1  Other / Meta / Re: Quality lost in the spam on: October 03, 2018, 06:44:38 AM
First I want to know how you determined post are quality ? I notice most of post on your profile are one line. Do you consider this kind of post for a quality post ?

I determine quality the way any other person does. If it's is constructive and helpful. I was not referring to my posts, and made no claims. I guess you're found nothing quite extraordinary there, I'm still reading and learning.

so we have to trawl through a load of dog shit to give the odd merit?

Precisely!

Firstly, if you came across a post and found it helpful, then it has completed more than halve of its intended purposes.

That's true but quality should always be rewarded. That way the deserving users can rank up easily and faster and wouldn't have to hover around a specific board.
2  Other / Meta / Quality lost in the spam on: October 03, 2018, 06:25:36 AM
Browsing through the forum, I come across quite a number of quality posts in mega threads which goes unnoticed, and unmerited.
Could we have more presence on merit sources in those boards and threads which are just recovering from the spam attack of Tue past few months. This would encourage posters on those boards and lead to a general cleansing, and also quality posters would be rewarded, regardless where they post.
3  Other / Meta / Re: The unluckiest person in bitcointalk on: October 02, 2018, 10:56:05 AM
In addition to post rank and activity, a user needs to have spent a certain amount of time on the forum.
I believe it is upwards from two years for a legendary member.
So once that user has been on the forum long enough, he would be promoted.
if it's not done automatically then he/she just needs to make one post more
4  Other / Meta / Re: Merits shouldn't be an individual's arbitrary decision on: September 17, 2018, 05:38:13 PM
And when would we have anyone protecting the rights of the lower ranking members?
This is the internet and furthermore this is a private forum.  What rights do you think you're entitled to, exactly?

Okay, interest of lower ranking members then. Is that better?
But that wasn't the only question there, but the only one you addressed. Nice, just nice.
5  Other / Meta / Re: Merits shouldn't be an individual's arbitrary decision on: September 17, 2018, 05:31:10 PM
And let me reiterate here that is am not an alt account of the OP. Cause some people are quick to jump to instant conclusions and ban a user (abuse of power?).
And I can prove it if necessary.

While BT is bickering about spams and newbies, other  forums are going to the moon.

With just one diamond you can buy all the shit in the world  Grin But you won't find too many buyers for shit  Grin
This forum was never about quantity and should never be like that

You are totally off the mark, get back on line and bring an argument.
The issue here is, is that post a direct copy of the link?
And does that deserve an instant ban?
And also were the moderators biased because the user made an unsavoury post?
And when would we have anyone protecting the rights of the lower ranking members?
And why do people leave the actual matter and make random comments?
7  Other / Meta / Re: Does that deserve a ban? on: September 17, 2018, 05:19:12 PM
And I guess they would call me an alt account of the original poster, I am not.
And I can prove it if needed.
Buy injustice affects as all, and no newbie is safe from the higher ranked members, backed by the moderators.
I just went through the unofficial rules again, no me room of a ban for having similarities with some other post. Or was a plagiarism test run?
8  Other / Meta / Re: Merits shouldn't be an individual's arbitrary decision on: September 17, 2018, 05:07:09 PM

I don't see how that user can be banned because his post has some similarities with an article on some other websites.
It could possibly have been used for research purposes, and the user took some information from there and other sites.
This just looks like a retaliation, cause this post struck a nerve, this further proves the bias in this forum and how the the lower ranking members are trod upon by higher ranking members.
For God's sake thus is not a content competition and it is not in the rules that you can't pick ideas from sources.
Are we suppose to learn about cryptocurrency without reading about it?
I strongly suggest theymos looks into this.
Maybe it's not the spam posters killing the the group but the conceited high ranking members.

It is quite simple - use your own words or quote the source that you got the material from.

It is not hard to quote the source if it isn't your own words that you are posting.

If you quote the source then it could be considered "fair use". If you don't quote the source then it could be plagiarism and copyright infringement.

Did you read the post?
I did and I also checked the link, there were a lot of difference between the post and the link.
I feel it was a prejudiced decision as I see words from other end source added to a post.
This is not a content competition, was there a rule on the % of plagiarism?
While BT is bickering about spams and newbies, other  forums are going to the moon.
No one can complain without some random user going through his pride searching for some errors or even going as petty as checking for spelling errors and when the find some shallow fault, the moderators are more than happy to do their bidding.. That is what is killing the forum not spams and whatnot... Clear bais.
And when you call them out they hide as they have done on this thread.
9  Other / Meta / Does that deserve a ban? on: September 17, 2018, 03:53:47 PM
I would like to bring this thread to people's attention, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030929.0
I have always considered the bias in this forum, and I would like an opinion from others does that deserve a ban, or is it mere bickering over the lower ranked members.
It could be me later, getting banned for taking information from some website. Without quoting word for word. I can't post pictures, but please go to the website (link in the thread) and then read the users post, and let's know what you think.

The bias in this group is so glaring, but of course I shouldn't complain, I am a newbie.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Merits shouldn't be an individual's arbitrary decision on: September 17, 2018, 03:30:12 PM
i do not really feel handing out merits should be left entirely in the hands of those who have racked up numerous merits,or the big guns in the forum

Anyone who has more than 2 merits has at least 1 merit to hand out. Maybe you should consider your own ineptitude before blaming everyone else.

Edit: And your latest post here is plagiarized from here. Archived and reported. Enjoy your ban.

Another warning to everyone currently begging for merit - maybe you should consider your own stupidity before drawing attention to yourself.

There isn't no way to get it back, but I guess you knew this already.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will actually happen if bitcoin price continue to drop? on: September 09, 2018, 09:44:10 AM
I think any one connected to digital currency would be affected by the drop in price
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is cryptocurrency so difficult to understand on: September 09, 2018, 09:37:04 AM
Anyone with more than average knowledge on Mordern technology, can with effort learn about digital currencies.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Three things you should not do when Bitcoin prices drop! on: September 09, 2018, 09:15:28 AM

Many stories share the same plot, and each time you see a coin A rising drastically, you start to sell your Coin B and immediately jump into Coin A. The psychological effect is called The FOMO is a normal fear of human psychology but is really dangerous in the Crypto market.

I disagree here, if you're a fast follower and can quickly read charts from small movements, you can join the train, before it becomes a bandwagon..
16  Other / Meta / Re: Have we left "Bitcoin Discussion" board for spammers, forever?? on: September 04, 2018, 04:28:49 PM
Not all newbies are spammers and not all spammers are newbies.
Exactly, there are spammers who are at higher ranks, and I think they should get the benefit of the doubt as they are fairly new.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain for Beginners on: September 03, 2018, 12:23:28 PM
You can define it as a chain that links transactions, and connects senders to receivers.
And miners are the ones who connects the nodes, and get rewarded for it.
18  Other / Meta / Re: How can we stimulate Bitcoin Talk? on: September 03, 2018, 12:14:01 PM
I suggest opening more threads which are a little away from the everyday cryptocurrency discussions.
And also carefully moderating it, so it doesn't slip away as most of the threads in here.
19  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 03, 2018, 12:07:52 PM
Plagiarism is really frowned upon in the forum, but no doubt some others has gotten away with it, and probably with some merits.

He probably did it just for the merits, since most bounties don't require such long or high quality post.
20  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: September 02, 2018, 06:10:22 AM
It's still basically based on your activity and longevity.
It has a certain degree of neutrality though.
