1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon releases A9 Zmaster 50ksol/s Equihash miner at 620W on: September 06, 2018, 02:15:45 PM
Did somebody manage to overclock and run stable? And how high? Is there a legit way to do it?

I would very much also like to know this.

I haven't overclocked yet at all but I would like to start soon.

2 went online on 2nd of July
1 on 18th of July
an another 1 on 20th of August

What was the first price and MOQ back then in June?

The first price was $10,000 USD for 1 and MOQ was 1 unit. Quickly after, coupon came to get another for $2,500. I had to pay massive 30% customs fees for those first as well.

I have had all 5 online before August. Started June 22.

How are you almost break even already?

I bought the first 2 units in June and the other 3 in July.

Is that Batch #1?

 Cool

I am nearly break even. So either BTC (because I exchanged) has to go up or September mining should be over 30-40$, then I think I am fine. But still: You are right, it is not the crazy profit you would expect. But we had a bear market. Imagine we mined like this 1 year ago.

Yes, you are right...

How many did you buy and when?

I hate be negative but man...I have to ask.

Are we all idiots for thinking mining is a good business? I am almost embarrassed by my stupidity.

I believe I was seduced by the pretty numbers. But none of it is profit until the miners are paid off completely...

Looking at the data for the last three months for this miner, I have my doubts if I will even be able to return the investment I made to buy the 5 miners before it no longer makes sense to mine b/c of the cost of electricity and rent.

It's sad to me to think I am looking forward to breaking even and forgetting about all this instead of actually churning some profit.

What is the point of mining? I can see the point if you can afford to buy 100 units on the first day they come out...but I don't think that's anyone here on this forum.

Any optimism or hope or reason you can send my way?  Undecided

for TP-Link smart-switches HS100 and HS110 i can recommend the homeautomation-system pimatic. it can make any rule you want, for example if power consumption is less than 300W it should switch off/on etc.

they seem to draw full load when they crash for me. I havent check specifically but the bar on my UPS load meter doesnt change.

Will the hs100 report power draw? Didnt think it did. Im going to have to try that.

Best to use a pool that alerts when a rig stops sending shares. Then reboot through a smart plug. Mine haven't froze since I upgraded to new firmware, but in the past I was remotely rebooting through smart plugs.

We're more discussing solutions that don't involve human interaction. Pool alerts will be my backup now. As my PC is constantly checking on my miners and will automatically power cycle withing 5 minutes. I havent frozen with the new firmware either but someone mentioned they did, so its likely only a matter of time.

Awesome miner has some really robust monitoring and response functions, but its untested with A9's and I felt like writing something tailored for me.

On a slightly related (uptime) note. I'm using a Asus RT-AC56U Router that does Dual WAN with and Android phone as failover. It was the cheapest setup to have backup internet. My ISP has occasional Maintenance and outages. Its seems like a fairly rare function on low end equipment. Even DDWRT doesnt do it easily.

I have not had problems since the firmware update either.

How is your script working currently?

I use these smart plugs to remotely reboot rigs, these plugs are rated for 16A 240V. Newest firmware seems to reboot rigs automatically when free memory level goes to 0 kb.

Interesting.

Do I understand you correctly that with the latest firmware, the miner automatically reboots if it goes to zero hash rate?

Correct.

Thank you. I updated the firmware tonight.

Ugg, The internet really is cesspool. Someone logged into my A9 this morning and changed my pools. It was my fault for leaving it port forwarded to the internet with default passwords. But it begs the question. Is this person port scanning the entire net? Or did he pull my IP from this site?

BWAHAHAHA... That's actually brilliant.  And teaches you not to be so careless and lazy.

I want to reach through the internet and high five that guy!  Cheesy

So, your a lowlife groupy? It was a social experiment. I was betting on not getting hacked and I was wrong. I also didn't think I'd get such a juvenile response. I have a bad habit of forgetting how many bad apples are out there. I wasn't so careless and lazy that I didn't have notifications setup to tell me my miner stopped hashing to the correct pool. They got maybe $2, mostly because I was curious and poked around a bit before fixing it. I dont feel like I got ripped off for $2. I feel like I paid $2 to do an experiment. You mind laughing and berating people cluelessly elsewhere?

Hi I figured out how to PM you.

I wrote asking if I can please pay you to help me resolve this issue. Thanks!

To get around not being able to write a file, you have to remount the filesystem as read/write: "mount / -o rw,remount"

Thanks!, I did need "mount / -o rw,remount"
I thought I would never have to do this again but I did. Worked like a charm. And besides some annoying syntax issues, so did everything else. So here it is.

More polished solution for Miners checking up on each other and automatically power-cycling TP-Link Smart/Wifi Plugs, if one finds the other not hashing.
New Things:
Fully Miner Managed Service on a 10min Timer to execute
Outputs all steps Directly To miner GUI Log (Main System Log)
*Edited post with Logging to TeamCheck.log

Instructions - Quick and dry instructions. Hope I didn't miss anything.

