I made this account just for this thread only. I would say good things and be more positive if this project was actually going somewhere, but it is not. It has been several days since the websites went down, the wallets were working properly, and the market place working. The only thing this team made sure to work properly is their Genesis Block Sale page. I wonder why? You cant even sell this coin anymore because their in-house exchange is not working, but yet, they are still taking btc bids for their so called genesis block sale with no problems. They keep saying they are working on these problems due to DNS issues and are transitioning their infrastructure, and it would of been finished by end of day Monday.....well it certainly has been several days since, and yet nothing still has changed and no updates on progress. This team barely communicates and less and less of the developers are on discord anymore. This project is a sinking ship and probably a waste of time. What is unique about this project compared to others? Its just another useless coin trying to be a replacement for fiat which will ultimately fail. You should move on and carry on from this project.

This is looking like a pyramid more than ever.
I don't know what more to say about your pyramid argument. A lot of folks have already tried to explain this. All PoS coins would be a pyramid scheme by your reasoning. And they are not.

i need help... i created my walet @Maicol792 how i can unlock the wallet?? thanks for help
Looks like TC11 is your inviter as per https://merit.disifi.com/wallet/Maicol792. He's available mostly on Discord. You can connect to him there to get your wallet unlocked. If he is unreachable or your wallet still remains locked, you can use my link (in my signature) to set up a new wallet with the same alias (all aliases are up for grabs until they get unlocked). I'll unlock your invite request.

So, you must be a big bag holder of merit then. Not all PoS coins is a pyramid, just Merit in particular. The way the whole thing is setup, is very complicated and not user friendly like how the developers claim this project is. It is in peoples best interested to recruit people under their accounts so they can reap rewards. In order to be able to gain significant amount of rewards, they need to get a hold of a lot of Merit. Very convenient that there is a Block sale of Merit going on right now,(one that is going to last for a year and half, especially in this down market).

Also, why is the wallets, and websites down all the time?Huh This is pathetic, it shows this team is not very good cause they are having multitudes of problems all the time, and are not quick to respond to questions, and not quick to fix the problems.

This is looking like a pyramid more than ever. The top 50 coin holders earn the majority of the growth rewards. Many of the top wallets are owned by the Merit Developers. To be a top 50 coin holder, you need to buy coins from the greatly manipulated in-house market or from the developer Genesis Block Sale, currently ongoing for 545 more days. Everyday, 27000 coins are auctioned off for BTC. If you do buy it, you get coins proportionate to the amount of BTC you send. You still wont be a top 50 coin holder because even 27000 coins is not enough to be in the top 50. So you will need to buy from this sale more than once.

The developers have gone silent for the most part. Barely answering questions, and only to show up when there is a problem with their network, which happens once a month. When this happens, everything is shutdown. You can't use the wallets, access the websites, or use the market place, it is a complete shit show.

The so called mobile wallets, dont work for iOS, even though people have been asking about it for weeks now, and they keep saying we are working on it with nothing to show for it.

They don't answer very important questions about their block sale, which makes me wonder if this is even SEC compliant. They claim to have been corresponding with the SEC for the past 3 months to explain their approach and position, and claiming because Merit was launched in a decentralized way, nothing about the token sale is initial. There is no centralized price-setting, which solidifies Merit as a digital asset or currency, and not a security.

This is just flat out an ICO, in a dutch auction form. They need to be registered with the SEC and are probably not. Bidders, buyers, beware of this pyramid scam coin. Do you really want to throw your money away?

Its like send me 0.1 BTC and I'll send you 1 BTC, but instead of BTC, its Merit coin.  Oh yeah, theres currently no exchanges that trade Merit, except the Developers own in-house Market. Also, you can only make sell orders, no buy orders on this exchange. Also, this exchange of theirs is heavily manipulated!!!

So what happened to this project? Grin The net hash rate has gone down considerably since I last was around. The price has taken a dive, and the mining rewards have been reduced even more!!!!  It used to be 10 coins went to the miner and 10 coins went to some growth rewards. But now it is 5 coins goes to the miner and 15 coins goes to growth rewards. This new change was the result of POG3, which basically screws over the miners, the people who keep the blockchain going. They only get 5 coins for solving the work on the blockchain, while people who hold the most coins, gets the rest of the 15 coins from the block solved.

Before, growth rewards were given to people who held at least 20 coins in their wallet. Now, you basically have to be a top 1% Merit holder to earn rewards. On top of that, you also need to have a network of people under you to boost your score. The problem, as noted before, is the ability to get invites. You have to mine on certain pools, or straight out buy them in order to get them. Also, people constantly spamming their links and fake applicants wasting peoples invites. A very strong barrier to entry for this project.

