I have never posted or being on this thread until today and I only came because you had reasonable questions on the DASH thread and I was trying to be informative and clarify what I knew. I don't know what you are talking about but the poster you mention is just a member of the community.
I went through this thread and there was almost no activity here since last year, there is no need to come up with conspiracy theories as we would like for things to be friendly.
I understand that you are doing your utmost to avoid conflict and confrontation both here and in the Darkcoin thread, as evidenced by the following post. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg10767687#msg10767687 and this is of course very commendable and appreciated. Unfortunately I wish I could say the same thing for other members of the Darkcoin community. If anything, you may see a serious pump because of this rebrand, and be able to exit at a higher value. I know it sounds a bit hostile, but the entire Dashcoin marketcap is only 2 or 3 Masternodes. It will be the best thing that happened to you !! the coin is dead! from https://darkcointalk.org/threads/official-statement-on-rebranding-to-dash.4297/page-3. This gets further complicated by the legal situation. The Darkcoin Foundation is contemplating filing a Notice of Opposition to an application for a Trademark on "Dash" by a third party http://tsdr.uspto.gov/caseviewer/pdf?caseId=86377359&docIndex=1#docIndex=1. One way to do this is to show prior use. So if the Darkcoin Foundation can acquire the rights to "Dashcoin" and since the use of Dashcoin in commerce precedes that application date of the of the mark being opposed http://tsdr.uspto.gov/documentviewer?caseId=sn86377359&docId=APP20140829072944#docIndex=9&page=1 The Darkcoin Foundation has a good chance to oppose the third party application and claim the name "Dash" for its self. This of course hinges on one thing obtaining the rights to the name Dashcoin, It is here where the situation gets really messy and a very dangerous precedent is being set. The issue comes down to the ownership of the name "Dashcoin" Does the developer actually own the name or is he merely acting as a trustee on behalf of the broader community. In the latter case he has no right to sell the name to a third party. The issue here is the same regardless of whether the market capitalization of the coin is 6000 USD or 4,000,000,000 USD. It is a critical principle that affects every decentralized crypto currency. Developers do not control or "own" the coin. Of course if Dashcoin as a coin dies as a result the issue becomes moot, which of course is the simple solution for the Darkcoin Foundation. But what if the Dashcoin community takes over control of the coin as is apparently becoming the case away from the developer and continues using what is rightfully theirs, namely the name Dashcoin? There is already a precedent where this kind of community takeover of a coin from a developer has occurred namely with Monero. Then the result becomes that the Dashcoin developer simply scammed the Darkcoin Foundation by selling them something he had no rights to. This of course undermines the entire legal plan to trademark "Dash". Interesting.

It is a clone but with some features. As i know creator of this coin is 2 independent dev with no any connections to bytecoin.
From the OP: Dashcoin (DSH) is a cryptocurrency started on July 5, 2014. Dashcoin is a fork of Bytecoin and uses the unique algorithm CryptoNite. Our goal with Dashcoin is to create a perfect mirror image of Bytecoin, the first CryptoNote based cryptocurrency, at any given moment of time. Automatically.
And has changed direction since the first post, no rules here saying this coin couldn't split away from bytecoin...

We do need to set a real deadline. it's almost been a year. I'm still patiently waiting tho. I thought it would be out late November and still no. Not hating just expressing my opinion. Keep up the good work tho. Im sure it won't be long. I hope
You see we didn't want to give a deadline in the first place because we new that things may come up especially since the alpha hasn't been tested by many people (which is something the community should consider their fault imho). Since so many people were demanding one we gave them a deadline knowing very well that we may not be able to hold it which is exactly what happend. Hey Pat, I have nothing but respect to you and the team. But has it occur to you guys that maybe some people just got tired of waiting and just decided to just wait till this is all done. I know we only have one shot at this but It's never goin to be perfect. We can only do better as we go. something will always come up, if thats the reason for delaying every time then this will never be released. We can't prevent something from coming up. No such thing as error proof. But we iron things out as we go. But hey what do I know. I'm NEM supporter from the start and will always be. So Do what is necessary. Maybe releasing it will get more people testing it. It is a double edged sword. Do what you must. A real deadline must be put to the table. Cheer guys. No hate from me, all but love. I thank you for the work the team has done. I agree. I'm a supporter from the beginning (and still support), but please release the coin then work on adding more features.

