1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: memory doesn't stay underclocked when under load on: July 22, 2011, 01:18:16 PM
Dont give up before trying ati tray tools. That worked for me and now I can set gpu/mem clocks to anything. For some reason voltage settings doesnt work for me even with ati tray tools, but 6970's bios default(1.175v) is enought. Running my asus 6950 @ full shaders and 900/150 MHz.
2  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830 x 4 Mining Rig, When to call it quits? on: June 29, 2011, 06:19:14 PM
This just tells you. Do not keep your mining rig in a room with ac. Electricity bill will make you cry. During winter(depends where you live), if you only have electrical heating, you might be able to heat your house with mining rigs and thus get the power for free".
3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone else get busted by the cops for "suspicious" energy consumption! on: June 29, 2011, 06:11:18 PM
The DEA has no jurisdiction inside Canada, which Vancouver is a part of.

Sigh...http://thetyee.ca/News/2004/10/27/WhyUSDrugCopVan/

That's the first result on google bty. An I while I said DEA I'm not sure who the equivalent in Canada is as I'm in Portland WA
Look If I have to spend this thread trying to prove I'm not BS'ing you guys then I'm sorry I bothered to give you some sort of warning that this could happen.

I'm sorry I even bothered as this now seems more like a witch hunt than people thinking this could ever happen to them as well.

If you want to consider this as a possibility and talk about it then do otherwise don't bother as I'm finished defending myself.

So your story is bs, so what? Nice story man...

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: MSI Afterburner just allow memories down to 500, but it freezes at 500.. on: June 20, 2011, 06:29:47 PM
ok so I've edited the CFG and still 600 is the max I can hit no matter the number of times I have tried going up/down, open/close.

Does this require a reboot to enforce the below?

[ATIADLHAL]
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   =
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 1
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod   = 0

Try this:

[ATIADLHAL]
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 1
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod   = 0

Or try ati tray tools, seems to work better for me. But with ATT I need to set default clocks every time before changing gpu/core clocks.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: HD 5770 AT 100 DEGREES on: June 19, 2011, 10:04:35 PM
If your room is at 90 degree(i guess fahrenheits) and your gpu is at 80 degree(with same scale) then your temp sensor is broken.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Installed a 6950, No Onboard Sound on: June 19, 2011, 09:54:02 PM
Being me i would revert back to the last working condition or reinstall windows. Fast and simple solution compared to hours and days and weeks of troubleshooting.

Whats common with shuttle columbia and bitcoin?
Well, the shuttle took off like a rocket you had never seen, stayed there for a while and came down in burning pieces. Just like bitcoins.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 10 empty PCI-E x16 Slots, very limited budget, What to Buy? on: June 18, 2011, 01:30:04 PM
I'm with the above post. If the psu:s are decent you could buy used 5770/5830 cards and they should run fine. I would not invest anything for mining, but if you already have the rig(for gaming) then why not.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please explain the love for the 5830s and 5850s on: June 17, 2011, 09:41:10 AM
The 5830 can be found at about 50 usd here in france ...at the moment good bargain ...

You should buy loads of those and sell for all miners. I bet that reselling would give a lot more profit than mining Smiley
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many newbies are mining? on: June 16, 2011, 08:11:02 PM
I'm mining second week now. Didin't go crazy and buy highend mining rig for this, just using the spare clock cycles of my gaming pc. It gets ~400 Mhash/s with oc'd 6950@6970 radeon. The market is too risky for me to invest a dime for except electricity, but I made about 100 usd at first week while mining BTC. Now the system is pointed towards namecoins, those seems to give better returns with current trading rates.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Namecoin and bitcoin mining question on: June 14, 2011, 01:43:54 PM
1) so it wont work with hardware on? Even opening video settings from amd vision center crashed this comp.

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Namecoin and bitcoin mining question on: June 14, 2011, 01:11:41 PM
Since there is this newbie restriction please help me here.

First about bitcoin miners. I'm using a guiminer and everytime i try to load video or some webpage loads a video while the miner is on it crashes. No matter what i set fror the -f or -w value for. Any workarounds for this? I would like to us the power of my oc'd 6950 while watching movies etc.

And then about namecoin. For some reason i did not find a usable guide how to set it up on windows/or requirements for it. I installed it and when i try "namecoind.exe getnewaddress" i get:
C:\Users\... ...\namecoin_win32>namecoind.exe getnewaddress
error: couldn't connect to server

I am behind NAT and some firewall that i have no access to. Any way to get it working?
