3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASRock H81 Pro BTC - SMOS Linux boots half way then Crash / fail - Reward!!! on: March 05, 2014, 04:19:14 AM
if your set on smos try creating the usb again.
do a fresh install, but first even though your only using one card right now plug in both molexs.
even if it appears to be a black screen maybe give it a few minutes, I've had a similar issue where I thought it crashed, the light on my USB wasnt showing activity anymore I simply removed the USB and plugged it back in ( not rebooting just during what I thought was a failed install) and it then started chugging along.

...12M for 6650 sounds very interesting ...

Yes it does sound interesting, but I would like to know if this new version will be more stable than the current batch?  Folks like myself who have got the LA3M/LA6M devices...we're seeing a wide range of hash rates per device...and the stability of the controller/firmware has A LOT of subtle debugging/fixing work that needs to be done on it before it can be considered releasable to the general public.

So I'd really like to get one of these but I would want to see at least 2 of the moderators or elite forum members get these in advance to confirm they work as promised for a minimum of 1 week before they actually go on sale.

agreed. bugs need to be worked out and their coms need improvement.
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Does the H81/H61 Pro BTC Need Powered Risers? on: February 23, 2014, 03:28:03 AM
Posted this in another thread, used 6xr9 270 and burned out the traces at the 24 pin power connector. So I would definitely use powered risers w/ this board.

Did you plug in double molex?

Yup, sure did

My opinion of this board- its a POS, gonna go w/ another board and powered risers, preferably USB powered risers
I agree these boards are absolute garbage. I've had two explode on me. sparks flying everywhere, burning out any peripherals attached.
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide on: February 22, 2014, 11:25:06 PM
I like this thread. thank you.
Being a newbie to mining, when I read the title of the thread manufacturers trustworthiness, I in no way expected there to be info regarding profitability of said equipment. The Title is clear, how trust worthy are the manufacturers ( do they actually deliver / on time) I think this thread covers that well.
If profitability is your main concern as a buyer / miner, you should really do some due dilligence and hit up some calculators as the profitability of mining directly correlates with the price of btc.
Anyone willing to drop money into more advanced asics (bigger $$) if of a reasonably sound mind can do that research on their own.
again good thread op.

that's terrible, has there been any sort of support from lightening regarding this?
I was strongly considering buying, but after all the horror stories about customer service and now the hardware itself, looks like its ants for me...

Has anyone else had the h81 pro btc explode on them when plugging in the additional molex's?
9  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / asrock h81 pro btc how to wire? sparks flyibg on: February 19, 2014, 10:34:31 PM
Hey y'all,
I was wondering if someone could post a how yo on using the asrock h81 pro btc.
I plugged in both molex connectors up to a 6 pin to my psu, threw in a r9 series card directly into the board, also plugged in the 24 pin and the cpu and the board started sparking when I started it up (screw driver method).

what would cause this?
this isnt my first build and leads me yo wonder about the quality of these boards...
any advise would be appreciated...