What is the fix / improvement? 2014-11-06 16:38:11 (4 hours ago) 00b925a92587a7f30b00c6021a4d6de3fdaa258946d79677ffb0dd0d1930e175 965,444.80742286 30.00000000 1 19108 bytes 2014-11-06 16:38:11 (4 hours ago) 75ecd29619d6cbc08e5c2f595ea94b597fb522755a11e6a18d456fdc112d48cc 12,029,453.89000000 0.01000000 2 18644 bytes 2014-11-06 16:38:11 (4 hours ago) cb7874b18e41073e69dce72f8f239446f5460f43297734da6957060d0682377f 636,207.96000000 15.00000000 4 14061 bytes 2014-11-06 16:38:11 (4 hours ago) c7c87e7b1f7239fbfa917053a359ecb6673542d9bb032f770b11a2d320c5d648 305,583.09000000 10.00000000 4 16262 bytes Those big sized transactions will be included in the blockchain much easier. The update will take effect in 4 days, which is plenty of time for all pools to update. We need 90% consensus (mined blocks) on the update and this is the reason to be mandatory. Looking forward to the gui update

merely a clone of BCN without new feathers added = DEAD COIN!
It has all the innovative feathers of BCN as they come, plus an official GUI, without the premine. If you don't want to use most to all of your RAM just to send/receive transactions, and don't like massive premines, this is the best CryptoNote. It's not merely a clone, and it certainly isn't dead. Trading needs to move to btc on polo!

The next version of the GUI wallet is hereYou can grab it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/dashcoinwalletgui/files/dashcoinwalletgui-1.1.0-windows.zip/downloadIt is still Windows only right now. Changes made: - Supports multiple wallets
- Cleaned up and optimized some of the code
- Shows progress while syncing blockchain
- More form validation
- A cancel button has been added to the send page
- Blank passwords are now supported
- Enter key opens wallet as well as button
To import an old wallet, copy the wallet's .bin.keys, .bin.address.txt, and optionally it's .bin file to the wallets folder in the GUI wallet. It no longer needs to be called wallet.bin. Any wallet name will work. Thanks for the update! Excellent work

dash is alive of course, what i like about it in the beginning was it tried to be as cheap as possible traded at a otc thread and a sub satoshi exchange.
mined with nvdia and amd gpu, cpu, windows and linux....released when miners are optimized..no question about fairness.
right now it is still very cheap, at less than 2 btc you can have a billion dsh.
in time maybe dash will be independent from bytecoin development..might change to POS after all coins are mined like XDN..who knows, i'm keeping a few millions long term.
edit: and there are active devs
I bought several mil at subtoshi, and yes it is still very cheap!

I think i messed up when trying to send coins to myself...
transfer 0 address 100000 Money successfully sent, transaction <txnumber>
They didnt show up in my wallet afterwords...any ideas?
See FAQ: http://dashcoin.net/faq/"My transaction says sent, but it never showed up." okay...moving my miners off mg.
but can you tell me how sending large amounts from mg seems to work almost all the time and i struggle with amounts 10x smaller from simplewallet given they reduced this parameter? i've was able to send 3 separate 24M DSH txns from there that arrived within a very short period of time when my 2M DSH txns from my simple wallet would take hours if not a day to get there
Long story short: * Your daemon is programmed to sends transactions up to 20,000 bytes * Minergate is programmed to accept and send transactions up to 10,000 bytes * Minergate controls big chunk of the network Result: Transactions in range 10,000 - 20,000 have hard time to pass If an attacker flood the network with transactions just over 10,000 bytes (like 10,536 bytes or 11,057 bytes), it makes practically impossible for real transactions over 10,000 bytes to pass. The transaction size depends on the number of inputs, outpouts (payees), and mixin. You can easily have a transactions for amount 10,000DSH with size 12,000 bytes and in the same time you can easily have a transaction for amount 5,000,000DSH with size 3,000bytes. Thanks!