Get Putty>Enter IP address of Miner
Left Window>SSH>X11>Check Enable X11 Forwarding
Name "Saved Sessions" and Click Save
Click Open, type login:admin, type password:blacksheepwall

cd /etc/systemd/system/      #standard place for timer/service files
mount / -o rw,remount        #Thanks Sweeper!!

Create the 3 files:
     vi TeamCheck.service
          i for insert mode
Shift-Insert to paste code from below
:wq to save (q! is quit without save)
     vi TeamCheck.timer
          "  same
     vi TeamCheck.sh
          "  same

chmod -x TeamCheck.sh    #This may not be necessary

systemctl enable TeamCheck.timer   #Enables/Recognizes the timer
systemctl start TeamCheck.timer     #Starts the timer

Setup elements:
TeamCheck.timer:  OnCalendar=*:0/10 #is how oftern the script runs and target miner is contacted. This is 10min. *:0/5 would be 5min
TeamCheck.sh:
MinerIP=192.168.1.126  #Target Miner to Check on
RetryCount=8  #How many times to Retry contacting target miner. RetryCount*RetrySleep=time before ac plug powercycle
RetrySleep=30 #how many seconds to wait between attempts to contact miner.
loopcount=1 #static variable for loop. Leave as 1
Shutdown=40 #Time to wait in seconds after target Miner Power Down is sent before sending Power Up signal

My On Off Signals are in TeamCheck.sh
These are for TP Link Plugs. A Solution to send a reboot command to your Plugs WILL NEED TO NEED to be figured out.
TP-Link Plugs are about 15-$20 each. So not a bad investment to eliminate almost any issue that a power cycle will resolve.
That being said. If someone has an issue where their non hashing miner will take an SSH command. Than a reboot/service restart would be easy todo.

On:    curl --request POST "https://use1-wap.tplinkcloud.com/?token=YOUR_TOKEN  HTTP/1.1" --data '{"method":"passthrough", "params": {"deviceId": YOUR_DEVICE_ID, "requestData": "{\"system\":{\"set_relay_state\":{\"state\":0}}}" }}' --header "Content-Type: application/json"

Off:    curl --request POST "https://use1-wap.tplinkcloud.com/?token=YOUR_TOKEN  HTTP/1.1" --data '{"method":"passthrough", "params": {"deviceId": YOUR_DEVICE_ID, "requestData": "{\"system\":{\"set_relay_state\":{\"state\":0}}}" }}' --header "Content-Type: application/json"

FOR TP-LINK WIFI/SMART Plugs setup with the Kasa App
You need you Device id for YOUR_DEVICE_ID and Security Token for YOUR_TOKEN. They were pretty easy to get with online guides.
http://itnerd.space/2017/01/22/how-to-control-your-tp-link-hs100-smartplug-from-internet/

Some other NOT IMPORTANT but interesting things I learned making this.
echo "Hello" | systemd-cat   #Adding this at the end of an echo line will print to the Web GUI Log
systemctl list-timers -all       #Shows all timers. When they will execute again.
systemctl start/stop/restart cgminer    #For those that dont know
May have been able todo without the TeamCheck.timer file by using a service restart command in the service file but it was poorly documented and I went with textbook.
Still todo is add a Log of AC Powercycles that wont disappear. Got to look up how to log with chance of file overgrowth. Should never happen in this scenario but im being particular and trying to force better habits to learn
Checking on a second Miner would be most easily accomplished at this point by copying TeamCheck.sh to ex TeamCheck2.sh. Changing IP and adding to TeamCheck.service ExecStart line

Last, If anyone finds this concept/code more than interesting and actually uses it at any kind of scale. Feel Free to Donate. Feel Free not to tho Smiley

Hi. Is this a solution for miners going offline?

As I mentioned, it happens to me at least a few times per week. At most, once per day.

Hi I cannot PM you as you do not allow PMs from newbies.

Information below:

The Wifi plugs I have are: ibroadlink IFTTT plugs

Please let me know what else you need.

I would love to have a solution for when I am asleep and cannot manually check every two hours to make sure my miners have not gone offline.

How often was this happening to you?

Thank you

Mine seem to do it once a week on avg. But very randomly.

For you Smart plugs. Are they Model sp2 or sp3? Do you have any kind of control unit? I did some quick searches and It seems possible to setup. But it's not well documented and I'm getting the impression the plugs are local wifi only and you need to run a server or talk to a broadlink controller unit, or possible use an android device as a server. It's seems doable but I'm not finding any flushed out instructions. I'll look some more later.

Thanks. Mine definitely do it more than once per week. Though this week has been really good. Fingers crossed. Pray to crypto gods...

I will get you any information you need. It's kind of you to help me.

Hey thanks for this.

Do I understand you correctly that you wrote this script because your miners kept going offline?

