1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: December 27, 2013, 10:21:50 AM
Very happy with cudaminer at the moment.
with the latest release and playing about with settings I have got my EVGA A/C Superclock 780 to run at 550Khash/s

This is my config cudaminer.exe -i 0 -H 1 -m 1 -l T12x16

my overclock settings  too http://imgur.com/WoxJGJU

Gotta give a shoutout for my case too silverstone raven rv02
It is an amazing case and really impressed with the airflow and cooling.

Would the cuda 6.0 tools have any benefit to us when thats release? are you planning to update cudaminer with 6.0 tools?
2  Economy / Goods / Selling Used 5850 UK only 89.99 on: July 17, 2011, 06:33:33 PM
Hi Guys,

Selling my HD 5850 as my old computers CPU died and I cant afford to replace it.

Had the gfx card running for about a month at 330mh/s and generated about 200k shares on deepbit in that time.

its ebay listed for 3 days http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230648594442 and is about £30 cheaper than if you purchased it new.

Cheers

3  Economy / Economics / Re: Namecoin prices plummeting - opinions? on: June 25, 2011, 12:37:24 PM
I am pretty up to speed with geeky computer stuff. I do it for a job and i spend most of my free time on my computer at home.
However I dont understand namecoin either. I dont see a need for it. Why would anyone want a web address that cannot be controlled by a proper domain regulator? probably for illegal purposes.
4  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone using Nvidia cards to mine? on: June 22, 2011, 07:59:54 PM
My main PC is a GTX 470 but I dont generally use it for mining.
I setup my old PC with a cheap ATI 5850 and that gets 330mhash/s, this is on 24/7 in my attic just mining.

I only mine with my GTX470 when I am watching a movie on tv show on my main PC, or maybe listening to music while doing other things. I can get another 100mhash/s out of the 470 so I think it is worth running it as I have my PC on already. I wouldn't run it on its own purely for mining as it uses too much power.

I think ATI cards will still be profitable, but only marginally, when it gets harder and harder to generate coins, the price will go up and it will just keep going up to pay for the "commercial" miners costs.
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35GH] MineCo.in - 0% TAX Mining pool on: June 20, 2011, 04:52:05 PM
woo fast 3rd block, loving this pool Cheesy
6  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Do Pools Generally Keep The "Generated Fees" Associated With Each Block? on: June 20, 2011, 11:34:25 AM
On Wuked's pool I got the whole 8 decimals paid when we found the first block.
same thing happened to the 2nd one (assuming it confirms ok)
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35GH/sec] MineCo.in - LP,EU Server,SSL,JSON API,0% TAX on: June 20, 2011, 09:56:00 AM
nice.
got over half a coin estimated for the 2nd block Cheesy a lot more than i get from deepbit for my 330mhash/s

Any idea when the submitted shares value would be fixed for induvidual accounts?
8  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5BTC BONUS!] MineCo.in - LP,EU Server,SSL,JSON API,0% TAX on: June 19, 2011, 08:09:51 AM
looks like you found a block. gj

I got only 2 stale shares out of 1300 total
9  Economy / Economics / Re: All mining might be illegal/parasitic soon on: June 19, 2011, 07:49:51 AM
I manage about £100,000 worth of IT equipment at work and did consider mining from there, unfortunately its pretty terrible for mining as it will all be CPU mining. I tried it a little as I was curious and I got about 10mhash/s on one of the systems.
Considering I have 4 of these in total I would get 40mhash for 100k worth of kit, it is sooo not worth risking it.
Now if I knew about this last year then I may have added the price of several ATI cards, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I am sure there would potentially be malware out there that would mine secretly on peoples machines if they got infected. It would be hugely noticeable though unless the malware limited to CPU mining and only to 1 core, then I guess you could keep it hidden.
10  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 18, 2011, 02:40:12 PM
Guess I will show mine currently running at 350mhash/s

Its my old PC that i replaced about 8 months ago and brought it back to life when I purchased a 5850. I am so glad I keep all my old computers and components :p

It is now sitting in the attic out of sight and I cant hear it thankfully even on 100% fan speed.
I have a nice wireless dongle with it too so don't need any keyboards/monitors or mice to control it Cheesy

to get the restriction lifted just browse all the other forums and do your research. I have learned alot by just browsing. and you can easily get your posts up to 5 just by adding your 2c to some of the posts in here.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP not receive payment from deepbit on: June 18, 2011, 01:31:04 PM
deepbit does sometimes take a very long time to show up in your wallet.
If you want to see your payment instantly then make sure you have your bitcoin client open all the time.
It has taken a good 4 or 5 hours before when I received my coins from deepbit, but I have been using it for a week now and have not had any missing coins.
Just keep your client open for a few hours. I am sure it will show up.

indeed source code MUST be published before you can even expect anyone to test out your program.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many newbies are mining? on: June 16, 2011, 04:34:47 PM
Ive been mining for about a week now properly.
Its kinda interesting to me and it is a safe way for me to learn a bit about market trading ect as I have always been interested in trading on the real world markets.
who knows, one day maybe I will be a stock broker Cheesy

for the record my work has a proxy and my miner works fine without having to configure anything extra.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btc mining w/ Nvidia on: June 14, 2011, 09:02:13 PM
RAM isnt a major issue from what I can see.

my mining rig, which is my old PC from 2008 just has windows XP on it and 2 gig RAM, although when I look at the RAM usage, it is using just 350mb during full mining usage.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btc mining w/ Nvidia on: June 14, 2011, 08:35:51 PM
mining with a nvidia card is pretty crap yea.

My gaming PC has a GTX 470 and although it is fantastic in all the game I play, for mining it just isnt good for the amount of power it draws.
I would advise you to get a Radeon 5850. Right now they are extreemly cheap I got mine for £94 and with a little clocking I get 330 mhash/s where as with my £200(at the time) GTX 470 i get about 100 if i overclock it.
It is really not worth mining on your current setup. You wont see good results and the income you do get will be pretty small.

At the moment you will get 1 BTC every 20 days from a pool. And at current rates thats only $20 dollars
If you were to get a 5850 for $120 dollars, run it for 20 days, you would get 10 BTC (0.5 a day @ 315mhash/s) and at todays rates that would be $200, so as well as paying for the gfx card, you would have made $80 ontop.
Ofcourse who knows what the market will be like in 20 days, it could jump up to $30 or drop down to $10, even if it was down to $10 then you would still be able to get your money back in a month, and still have a better gfx card at the end of it.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too late to start mining? on: June 13, 2011, 07:08:38 PM
Most PC enthusiasts replace their PC once every 3 years i guess. Atleast I do anyway. I discovered bitcoins about a month ago and looked into it.
Turns out my gaming rig is not all that good, its an nvidia GTX 470 and pretty power hungry. I get about 90mhash/s out of it and can get 110 if I overclock it.
But then I wouldnt be able to play games on it, so I did a bit of research and also some digging in my attic. I found my old PC and dusted it off.
It is only an AMD X2 6400 with a single slot PCI-E mobo, but realised that if I buy an AMD/ATI 5850 then I would at current rates only need to mine 6 bitcoins to get my money back, considering that the old PC was just going to sit in the attic forever.

I have got a nice wireless dongle for it and will stick it back in the attic soon. But overclocked(memory underclocked) it runs at 55 C and pumps out 350mhash/s

I should get my money back in a week or so in terms of bitcoin value.

Although the guys that discovered it last year are very luck and probably have 1000's of dollars worth of bitcoins, I still think there is money to make in mining, even if its just a bit of extra spending money to give you a few hundred dollars. For me that would come in very handy for doing basically nothing.
