Heads up.

For those who are waiting, there's approximately 1 more hour left until fork height.

Sorry I'm trying to understand how to claim IPBC as stated above.
Can the IPBC team clarify what are the steps to take pre and post fork at 140000

I'm currently mining TUBE on the TUBE network with an IPBC wallet address.
Does it just before 140k, we empty out our TUBE wallet and use our TUBE keys/seed on IPBC wallet?
Appreciate if you explain the steps

thanks

Pre-fork, you do not have to do anything, except maybe transfer your TUBE to a wallet that you control the mnemonic seed to.
Post-fork, you'll automatically receive your IPBC if you have TUBE in your wallet at height 139999 (we are actually forking 1 block before 140000). You will need to import your mnemonic seed into the IPBC GUI/CLI/web wallet to claim your IPBC. This can be done at any time after the fork.

Generally, it is not a good idea to import a wallet with balance into a third-party software, which is why we recommend transferring out your TUBE before claiming your IPBC. Your IPBC remains in whatever wallet you had your TUBE in at 139999. The safety precaution is not required to claim your IPBC coins (Bittube and IPBC can share the same address), but highly recommended as a good practice for any airdrop.

In light of the recent problems with bulletproof (double-count bug), and the incomplete technical reviews, which won't be available until September, we have decided to disabled bulletproof.
Bulletproof will be enabled at a later date when it is confirmed production-ready.

Very interesting project ideology! Smiley
Should ASICs catch up with Tube CN-heavy algo, would there be a prompt fork to mitigate said threat?

I think it'll be quite sometime before someone can come up with an effective asic for Tube CN-heavy, but yes, we will promptly update the algo if it comes to that Wink

Is the "no fees" character going to be mantained throughout the entirety of the project?  Grin

That would defeat the purpose of this project, now would it? Wink
To clarify: I will not support any attempt to add fee to to project. My partner feels the same way, and I am confident that the community will never allow for this to happen for IPBC once a steering committee is established (which is our long-term to extended-term goal for IPBC).

I don't need the dev fee to support myself or this project, but in the worst-case scenario, we can rely on donation for the foundation or if cost gets out of hand.
We decided against putting up a donation link up for the time being, because we feel that we need to present a good working product before we should be compensated for any our work.

When are Exchange listings scheduled to happen?

that is ultimately up to the exchanges we are negotiating with to decide.

"Android and iOS lightwallets on the same backend" - it would be good to add windows phone wallet.

I have not developed for the Windows Phone platform before, but we can give it a shot after completing the Android/iOS lightwallet.
Thank you for your suggestion!

For the record, this project has nothing to do with the real BitTube. But I wish you all good luck. Maybe pornhub will accept you one day. Wink

Thank you for the clarifications.
Pornhub accepting us would be great Wink

Cheers, and good luck from the IPBC team!

And yes, we will be changing the emission curve at fork height.

We received a lot of feedback on this from our Discord community, and decided that without the video platform, there's no need for a slower emission curve.
We have already tested the change, and found that the block reward is expected to drop slightly at fork height (to around 335 IPBC per block, but without the 30% governance fee), and will decrease about 4 times faster than TUBE over time.

So you are abandoning the video platform concept..? and u are just making another CN coin?Just gonna use the CN Saber algo?  I'm missing something?? Are u against the 3% fee that will be used half for marketing and the other half to compensate the owners of bit.tube that have invested allot of their own money to develop this project and pay for the salaries of many devs and employeez..??

we like the video concept, but we also like to have a clean cn coin on current and updated technology without ANY fee.

Sure because why give anyone any inneciative to actually develop anything. And btw what will generate the request for your coins? Why buy it?

Hi MinedTangerine,

We updated our ANN to clarify the goals of this project.
In a nutshell: we will provide a strong and stable network, and build up the framework that will allow merchants and laypersons to easily use our coin.
We will provide some example products that utilize this framework, as marketing material, and will help people build their own shops and platforms that will utilize the coin.
We want to create a project that can be built upon outside of the core-dev team. That's what we mean by creating a universally accepted currency.

It is up to the market to decide the value of the coin. We have no concerns over its price.

