2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maker/Taker pricing for a new altcoin exchange? on: June 20, 2014, 09:22:40 PM
Maker/Taker is definitely ideal.
Especially if you have an API that could support bot market makers.

Our API will be available in a few days.  But PM me if you want early access.

Good to know that you like Maker/Taker Smiley
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Maker/Taker pricing for a new altcoin exchange? on: June 20, 2014, 08:25:17 PM
Our exchange just switched to Maker/Taker pricing, with a +0.5% rebate for market makers (if you place the order first).  As a new exchange we're trying to increase volume and encourage people to place orders.  Kickstarting that initial volume is a challenge.  People come but don't see many other orders, so they don't place their orders, and neither does the next person, etc.  Do you think this will help?  Do you like this pricing model, or do you prefer the traditional one with fees around 0.2% for both buying/selling?

I also think this could be very lucrative opportunity for anyone interested in being a so called market maker, where you create both buy and sell orders at the same time.  You can make money on the spread (difference between the highest buy price and lowest sell price) as well as the 0.5% rebate.

If you haven't heard of Maker/Taker pricing before, here's how it works:

Market makers (those who are first to post the order) are rewarded with a +0.50% rebate. Takers (those who take the orders) are charged a -0.50% fee. In the end, market makers earn a rebate for providing liquidity and market takers help create a more efficient market.

Example:
Joe decides he wants to sell some of his Darkcoin. He posts a sell order for 50 Darkcoin. Before the rebate, the sale would yield a total of 0.8835 BTC. With the rebate applied, the sale would yield an additional 0.0044175 BTC -- almost $3 USD at Bitcoin's current price as of today.

So what do you think, will Maker/Taker pricing increase our volume?  Does it interest you, or is there a reason very few exchanges doing this?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 11, 2014, 04:20:14 PM
Thanks for all the comments about what frustrates you!

Based on the comments here are the top three frustrations:

1.  Speed is the biggest frustration overall.  Slow trades, slow deposits, slow withdrawals, slow websites, or sites down completely. The current exchanges don't seem to scale well.

2.  Slow to add the newest coins, and not enough coins in general.  Lack of a clear process to get a coin added.

3.  Customer service also came up a lot.

Based on these top three frustrations I've decided to start building a new exchange.  One that will be fast and have the latest coins.

I've written up a description for the new exchange, that I'm calling RapidCX (Rapid Coin eXchange).  I'd really appreciate you feedback.  Here is the description.

If this exchange existed today would you switch?  Are there any frustrations that I missed?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RapidCX - The FAST Exchange on: February 10, 2014, 09:49:27 PM
ADD AnimeCoin Exchange

The exchange is not open yet! Smiley  However, we will have a very clear and fast process for getting new coins added to the exchange once we've launched.  My goal is to have a many new coins added as possible.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] RapidCX - The FAST Exchange on: February 10, 2014, 09:05:32 PM

We're building an alternate cryptocurrency exchange that is FAST!  Really Fast.

We listened to your complaints about slow trades, slow deposits, slow withdrawals, slow websites and slow to add new coins.  Those other exchanges don't seem to be able to scale.  It's time for a change.

Our Promise to you...

Fast
Milliseconds matter. Fast trades using industry proven Disruptor technology. Fast deposits. Fast withdrawals. Fast website. The very latest coins. Speed is everything.

The Newest Coins
You want to trade the newest coins because they have the most opportunity. Coins are added fast and have a clear process for voting and selecting.

Safe and Stable
99.9% Uptime - Amazon Web Service (AWS) Servers provide scalability and redundancy - DDoS protection - Warm and cold coin storage to keep your coins safe from hackers.

Transparent
Real-time display of trading times, website uptime, deposit times, page load times, customer service wait times. If it can be measured and matters to you, then it's public.

Trust
It doesn't happen over night. Great relationships take time. We hope to earn your trust by proving it to you over and over.

Customer Service
Tired of waiting to hear what happened to your coins, or never hearing at all? We have 24/7 customer support. And guess what? They can actually make decisions.

How fast are trades?... Really fast.
Our exchange uses technology specifically designed for real stock markets and exchanges. We use ZeroMQ and the innovative LMAX Disruptor library that is industry proven to handle "6 million orders per second on a single thread." Disrupors are orders of magnitude faster than traditional algorithms (used by those other guys). For comparision, the LMAX exchange average trade speed is cution-performance]3.14 ms and handles $125 Billion USD per month.

Sounds Awesome! When is the launch?
We're aiming for mid 2014. If you want to get updates on our progress, invites to beta versions, or notified about the upcoming launch then get on our email list at RapidCX.com

Then why are you telling us now?
We'd like you feedback to make sure we're on the right track. Developing software takes time. Especially, an exchange that is secure, scalable, redundant and really FAST!

This is NOT an IPO.  We are a bootstrapped startup company that is building this next generation exchange right now.

Let us know what you think (like we even needed to ask...).

P.S. Get on our email list to get updates and invites to our beta version.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 04, 2014, 06:33:02 PM
Mainly issues with perceptions and there is a higher likelihood of easy manipulation for coins without much activity. I don't think there should be a daily minimum, but maybe if a coin's bi-weekly moving average dips below a certain point, consideration to phase it out should be made.

Thanks for the explanation and suggestion.  That's a good idea.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 10:30:06 PM
I have frustrations with mtgox and coins-e. Both owe me coins.

Lost coins is definitely frustrating!  Angry  Did you try either of their customer support?  And if so how was that experience?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 10:20:56 PM
Thanks Gazza1, hellscabane and Disastrus.  The trade lag/speed issue seems to come up often.

I do wish that some exchanges that trade many cryptocurrencies only allow the trade of coins that maintain enough activity.

Why is that?  Is it because there are too many coins displayed in the interface and you want to filter just the active ones (remote the clutter)?  Or because the buy/sell orders don't execute when there isn't enough activity?  Or something else entirely?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 09:40:59 PM
Trading at craptsy is always a frustration, however coinedump is often even slower. ... You hate it but you always return there.

Thanks hvezdasmrti!  Sounds like a wonderful experience, I can see why you're always return Smiley
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 09:08:43 PM
accepting bribes for coins to be added

So you're frustrated that exchanges aren't accepting enough bribes Wink
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 07:53:31 PM
Biggest frustration for me is that they are getting very slow because the number of users is increasing too fast and they can't handle all the work.

Thanks Isildur23!  I'm glad to see there is lots of growth in the community, but it's definitely frustrating when websites are slow, or trade orders take a long time to execute.  Thanks!
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 06:23:46 PM
Well I put a buy order in for volt for 9 satoshi, I missed a zero and instead of 660K, I bought 66K. So double check them zeros Cheesy.

All those zeros and decimal places definitely get confusing at times!  Since computers can't read your mind (yet Smiley ) the only way I can think to help with that problem is to show the equivalent value in BTC or USD (or whatever the user is familiar with).  That might help avoid those off by 10x errors.

Thanks Zisef!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges? on: February 03, 2014, 05:58:36 PM
It seems to me that the current exchanges get the job done, but there is a lot of room for improvement.  So I'm curious...

What is your biggest frustration with the altcoin currency exchanges available today?

Thanks!
Steve