I released Subtoshi about a month and a half ago, so Dashcoin could be traded. Dashcoin has since been listed on Poloniex, and the trade volume on Subtoshi has dropped. As of now, Subtoshi is costing me more to run than it is bringing in. I am glad that Subtoshi was able to get Dashcoin trading going, but now that trading has died down, and for the reasons I stated before, I have decided to close down Subtoshi. Thank you to everyone who used Subtoshi. I hope it provided useful.
The plan for Subtoshi's closing is as follows Deposits will be disabled on October 26th, a week from today. Trading will be disabled on October 31st. After that, the exchange will remain open for withdrawals until December 31st.
I will have a more official announcement later on the website, and will be sending out an email regarding the closing of Subtoshi to everyone who has registered.
Very sad to hear this. I love the idea of subtoshi, the website was clean and error free. Pwstegman thanks for subtoshi AND pumping out a GUI wallet for this coin very quickly! I wish you luck on your future projects, especially if you are continuing to work on dsh. I hope subtoshi can come back in the future if it could be profitable!

There have been a few road bumps to slow me down, but most of the debugging is done now. I expect to be done soon, but there is still a chance that some issue will pop up and prevent me from releasing it when I plan.
Thats fine just keep us up to date with your progress. Let me know if you want help with testing.
Yes i was not rushing, just asking! No rush!

UtopianFuture did not scam anyone. What he did was equivalent to buying fake likes on Facebook and Twitter. All he did was create sockpuppet accounts, to pad popularity in the initial weeks of NEM, and he later took them off the stakeholder list. This is a tactic done by practically every coin out there. Satoshi likely had a dozen aliases in 2009 to promote Bitcoin.
Think hard about it - UtopianFuture had nothing to do with the taint analysis (others were in charge and it was open to anyone willing to volunteer). If UtopianFuture still had his sock puppets then he would had been busted hard, no way (under any fantasy scenario) could he had kept 100s of sockpuppets (let alone a dozen or five of them).
UtopianFuture at best probably only had 2 to 5 sockpuppets total (later removed) but now he has zero and persumably no developer stake anymore.
You don't know any of this. All of your words are 100% conjecture. No, they are not. Anyone who is familiar with NEM would know that we had an open, transparent, taint analysis which last for several months. Anyone was able to review the list of stakeholders and weed out sockpuppets, hundreds were removed that way. UF's sockpuppet accounts were gone from the list before taint analysis began and the registrations ended. You keep trolling and insisting that UtopianFuture had 100s of sockpuppets but it's a rhetorical fallacy as taint analysis would had weeded him out months ago, and that hypothetical scandal which would way worse than UtopianFuture padding fake popularity in NEM back in January. The reality is this - NEM has over 1000 veteran stakeholders and it has the fairest distribution in crypto history. That's compared to your NxT / Qora / Sim which had distributions to less than 100 accounts (of which, due to lack of taint analysis, was arguably only a dozen or so real people). . it's all available for anyone to audit on the google doc. the trolls are simply trying to drive the stake price down to get in.

I'm in charge of twitter now and will try to provide more technical details on dev. https://twitter.com/nemcoinPlease follow! Also, what kind of information do you think people would want right now? this thread would be a good starting place, it gives a short explanation of the drama and a link to utopian's statement. anyone who reads a couple of posts will get the jist of what happened (not really a big deal when it comes down to it) and they can decide weather they are still in or not. we should use this thread going forward, wouldn't make sense to use the one utopia posted.
|
|
|
Good job guys. Lets move past this. Don't feed the trolls anymore as it is a closed case. I hope this thread is modded so that troll removal can be enforced. Lets have a bigger, better, badder community than any other coin except BTC itself ! (And maybe one day we'll be bigger than BTC yeah the actions of one person don't represent NEM. anyone asking about utopia's actions at this point (after it being discussed pretty thoroughly in several threads) is trollin' because they didn't get on board with the IPO...i've still got stake in NEM and i'm holding, dev team is still on board and that's all that matters.

why the coin is so expensive?
Your answer can be found on the first page. - Fair distribution (call for participation) for 3000 stakeholders - Proof of intent (distinct form proof of work and proof of stake) - Large, skilled, development team. Gimre and Jagaur were contributors to NxT. The other developers had roles in other successful coins. https://nxtforum.org/alternate-cryptocurrencies/should-i-hold-nem/+1,Don't forget, there is a very good organizer:UtopianFuture Don't forget the community behind NEM