Well, that's interesting. Will this coin be listed anywhere?
The timing is kind of ambiguous...

We're currently negotiating with several exchanges, but to avoid unnecessary speculations, we will not be disclosing our exchange plans at this time.

We announced our mainnet early to prepare pool operators for the open launch to ensure proper decentralization of hashrate from fork height onward.
Mining on our pool right now will generate both Bittube and IPBC coins (same as if you were mining on a Bittube pool).
However, do note that the 3% governance fee applies to both coins before the fork height (we do not collect this fee), and that the mempools are not shared by the two networks, so you will not be processing transactions from the Bittube network on our network, and vice versa.

So what will be the usecase of this coin? The usecase of bittube is their platform, not the mining algorithm? Makes no sense in my opininion

Hi Skyyat!

IPBC strives to be a universally accepted currency with a focus on blockchain security, and advanced features like Bulletproof and RingCT.
We do not want to limit our coin to a single platform, and will be removing Bittube's governance fee.

Interplanetary Bittube Coin (IPBC)
Private, Untraceable, Anonymous
IPBC Website - Github - Discord - Twitter

Interplanetary Bittube Coin (IPBC) is a hard fork of the well known Bittube, combining
the best features of cryptonote technology without Premine or Governance fees!
Made by the community, for the community, IPBC aims to be a universally accepted currency.
As a community-based open-source project, released under the BSDv2 license,
everyone is welcome to contribute to our project!

The Miners' Grievance and the Call for a Better Coin

The idea of creating a fork from Bittube emerged from the tightly-knitted Bittube mining community,
who are responsible for keeping the network secured from malicious attacks and disruptions.
The addition of a 30% governance fee in the upcoming Bittube fork goes against this goal.
IPBC will remove all such fees, and distribute the full block reward back to our miners!
Our Team will add no premine or fee, and previous fees are disabled from forkheight onwards.
We will continue to adopt Bittube's updates, excluding any kind of fees.
All miners are welcome to join us at fork height!

Preparing for the Hardfork

#Claiming your IPBC Coins#

IPBC coins can be accessed using Bittube private keys or seed. Owners will automatically receive IPBC
at a 1:1 ratio by importing the keys to the IPBC wallet.
However, for maximum security, it is recommended that all Bittube owners empty their respective
Bittube wallets to a different wallet before they enter private keys outside of Bittube.
Any exchange that supports the IPBC fork will airdrop the new coin after the fork.

#Mining your IPBC Coins#

By utilizing the unique Tube Cryptonight-Heavy PoW algorithm, our network can be efficiently mined on a modern gaming-grade GPU,
ensuring competitive mining profits, and avoiding any unnecessary dumping by large industrialized mining farms.
We are preparing an open launch at block height 140,000-1, and will be launching the official pool shortly before said fork height to ensure so.
There will be no snapshot. We will be forking alongside Bittube with no disruptions to either networks.
Any pool supporting the fork will automatically switch over to the IPBC network at fork height.
Since both Bittube and IPBC can share the same wallet addresses, you can continue
mining on our network using your old Bittube address.

Our Goals and Missions is to Provide:

A reliable network of seeds, extensible by stakeholders
A lightning fast explorer and backup explorer with API
A simple opensource light webwallet with local private key storage in the browser only (https://testnet-wallet.ipbc.rocks/)
Android and iOS lightwallets on the same backend
Libraries to add IPBC payment option to common web shoppingcart systems
IPBC-bingo.com, IPBC-roulette.com, or some other simple examples to demonstrate usage of those libraries.
From there, we will allow the market and community to decide the direction of our coin.

update 7/28/18: Due to overwhelming feedback from the community, we are changing the emission curve at fork height.
Total supply have been lowered from 1B to 250M, and emission factor has been decreased from 22 to 20.
The block reward at fork height will go down slightly, and will decrease about 4x faster compared to Bittube.

update 8/7/18: In light of the recent problems with bulletproof (double-count bug), and the incomplete technical reviews,
which won't be available until September, we have decided to disabled bulletproof.
Bulletproof will be enabled at a later date when it is confirmed production-ready.