They made hundreds, if not a thousands test(fake)wallets to test their new pog3 fork. However, this test was done on the live blockchain, and not on their test network. These test wallets, have been gaining growth rewards and basically robbing real users from gaining any rewards. On top of this, they plan a sale of 15 million coins from their 20 million genesis block in a just a few days further flooding the market with coins, basically going to hurt the price of this coin.

You have to buy a lot of coins from their in-house exchange(the only exchange) in order to gain these so called growth rewards. Forget mining this coin anymore, because only 25% of the block is rewarded to actual miners, while the rest of the block(75%) is given to top Merit holders. It is not profitable at all to mine this coin, unless you get free electricity.

They're basically saying, you have to buy a ton load of coins from their exchange, if you want to partake in these growth rewards, because screw the miners. This project feels like a ponzi/pyramid type scam even more than before!!!! BEWARE!!!!

Pyramid Scam Alert!!! Stay Away!!!! I have taken a good look at this project, and it is surely a pyramid scam. It is in your best interest to grow your community, so you can earn these so called growth rewards. These growth rewards are based on your community score, where score is based on a combination of things like how many coins you have, how many people you have under your community, the age of the coins you have, etc.

The problem here is, there is only so many invitations available, and they are basically produced at a steady rate. This means the supply of invitations will always be limited and will be scarce. Right now, the early adopters of this coin have the majority of the invites, stocked up from the earliest mining days. So they are getting all of the new invitees, while people are in the trading channel trying to sell invites up to 10-30 merit each, which currently translate to $2.65 - $7.50 per invite at 4250 satoshi per merit.  Sure, these people claim it is easy to get invited, but to grow your community, it is a mission in it self.  You can try to invite people in various ways, but the easiest way would be to invite someone through the discord or telegram. However, there are the same people there, fighting over invitees, spamming their invite link over and over again, like clockwork, some even have bots running, so your chances to get a invite is basically 0.

When you do get a invitee, the chances of that person being a real active miner is low because it was most likely a spammer, trying to make as many fake accounts he or she can.  Why do they do this? because of the invite situation. 40% of new accounts eventually mine a invite over time, so people are spamming the discord bot and using posted links to generate new accounts. Many of these accounts are being made in order to farm invites. With invites only being generated at a steady rate and the spam account nonsense, how can anyone new build their community effectively without having to spend $2.65-$7.50 per invite, and without that invite getting wasted on a spammer?

This coin looks like a sh*t show, and stinks of pyramid scam. You basically can get invited for free from someone, but would then have to spend money in order to buy invites to grow your community. However, most of the time your invite will get wasted by a fake/spam account anyways. People say you can verify your invitee, but it is just as easy to log in from another computer and verify using a different username on discord or telegram.

Stay away, there are better projects out there.

So are all you guys Merit Bag Holders or something? Shilling to the max and defending one another. Maybe its the same person using multiple accounts? who knows. Be aware of this project!!!! It stinks of pyramid/scam!!!!!!!

I have another question regarding Growth Mining. Couldn't a handful of people working very efficiently end up causing a sort of  growth mining centralization?

Proof of Growth allows for people to be rewarded based on their community growth score. The 50% of the mining rewards gets randomly distributed in a form of a lottery every single block. Lets say someone has multiple accounts with large communities, they might get a high chance of winning the lottery, they never get 100% of the rewards.

Also invites are distributed randomly in a variety of ways as well.

So to answer your question, yes those with a big community may have a higher chance of rewards, but it will be extremely difficult -especially as the Merit network continues to grow the growth rewards get distributed across more wallet, limiting the return for any bad actors.

I hope that helps.

KAMO saves the day once again lol. Thanks!

Are there any communities of growth miners now? I assume they would split the lottery if they worked together?

I airdrop random Merit onto those under me who I see are active and growing. I also share free invites to those below me if they need them, and prove to be growing the community- it helps all of us so  I try to promote the community sharing concept with those who are not trying to abuse the generosity .

the growth rewards are paid out per block- so they'll be .3-.6 MRT per payment - not a set amount per day or month. it's per 60 second chance of winning based on your community growth score.

So if I join under you, would you be rewarded a small amount for every person I invite?

Nope! It's not a pyramid.

So, if you used my link (would be awesome) - It would improve my growth score but I dont get paid a specific amount because of it . I dont get a % or anything per person - or even per person you get. The higher growth score simply increases the chances of me winning in the lottery every block.

You could someday get a CGS higher than mine based on your own growth (your growth still helps me, but it's not like you cant pass me- I passed the person above me).

We just are thrown in the lottery pool every block the same way - more chances higher the CGS.

does that help?

Typically when someone says something is not a pyramid scheme, it usually is.  Based on how much you are posting on this thread, and shilling the ever crap out of this coin, I'm going to assume this project is some type of pyramid/scam project. Are you in on this pyramid/scam? You defend it and then immediately tell people to use your link. Seems very pyramidy/scammy to me.
