1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible for a single person to hold multiple Bitcoin wallets? on: July 22, 2015, 02:48:52 PM
Sorry for the very noob question, but I googled for it without finding a proper answer.

What I mean is not moving your wallet from a provider to another, but having multiple different wallets containing different amounts of bitcoins.

Of course it is, you can have as many bitcoin wallets as you can be bothered to create Grin
Personally I advise you to have -

1.) At least 1 fully synced bitcoin core wallet
2.) Multiple paper wallets for cold storage (safe offline storage)
3.) One online/mobile wallet for everyday spending of small/medium amounts

Spread your main bitcoin stash equally amongst 1.) & 2.)

I have all 3 of the above plus a trezor but I won't explain that yet as you're still a noob. Good luck bro.

Correct answer…  I prefer a hardware wallet for offline storage…But paper works too.

I don't  hate Islam per se .... In my book it's exactly the same as any other religion. They annoy me all equally. Believing the world was created for you speaks volumes of the ignorance and arrogance of the people who buy into those doctrines. That's what I hate .... the stupidity of it all.

This.
I admire and envy people like you that can sum up so well Tongue

Except they are not all the same.  Look at the following.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dKdBlKgquw

This is the singer, Sinead O'Conner, ripping up a picture of the Catholic Pope as a protest against sexual abuse in the Catholic Church in 1992.

We could say it was roughly similar to cartooning Mohammed.

People were outraged at her doing this.

But you know what?  Nobody came after her with AK47s or tried to cut her head off.

So, much as I would like to agree "it's exactly the same as any other religion," well, no it isn't.

You are confusing the followers with the religion ... the religion does not commit violence, it's followers do. Religions are just memes/ideas ... incredibly ignorant ones .. That's where they are equals Wink

I am assuming you are being sarcastic, since you chose to end your comment with a tongue.

However, summarizing and boiling down to a single point is (in my humble opinion anyway) the only way to get your message across to the average person with a 6 second attention span.
Not to mention there's no convincing the devout... so ... there's no point in me spending any more energy on being eloquent than I absolutely have to.

it might be a planet, but it will never be a world

correct sir, I agree with you. no one in the universe is beautiful as earth, Smiley

And how would you know that??? Did you personally inspect the 6-8 billion 'habitable' planets our galaxy has? And did you do the same for the other 100+ billion galaxies??? ... what an utterly ignorant statement :p

Hi ... ten days since I moved all my coins to an address with just 1 input .... before i was at least getting like 10 AidBit every hour ... now it doesn't stake whatsoever ... it just uses the first address for staking (which is my mining wallet) and completely ignores the other two addresses which contain the bulk of my AidBit ...

Lost more then a month of stake already .... and seems I am going to have to move it again to an entirely different wallet to make the staking work and thus loose out on 7 more days :S

I will try to replicate it, but on my end I haven't noticed anything similar. I wouldn't move the coins, I'd just leve the wallet to do its job. Are you sure you didn't miss it, it could've staked just once and burned all the coin age. For instance I've got 300k in one piece and the last reward it earned was 2510AID.

Will investigate it, though.

Thanks,

V.

Nope .. double checked my transaction logs ... it only used the 4K I had in my mine wallet (with 23 inputs) to stake and that gave me 20 AID, staking completely ignored my stake wallet (320K, 1 input) and swap wallet (2 inputs at that time) .. I just created a new wallet on another box and moved the sum I intend to use for staking there ... lets see in 7 more days again.

Well, coin control is indeed working nicely (when I keep the total amount of bytes below 100.000) and I am in currently the process of moving all around (bitchjob, but if I can stake for my full amount well worth it) ...  any reason for that 100Kb border by the way?

(This does explain some other issues I had with other coins I mined for a longer period; with Myriad for example I could not send more then ~ 100K , so I guess it's common behaviour)

For anyone else who is moving coins by coin control:  the sweet spot seems to be 675 inputs

Also, this is unrelated, but a request:

The installer with the miners is nice, especially to attract new blood to the crypto-scene .. but I am the kind of guy who has been around a bit longer and has his own setups for mining on 1 machine and runs all his wallets from an encrypted USB-stick (using bash scripts, with -datadir=. to keep the wallet.dat etc there too) on another machine.

Simply put I want nothing wallet related on my miner, nor do I want anything mining related on my wallet USB.

So my 'problem' is, when I want to update (except for the beta you just posted), I have to either compile the latest source myself or install the update and manually move the executable to my USB.
To make my life a bit easier it would be nice if you not only provided links to the installer, but to the qt-wallet itself too.

Thx Smiley

I wonder why the amount that is being staked is always that low ... I have over 300K .. but it never stakes more the 6K ... kinda defeats the purpose of having more then those 6K imho, at first I thought it was maybe the coin-age .. but it's near a month now and still stake is just peanuts Sad

I will look into it, but from top of my head, the wallet may stop adding inputs if number of inputs exceeds 100. This could be the case if you're staking with your mining wallet. I just modified Coin Control to allow easier selection of inputs (see the beta version above). Try to combine the inputs manually by selecting them in Coin Control and sending the amount to your address. Number of bytes should not exceed 100,000.

Thanks,

V.

