMiner's GitHub repository.

  Cool, my plans are to build riecoin community site with a lot HOWTOs and information about riecoin so if you don't mind will include your miner. Your source code looks very clean and ordered, it is good to have as much as possible different and various software for riecoin, that will attract more people to the community.

Currently, you should be able to compile it easily on Linux and Windows. The miner works fine on my computer, and is currently mining blocks, but for some reason, its execution might fail in some computers. Moreover, only the old protocol Getwork is supported. I plan to work on it on September and later to add the GetBlockTemplate (and custom payout addresses) and Stratum (and pool mining as well) protocols support, a benchmark mode (dummy mining at constant difficulty), and fix remaining problems.

  With what error execution fails ? You are using gmplib which is highly optimized for calculations, and big parts from it are in assembler. It gives big speedup but portability is lower, for example if you compile with gmplib optimized for i7 or xeon it will fail to run on P4. many modern compilers put by default optimizing flag -mtune=native which will auto detect CPU instructions set and will optimize for it, which can break portability too. Maybe to be portable one cpu miner you should use -march=pentium4 your code will run on any modern CPU , but you will lose speed.

Thank you IGJ (and everyone who supports the project).

Unfortunately, using your nodes, I am stuck at block 34 (36 weeks behind). Do I need to configure something else? Does anyone have more Testnet IPs?

  Hello, PttnMe

Official testnet nodes, that are hardcoded into the latest stable version do not work since years. That list are my nodes I started before, and using them from time to time to testing builds or miner modification. It is not stuck, just there is only 34 blocks left on them from my tests.

I can sync main chain to testnet if you need it for your tests, but it will add a lot sync time. Anyway if you need exactly that let me know.

At all you don't need something else to configure in your wallet to enable testnet.
