1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | High PoS | Secure | MultiSend | liteStake | Adv Coin Control on: December 10, 2015, 04:11:55 PM
Quick question. What are the chances of getting HYP listed on some additional exchanges like Bittrex?

I can't use Poloniex anymore, because of where I live.
I'm trying to avoid Crypsty as much as possible, since I don't totally trust them.

Any thoughts?

HYP was on bittrex but was recently delisted because it was not meeting the volume requirements there. You could also pick some up at cryptopia or bx.in.th, you just might want to prompt some people to send some coins that way first.

Cool! Thanks for the feedback.

Smaller block sizes seem to be the ticket for me.
I seem to have reached some critical mass where I'm staking at least once per day.
This is a good thing!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt.CC | Scrypt Cloud Mining on: July 03, 2015, 05:54:07 PM

I agree about exploring proof-of-stake coins. I got had by that whole XPY hashstaker thing courtesy of our friends at GAW. I became very alarmed by what i saw going on with scrypt.cc. I decided that I needed to put my funds somewhere where I had control of them.

HYP has been very solid. I´ve been in that since last fall. HYP seems to have one of the most active development teams. Presstab is always on here.  I had huge holdings in Mintcoin last year. I got rid of them because I needed the cash, and Mint didn´t seem to be doing much. I wish to heck I had been able to hold on to them. The price of Mint has gone crazy in the last few months.

It´s definitely a learning experience.

HYP is very good, I have been working closely with presstab on a number of different things. A number of people around this topic also warned about XPY and why it could not work and you get the same resistance from people, you present the math of the matter of why it cannot be possible with solid arguments and proof and people turn a blind eye and call FUD, lose a bunch of money and later on realize the trolls were trying to help.

I posted a pretty good list of POS Coins a few pages back if you are looking for a few alternatives.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444495.msg11776285#msg11776285

You know what? You´re right, many those people that were accused of FUD were trying to help. I got carried away by XPY (and greed.) I didn´t want to consider the possibility that I could have gotten scammed. I was getting the same proverbial bad feeling here, and decided that I better act on this when I had the chance. As long as I keep my wallet backed up, and am able to generate the necessary private keys, I have control of the funds. I´ve decided that this is better for now.

In a way yes, when Blocks are static in POS it's a little like a lottery (because the same amount of reward is being generated each Block and each day) you would assume that larger Blocks are better because they would Stake sooner. The Skill is in finding that sweet spot in which you can generate the highest amount of Stakes possible with the amount of Coins you have. I thought larger Blocks were better too until presstab broke up all his Blocks super small, I called him crazy but he proved me wrong. There is such a thing as too small as well and may dwindle at max age if going too low, if lots of people start using small Blocks, then you would need to use larger Blocks in order to compensate.

OK, you're talking about splitting outputs into optimal sizes for staking. I see. Smiley I do that too...

Yeah, the splitting of Blocks for optimal rewards. I really like your work with Clams, I love the distribution method of it and when it comes to altcoins there have been many people that have come to you for support. I still remember that it was you who had verified the legitimacy of those leaked primenode keys for PayCoin. Why would you recommend the khashier Block explorer when the Presstab Clams explorer is way better? http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/CLAM/index.php

These guys should just forget this Scrypt.cc Ponzi mining shit and go for Proof of Stake Coins, there is atleast 10 or so good POS Coins making good headway and provide nice rewards while allowing users to always have control over their own funds.

updated code and clients are posted if you get sick of looking at the warning::::

I'll give it a go over the weekend. Thanks for the update!

Anyone seeing the synccheckpoint is too old error?  We don't use a checkpoint server so I am going to delete this shitty line of code for the next wallet release.

Also I am going to be out of town from Saturday the 30th to Saturday the 6th, with little to no internet. Am giving the janitors keys to trusted members of the community while I am gone.

I just started seeing this. It didn't seem to have any effect on minting, so I didn't pay much attention to it.
I'm glad to know that it's a benign warning.

I'm surprised to notice the price of HYP dropping below 100sat today with how advanced and well functioning the wallet is and how damn hard it is getting to stake.  I think over the longer term HYP is a great buy.

