I suppose crime statistics and welfare burden statistics are racist too? Amazing how any fact you don't like is racist.

thanks gotmilk, wasn't sure if that would open up a new margin short which I didn't want to do, just close my long. appreciate it!

I've got a bitfinex trading question maybe someone could help me out with.

Say I've got a margin long open from 430, and I went to sell it at 465. Right now it seems like all I can do is 'close' which sets up a market sell at whatever point I hit close at. Instead I'd like to set it up to sell whenever someone buys into it at 465. Can I do this somehow?

Mini wall at $450. May be a good opportunity to buy back with no slippage for a bigger player...

YOU seem to be getting distracted by style over substance... .MAYBE, it is just something that you feel comfortable?    I would agree with any assertion that style can help to bring emphasis to the substance.. and accordingly, most of my style is on purpose in order to emphasize certain points.   However, sometimes, postings may be typed quickly, and the style may be somewhat unintended.

Christopher Walken, it's great to have you on board with Bitcoin.

I'm Sodling, all the bad news means we're going to zero. Gox is terrible!

Look at this chart I'm sure none of you have seen!

Before Proudhon left he called this exactly. He's probably the most genuine poster on this board.

You're right Fonzie.

13  Economy / Service Discussion / Greg Maxwell (BTC developer) responds to GOX on: February 10, 2014, 01:37:57 PM
I hadn't seen this posted anywhere.

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/2014/02/10/mt-gox-blames-bitcoin-core-developer-greg-maxwell-responds/

<gmaxwell> The Gox press release seems a little ‘spun’ to me. They portray characteristics of the Bitcoin system well known since at least 2011 (which even have their own wiki page ) as something new.
These characteristics are annoying but don’t inhibit basic operation. They are slowly being fixed – but fixing them completely will likely take years as they require changing all wallet software. Correctly-written wallet software can cope with the consequences, and I cannot understand why they would gate their withdraws on external changes.

<GG> Andreas Antonopoulus has examined Gox’s code to some degree, and remarked that they are using a strange “hodgepodge of technologies that are really not suitable for running an exchange.” Do you believe the problem lies in their code rather than the Bitcoin protocol?

<gmaxwell> Oh there is a “problem” in the Bitcoin protocol, known since at least 2011 (see the link I gave). But for normal applications, not involving unconfirmed transactions, it shouldn’t cause any severe problems because wallets can handle it locally.
Basically, third parties can change the transaction IDs of transactions. This means what wallet software must be written to accomodate that and still recognize them when that happens.
What the press release talks about is adding a second kind of transaction ID, which is robust against changes, which would be helpful for tech support purposes. Though it doesn’t resolve all of the issues that being able to modify transactions presents.

<GG> So in other words, Gox should be able to account for this known problem by modifying their internal systems?

<gmaxwell> Yes, internal only changes should account for it. The only remaining issue for Mt. Gox’s application would be some tech support problems, where if a user’s transaction is mutated by a malicious party the txid ["transaction ID"] Mt. Gox told them to expect wouldn’t be the one that ultimately showed up in the blockchain.

Hodling for life son.

Your piddly drops worry me not.  Anyone selling into this needs their head examined.

You must not be one of those leet tarders like fonzie and BANALtcoin:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who reads his name that way.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: what yall think about this sudden below 780 (it has been stable for a few weeks) on: February 06, 2014, 09:20:04 PM
Unless it's truly an anonymouscoin, who the fuck cares.

Big banks would trust a Googlecoin over Bitcoin.. Not saying it is going to happen, but just keep on eye out for it (meant for the noob OP).

or iCoin

I see today as great. Gox finally closed the price gap which it desperately needed to, and the other exchanges didn't lose much in the process.

So glad we're stable again!
