My address is in the Oct 4, 2016 snapshot.

Will they still be valid?
Do I need to do anything?

I asked in Slack and this November snapshot is only for those that performed the "transition period" steps, it is ok not to be included in this snapshot.
No reason to panic, just wait for the new GUI wallet.

World class and bleeding edge in Blockchain technology design. Most promising indeed!

Most blockchains still have a single-tiered network where the wallet and server are one in the same at the core level. The original NEM architecture was one of the first to efficiently design and utilize a two-tiered network, and now Catapult is the first ever announced network using three.

As Jaguar, the lead dev working on Catapult told me, older blockchains scale linearly, one server serves only a certain amount of clients.  The new Catapult system scales exponentially as one server can feed into many API servers and the those in turn feed into many clients.

This is what the blockchain should have been in the first place. Satoshi was a visionary legalist, philosopher, and economist, not so much a great network designer or coder and Bitcoin and other 1.0 chains have been dealing with problems ever since.

Expect Catapult to have the most advanced and easiest to use APIs of any blockchain. This will make us an attractive option for 3rd parties to build on.

Scales exponentially! It sounds like the devs are building a brain.

Neuron network activity scales exponentially with synapse density.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19104141

"These results suggest that the brain's information processing capability gains more from increasing connectivity of the processing units than
increasing processing units, much as Internet information flow increases much faster than the linear number of nodes and connections."

Maybe one day the NEM ecosystem will become self-aware.

NEM is leading the way in blockchain technology, while others are still trying to figure it out.

Microsoft also has a project called Catapult.

The silver coin project is a great marketing tool for NEM, it will demonstrate our Mosaics with a real world use case.

Bullion tied to a cryptocurrency has a wide appeal, from those in the crypto community to the many silver bugs that stack as a hedge against inflation.
Also the low mintage may interest the numismatic collectors in our space. Trading the mosaic will also help increase the circulation of XEM.
To keep this trustable when redeeming for the physical silver, an escrow (Anon136 or equiv) could be used.

As makoto said:
"In essence, this is creating a silver-backed, fully fungible digital currency. This is similar to the old US silver
certificates, where the holder could redeem them for a silver coin. So here we have an opportunity to launch a
bullion-back currency that is parallel to NEM and lives on the NEM asset exchange! A world first!"  https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-silver-coin-for-all-stakeholders/922

I like them all. Catapult, Cryptoapex, Nano wallet, AltNemo, Mijin, Dragonfly, Mobile apps, etc... all will be important pieces in the future ecosystem.

The foundation is very important. We are very close to having it funded.
Maybe some of the escrow/non-escrow buyers have not had the oppportunity to donate yet.
Let's have more time so people can get their clients up running and donate.
The exchanges can wait.
