How do you think the next gen, ASIC rigs work for mining scrypt-based algorithms?  Considering scrypt mining utilizes graphic processing power & memory, whereas SHA mining utilizes only the GPU/CPU, will ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) based rigs work better for SHA than for scrypt?

there is no suchs thing as asic scrypt

really?  since scrypt only utilizes some processing power, wouldn't an application specific integrated circuit work better with scrypt?  Forgive my ignorance, I just heard about ASIC rigs yesterday.
Dude, you're mixing it all up, I could barely understand what you were typing. ASIC is SPECIFIC, and in our case, specific for SHA-256 algorithms, and as such, it cannot, and will not work for solving anything but SHA-256 algorithms.
What you need to look for is ASIC for Scrypt, which does not exist currently (except for some hybrid, but honestly, with its poor performance, I wouldn't be surprised if they just took chips form GPUs and integrated it).

So as cisahasa wrote, there is no such thing as ASIC for scrypt.

wait... asic means application specific... not algorithm specific.  why then, do ASICs only run SHA?  is it just bc all the ASICs currently out there are 256 bit? or what?  because just from the name, ASIC sounds like you could run SHA or scrypt.  as in, "this circuit is specifically built/integrated for mining applications."  I guess you might be saying that the ASICs out there are not integrated in such a way as to share the workload with the memory (since scrypt mining utilizes much more memory)?  So they could not be used for scrypt hashing?

but, yeah, like I also said, I'm new to the concept of ASIC.  just trying to work this out in my mind so I can grasp the concept.