I think HYP is getting some blow back from the few horrible, horrible...I mean REALLY horrible, ultrahigh% POS coins that have salted the earth lately.  I think people see original 750% and think similar out of control inflation.

When I read that sentence with so many "horribles" in it, there's only one POS coin that comes to mind. Could you be talking about XPY by any chance? I dumped most of my holdings there when I got the opportunity.

I put a bunch of the proceeds from said dump operation into HYP. I seem to have reached a critical mass where I'm staking every day now. What's not to like?

I've noticed that the price for HYP has been going down
quite a bit over the last few weeks.
Is that because most people are now getting new coins via minting?

A large holder of HYP needed to get out of all of his coin investments in a hurry, so 700k HYP was liquidated quite fast. I think this ate up a lot of the buy orders, and they haven't been replaced yet. Minting is adding around 960k HYP per day, with price @ 100 sats that would mean an expansion in value of 1 BTC of value per day is being absorbed if price stays constant.

OK. Thanks for the explanation.

I can help fix this after payday.  I probably can't buy 700K hyp, but I can do my part. Grin

I also noticed it and thought there was a team effort to hurt us. Good to know it was just someone cashing out. Good time to get a coveted 1 million coin position.

XPY seems to have the market cornered on those ¨team efforts¨ you speak of. Hopefully HYP can just keep growing quietly under the radar for now.

Well, my balance is about 50% of what it was late last week.
I must have gotten off on the wrong fork. Easy come, easy go.

@Presstab, that was a very nice explanation you put forth in that article.

backup your wallet.dat then Tools -> Repair wallet

Will do! Thanks!

no problemo. IF that does not sort you out, jump on to irc so we can help you better.

All fixed! The repair process caused the program to crash several times. Each time the program restarted, there was more restored to my balance. No more orphans! Thanks for your help!

My first clue that something was amiss this morning was when the network weight was less than 50,000 and a bunch of stuff wanted to stake rapidly.

I´m glad that I dug through the forums and learned about the hard-fork.  Grin

OK. I have a question I´m asking on behalf of a ¨friend.¨

My ¨friend¨ was going to consolidate some blocks in his HYP wallet with some recent HYP purchases he made.

This ¨friend¨ knows that in retrospect, he should have stuck to a smaller block size, rather than sending almost 10000 HYP in a single transaction. He doesn´t always think things through.

The transaction has sat unconfirmed for over 45 minutes.

I can tell this ¨friend¨one of two things:

1. ¨Suck it up and be smarter in the future. You´re just out the HYP.¨
2. ¨Don´t worry, the transaction will just take a long time due to its large block size.¨

Which answer should I tell my ¨friend?¨

I´m also thinking of telling my ¨friend¨, ¨Nice job loser, you´ve just bumped up the difficulty level.¨

Any (relatively polite) feedback I can give my ¨friend¨, would be greatly appreciated.

I have to be careful, since he´s a bit of a wuss.

Thanks in advance!

If the transaction is sitting unconfirmed, then there was a problem. What you need to do is make sure you are using the most recent version of the wallet. Then click on tools and repair wallet, this should repair your wallet to what it was before the transaction and allow you to resend it.

Sending 10k in one transaction is absolutely fine. I send hundreds of thousands sometimes.

The 10000 HYP transaction eventually confirmed. It just took a while. It´s been properly split now.  Grin

Oh man it sure is!

The themes were not in the build I upped for you but they are a bit buggy still on OSX (on my to do list)

I don't know what presstab will want to do but if nothing else I will send you a link for another build tomorrow with the themes and one more double check that I have fixed my build issues. Thanks again for bringing this to my attention bud.

If that´s how I can help, I´m glad to.  I wish I had more time.

There´s work, a class I´ve been taking, and some major personal stuff going on.
These days, if I get my pants on the right way, it´s a good day!

Now we just need the price to go back up.

Why is the order book on Poloniex stuffed with sell orders of 50-100 HYP?

I´m pretty sure the answer is ¨someone is manipulating the price,¨but I thought I´d ask anyway.