I have had the same problem before and am currently fighting it with wifi plugs. But those are obviously not an automated solution if I am asleep for example or not checking.

What kind of Wifi plugs do you have? This script is to automatically cycle My TPLink Wifi Plugs when the miners go offliner. I could tweak it for you if your plugs are easy to work with like tplink.

Some info.. the script is basically:
-Talk to cgminer
-If it answers back - done for now
if it answers with any kind of Error or fails. wait, try again, wait try again...*configurable
Retry the Configurable amount of times
Power off plug to miner
wait 40 seconds *configureble
Power on plug to miner
Done
Check miner again in 10 minutes.

Probably will end up tightening these timings. Currently have it taking 5 minutes to decide to powercycle miner, when 30 seconds is probably enough.

I'm pretty sure talking to cgminer will be a good frozen checker but I'll adjust if need be. I know SSH stops working when my miners hang, so that will work if this doesn't.

I got sick of the Miner crashing so I hodge-podged together a solution. Its a script that calls cgminer-api from one miner to the other, checking each other if they can receive data from cgminer and call a shutdown, pause and powerup to the TP-Link smart plugs (Pretty cheap! https://www.amazon.com/Kasa-Smart-Wi-Fi-TP-Link-2-Pack/dp/B01KBFWW0O) if no signal is received after multiple attempts.

I noticed when my A9's crash I loose the web interface. Still shows the pages but no data. I think my browser was just caching but I forget to verify that. I tried to view the log and login to SSH. Both didnt work. So in the off chance this call cgminer-api check method doesnt pan out, I'll just do something with SSH failing as a test point, or get actually hashrate from the API.

I could use some help if there are any linux pros here. Anyone know how to schedule a script to periodically run? There is no cron. Maybe i could install it? The A9 Linux seems to be setup to use Systemctl and Systemd as taskmanager/process controller. I tried to create a File.timer file but it wouldnt let me write the file to /etc/systemd/system/and Its too late to be wrapping my head around linux permission issues. I think it would be cool to have these checking up on each other and reasonable immediately power cycling. I could also rust run a script from windows if I could get Curl to take the syntax like the linux version does. Right now Im calling the scripts from Putty plink with a Windows Task scheduled every 10min. Ugly but it works.

On a related note, does anyone know how to set vm.min_free_kbytes permanently? I can just set it with my script but I am interested to know how to properly tweak it to survive a reboot. Its just a guess on what may help these A9's from crashing. I also put back -lowmem in cgminer.conf to see if that helps.

So far everything was fine on nicehash. Now I get a lot of drops of hashrate. So far it was really stable though. Can anyone confirm these drops / dips of hashrate?

Regards

On the same boat my friend. 2 days with a very bumpy ride. Every hours disconnect back to 0 and then again to 40ksol. I think they were under DOS attack. I switched pool and mined directly coins.
Btw what does your nickname mean?
It seems to be fine now. I also think it was the DDOS.

Hi will you please share the exact process of what you did to connect the miner to NiceHash?
Just put in the Nicehash stratum and your Nicehash wallet. No magic needed for this one...

Thanks but what are the exact stratum settings you used?

Because stratum+tcp://equihash.eu.nicehash.com:3357 does not work for me.

I am interested in what coins most miners here are mining.

I am mostly doing only ZEC.

BTC - nicehash, with all disconnects blah, blah, blah final payment is more... We more lucky A9 is working on Nicehash.... Z9 not working at all

Final payment what are you averaging per day per A9 miner in BTC?

I am currently averaging 0.0101112 BTC per day per A9 miner in NanoPool

~0.0837246 - 0.103444 depends on day.

Thanks.

If you'd like to share, how many A9s do you have?

I have 5. 3 always have over 50K hash rate. 2 are always a little under.

Hey Everyone,
Stupid question, but I haven't purchased from INNO since Dec. of 2013!

Yesterday I pulled the trigger on the A9 deal.
Can you tell me how quickly you received a response from shipping after confirming wire transfer?

Rough maths show some pretty good returns, especially if the free Sept. batch ships.
I'm game.

Wire confirmed on my end Monday. Nothing from Inno.
I must have picked a terrible time to order.

Should I expect a confirmation email or shipment notification prior to arrival?
Just trying to manage expectations.

Seems kind of long but they did just release the T2 Turbo this week, probably caused a lot of traffic for them. I would contact with your order details. Sort of like my last antminer purchase the unit showed up and my order still read unpaid, still might actually.  . ..

I sent the wire to them monday, they confirmed receipt thursday, sent me shipping info friday. In the email they said 'we've shipped your miners' (plural). I thought it was one now and one in sept, I'm assuming it was just a grammatical error caused by a translator, but has anyone received their BOGO 2nd miner with the first delivery? The DHL track says 2 boxes, but I'm thinking one is the PSU...

It's the PSU.
