3  Economy / Speculation / Re: China buying up Bitcoins! on: March 30, 2014, 09:30:05 PM
Bitcoin > China...

Who cares if they buy or sell or ban BTC.

It seems it's the majority of people.  I see lots of China talk around these parts!

Well, if it is causing you angst I'd say that remaining on this forum isn't going to do your mental health much good.

Stick to http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/ if you want to keep on top of things in a slightly more constructive and objective environment.

Thank you!  I like how posts are marked as bullish and bearish.  I'm too new to realize the difference sometimes.

I would have no issue making a buy to decrease my average if I knew that bitcoin was on the rise.  I made my last buy just a few days ago at $480 and here I sit pissed off at this price of $450.  If I'm going to make a buy I really need to hit the true bottom where in the short term I know that the bitcoin will go up and I can make a little money.  I haven't made a profitable buy since 2013.  Everything I've bought this year has cost me money.  So frustrating.

Looks like a double bottom to me!  Grin

YES!  Much tan.  Such nice!

I'm desperate for bitcoin to go back up.  I stand to lose everything.  When do you think we see bitcoin climb steadily?  It's been on the decline for months now.  HELP

Why the desperation? Do you have bills to pay or do you just want a quick payoff?

I think it'll be a good while before we're back over $1000 but the weight behind the ecosystem grows daily as do the number of scumbags being cast aside.

Yes I will need to sell within the next few months to pay some bills.  I owe the IRS and therefore am going to be behind budget for some time to come.  Also need some summer tires.  I just need bitcoin to go up within the next few months.  I can't wait a year.  I'm so desperate.  And I'm not as informed as some here.  What I don't understand is in October and November we'd see huge drops but just as quickly we'd see huge gains.  They all seemed to come pretty close to each other.  If it dropped $100 in a day, no problem because within a day or two it'd go right back up and maybe even higher.  This time around it's a GRIND.  And the only fast movements seem to be down, not up.  The only quick rise was that bounce up to around $700 a few weeks back.  Other than that it's been very depressing for someone in my position.

I'll preface this question with saying I'm new around here so please forgive my ignorance.  Why does the price not rise and rise fast when there are a lot more people bidding then asking?  Isn't that the same as buying and selling?  We have a lot of people trying to buy and few people trying to sell yet we seem to be going nowhere but down slowly?

shortcovering? =\

I've got a lot to learn.  I have no idea what that is.

Lots of ass talk

When people mention double or triple bottoms it'd be nice if we had some pics of nice perfect round bottoms to help us see  Shocked.  Should be a requirement.

Does anyone has a explanation why we did have a 15-25$ spread between the western and the asian exchanges in the last 2-3 weeks?
Havenīt we been mostly equal before?

More people selling in China than elsewhere where more coins are probably being bought up?  Just a guess.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: how much do you really think this will go up in value? on: March 29, 2014, 03:09:12 AM
$0.  First off bitcoin is easily replaceable.  But the biggest reason IMO it will fail is the volatility of the currency.

Consider this.

What would happen if someone wanted to purchase a car and had the bitcoin to do so, but the market is a bear market and there's a 20% decrease in the value of bitcoin overnight? What's he going to do?  He had $20,000 in bitcoins one day but the next day he had $16,000 in bitcoins due to the drop.  HODL for a month and wait until his bitcoins are back to being worth $20,000 so he can buy his car?  But the guy needs the car NOW.  He's got a new job and kids and there's no way he can get by without wheels.

Everybody on this forum just screams HODL all the time and doesn't realize that HODLING through the drops is not going to work out too well for someone who is 100% bitcoin and uses that bitcoin to pay for their food, rent and other bills.

He hasn't logged on for some time.  The fog is growing rather thick.  One would expect their support to be a bit more proactive considering these issues have spanned days/weeks at this point.  Instead, silence.

Something may have triggered their defense setup where wallets get locked if any foul play is detected.  It took me dozens of confirmations and about 12 hours to get my deposit today.  And my withdrawal which shows that it finished up hours ago shows no activity on the blockchain and no bitcoins in my wallet.  Messaged their support on the site.  I'm sure they'll come through.  Bitcoin fog seems like good peoples.
19  Economy / Speculation / Any other salesmen on this board? I'd like to hear some bitcoin pitches on: February 21, 2014, 03:03:30 AM
So bitcoin is about to have the first bitcoin ATM's in a few US cities here in the near future if they aren't already out.  But the reality is bitcoin is a niche market.  Most people aren't aware of bitcoin or aren't interested or just don't know what bitcoin is or how they could use it.

I own a stake in bitcoin and want to see it succeed.  But as a salesman I find it hard to pitch to my friends.  If you're familiar with the acronym AIDA which stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action I'd like to hear how you would pitch bitcoin relating to those points.  I can easily get attention but I struggle with building interest.  And of course they fall in order so without interest there is no desire and there is no action, which is buying bitcoins.

I'm in software sales.  I sell lead software to insurance agents.  When I'm selling my product I ask questions and try to figure out the agents' problem.  And then I proceed to sell them on how my product can solve the problem they have.  With bitcoin, I feel lost to figure out what problems bitcoin can solve.  Most of the rebuttals I get are stuff like "there's already a payment app for that so I don't need bitcoins when I can transfer money easily."  "It's too volatile" they say.  "It'll get hacked or stolen and it's not backed up like my money is at the bank" and the like.

So guys, please help me.  Tell me how I could pitch bitcoin differently.  Tell me how it solves problems.  That way I can get more people involved with bitcoin.  If I can't, I think bitcoin is destined to fail.  People have to WANT something.  Be it a good or service there has to be a need.  A demand.  And beyond criminals and investors who don't mind about as much volatility as a person could handle I can't find practical uses for bitcoins to sell people on.  Thanks.

Oh also I'm new around here so if this is in the wrong section please feel free to move.  Thanks!
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to go back up guys!! on: February 21, 2014, 02:09:55 AM
I just want to say congrats on a piss poor investment!  Bitcoin is trending down if you haven't noticed.  China took us to heights we will never see again.  Your $550 coins will be worth $450 in a week.  $350 in 2.  $250 in 3.  $150 in 4.  And less than $100 in just 5 weeks.  That's right.  You heard it here first.