Well, yes I am using the wallet I mine to, since the 3rd of august roughly every 5 min a transaction, so that would be a lot of inputs yes Wink
I will try the new wallet .. and otherwise I will have to move it to a diff address, but then they have to mature again.

Thx,
EeeeeK

Edit:

10911 inputs ... mwoah Wink
UI becomes unresponsive when selecting all ... I'll let it run for a bit

Yes, they got forked at 85K ... several pools did not do the mandatory update, 1 external seednode did accidently not update and a lot of miners didn't either ... net got forked bad, I know the dev is working on it like crazy. Right now they are trying to determine whether they merge the chains or revert to 85K (the point of the fork).

WTF the price went down to the floor and the dev is not doing anything about it we need someone to take over this project the current dev can't handle it..

So, the dev was not doing anything? I wonder how this new update came to be then Tongue

Running through the commits for this new wallet I see:

  • Fork at 85.000
  • New reward scheme added
  • New functions added (makekeypair?)
  • New IRC-module added (with custom build serverimplementation)
  • New flag added (-testirc) for IRC-debugging and logging
  • New checkpoints added
  • New alert key set

Did I miss anything? Smiley

Actually I happen to know the dev is doing a lot about it, new wallet coming in a few days, but you wouldn't know since you never bothered to visit the IRC or forum or anything before you made dumb claims ... acting like you are a part of the community .. lol .. this is the first time you ever show your face and you start talking about take-overs? Sod off allready! We don't need people like you.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AID] AidBit | Digital-currency redefined | POW/POS | Groestl | Charity on: July 10, 2014, 07:38:05 PM
Opinions are not equal to facts .. just look at the cold hard numbers ... 3% of the coin supply is 3% of the coin supply.
Granted, you get yours over time (which is indeed less morally apprehensive then taking it all at once at the start), but either way in the end 3% is yours.

I happen to run my own pools (at 1%) for Groestl-based coins, and this is plenty to cover the operational cost. Just put a 1-2% fee on your official pool and remove the percentage of every block. I woud not just mine but would consider hosting a pool then too.

If you really think you need 3% of your entire coin supply to cover your hosting, you do show not much trust in the potential value of your own coin or you have picked the most expensive hosting company in the world Wink
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AID] AidBit | Digital-currency redefined | POW/POS | Groestl | Charity on: July 10, 2014, 07:06:58 PM
3% premine or 3% taken of every block, there is no real difference. Either way the devs end up with 3% of the total coinsupply ... which is huge!

Just for example look at AtheistCoin (not trying to sell you on that one, merely a good example), those devs put in a lot of time too, it is also Groestlbased and has no premine, no rewards for dev and no IPO, those devs are not trying to fill their own pockets .... also the donations for charity at AtheistCoin are on volunteer basis not a mandatory 10% of every block ... those guys are giving the right example in this land of (hidden) premines, IPOs, percentages for devs and so on... their philosophy is (and I agree with it), if your coin is good and you trust in it as a dev you don't need a premine or a percentage, just mine and trade it yourself Smiley

Don't get me wrong .. I think this coin has some very good ideas and could be a success, I really like the built-in miner (although I wonder how you are going to deal with GPU across platforms etc) and Groestl is a really nice algo ... but mandatory 13% of every block is way, way too much. Allow people to donate volunteerly and remove the 3% pocketfilling of the dev and I will mine this for sure.

Can anyone who can read Chinese translate? Because Google Translate does not really make sense to me.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ATH] ATHEISTCOIN | DGW3 | GROESTL-based on: June 14, 2014, 04:26:55 PM
All this talk about a bug, but nobody showing any proof ... linked sgminer github from veox can't even mine Groestl (it is missing the groestl-kernel files) and the sgminerGRS.rar does nothing special, it's just the default sgminer for GRS .. I tested this on my own rig and it is just the normal miner. How can we fix a 'bug' when nobody can show us the 'bug' or any proof of the issue being in our coin? Especially since all information given turns out to be false or wrong?

If you claim this a bug, give us proof ... show screenshots .. point us to the pool where this happens, link to mining software that actually mines groestl and has this problem. So far we have not seen any of those things. If you can not, how are we supposed to take any of this serious?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ATH] | DGW3 | GROESTL-based on: June 14, 2014, 03:05:19 PM

now!!!!  somebody have a special software  , it can make about 100g Hashrates  this program name is Sgminer-grs.rar do u any idea to solve this problem slove  I can provide the software  the software link is https://github.com/veox/sgminer

That is just sgminer from veox ... nothing special about it ... as a matter of fact, the link you are supplying does not even come with groestl.cl and groestlcoin.cl ... so you can not mine groestlbased coins with it ...
I tried the Sgminer-grs.rar, but nothing weird there either ... getting the exact same hash as I was with dwarfpool miner ... so to conclude, it can't be the coin, otherwise Groestl would be affected too, it is not the miner software, or at least not the ones you are linking to .. that leaves the pools. I however believe ocminer when he says he is not detecting fake shares.. maybe (just maybe, coz I have no proof) people were exploiting some loophole in the pool software, but if they were they aren't at suprnova anymore.

Either way .... there is nothing wrong with the coin, and the sgminers you link to have no special features, hell, the one you link to on github can't even mine groestl... whit that much false information I have to suspect this is just a FUD attempt.
