This sucks, I wanted to buy, When everything is steady state things are ok but when there is a panic you get locked out, they need to add more bandwidth or servers or this is done deliberately.

I think some of you guys should add comments to this story on WSJ.

5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: August 14, 2014, 07:53:14 PM
I am very happy with my miners from Bitmain but I think this upgrade kit is way too expensive, you could sell your S1 and just buy S3, the difference in price is .12BTC which is about $60, not worth the hassle of doing the upgrade but if you have a broken S1 or non-functional S1 then perhaps it's worth it.

my 2 cents.

Agree. And remember; if you buy an S3 you can still use your old S1. It will still run profitably for a while, especially if underclocked.

I also think that if Bitmain sold them cheaper then you could have a scenario where these hardware/software smart miners could assemble an S3 equivalent type miner cheaper so I think the price was set so that it would not hurt the S3 Sales.

I just moved my 8 S1 Antminers to my Garage and noticed that the Remote Garage Door Openers are acting, sometimes they open and sometimes they don't, I am not using the machines via Wifi, do you guys know if the machines interfere with Garage Door Openers/Remote Openers?

Thank you

I sent you a PM, looks like the package is being returned to you.
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 30, 2014, 07:54:00 PM

Perhaps SP Tech doesn't have the funds to refund customers now. Also, the venture capitalist/private funding people will get paid first most likely, these people make perhaps 500% on their investment so I would also guess that SP Tech paid these people from the Pre-Sale Funds.

Hope I am wrong

Typically, angel investors get paid after a certain amount of time according to a % of EBIT or revenue.

This period is almost never below 4 years.

Additionally, Angel investors typically profit from an exit scenario according to a percentage of their original funding.

Bitcoin Mining Hardware Design Business is not Typical and I am sure you know that, 4 Years is very long time in this business, I am pretty confident that investors are getting paid but we will never know due NDA.

And is there actually a reason compensation is being delayed to october? If I remember correct SPtech had enough private funding for each batch.

Why will customer funds be held hostage?

Sucks you don't get your refunds until October. That's a nice interest free loan that Spondoolies got from the community and now you don't have the option to buy competitors gear if you wanted since SP is holding onto your money for a few more months.  Roll Eyes

I agree and why not publish the compensation plan on the website.
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 30, 2014, 02:26:47 AM
Well you just proved my point by advertising AM gen4 chips Smiley

No, that was an example of what you have been doing. Regardless of you being a liar and a shill, you are the one who took money in exchange for a product that is significantly different than advertised and you are the one who is legally obligated to deal with any requested refunds. So, if someone asks you for a full refund, will you provide it as legally required? Look at Ken Slaughter, is that your future? Will you do a runner like Labcoin? Shall we start calling you BFLRoadStress now?

Good luck trying to sell anything else in the future.

I think RoadStress arranged the group buy and was the middle man, I am pretty sure he made good money out of this deal but the final payment was made to the company so not sure if he is responsible for any refund but I agree with you that this is a mess.

13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 30, 2014, 01:47:02 AM
I don't see you jumping to buy my miner off me when you say IM CRAZY to ask for a refund.

No, you're certainly not crazy and I'm pretty sure that they're legally obligated to give a full refund to anyone who requests one.

When did jimmothy passed the AM shill torch to you?

How is telling someone they have the right to a full refund shilling for AM? Have I said anything about how much of a failure these chips are and how AM's 28nm chip is going to blow them out of the water and all kinds of other nonsense like you have been doing in the AM thread? Do I have a link to AM1 in my signature?

No, I haven't been doing any of that. I just corrected you on the lies you were telling and made a statement about consumer rights. If someone asks you for a full refund, you are legally obligated to give them one. It's as simple as that.

Well you just proved my point by advertising AM gen4 chips Smiley

Please correct me more on my lies just like jimmothy does.

I can get 28 S3s into a single server cabinet for ~12.3TH (440 GH/s @ 350W each).
.....
Have fun cleaning up this mess, Roadstress!

Please post a picture with the 28 S3s into a single server cabinet on the dedicated thread with pictures of mining rigs.

Thank you. Will try to have fun while doing it.

Here is the picture but it shows 27 but I am pretty sure you could put one more:)

14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 30, 2014, 01:22:42 AM
I was waiting for the Spondoolies SP30 announcement before ordering more S3s.

Each server cabinet I rent has 2 x 30A 208V outlets for a total of ~10KW, so I was hoping to be able to run 4 SP30s at 6TH/s in a single cabinet (24TH).

Considering the August / Sept batch of SP30s only runs at 4.5 TH/s and uses 3KW, I can only get 3 SP30s in a single server cabinet for ~13.5TH.

I can get 28 S3s into a single server cabinet for ~12.3TH (440 GH/s @ 350W each).

I see absolutely no reason to pre-order a SP30 over buying a S3, which is available now, even though the S3 has slightly worse power efficiency.

I hope many folks learned a hard lesson about the perils of pre-orders, and I wouldn't want to be Roadstress right now and have to deal with all the pissed off customers from his group buy. Have fun cleaning up this mess, Roadstress!

I still like Spondoolies tech, and think they make good products, but they did grossly overhype and inflate the SP30 specifications in order to sell more SP30 pre-orders. I may even purchase a October SP30 if they ship immediately and are competitive with other offerings on the market in October.

Can you tell me how much it's costing to rent the full rack with 2 30A/208 circuits and what state it's located?
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 30, 2014, 12:21:44 AM
What I meant was no refund for the total purchase, the hashrate is off by 25%, I understand that there could be electronic issues but deal is a deal and they should offer full refund along with compansation they will be offering and let the buyers decide.

Since they announced that they will match the $/Gh paid you must be crazy to want/ask for a full refund now. My GB members got 0.83$/GH for August delivery. Why would you refund that when the miner should be shipping soon (1-2 weeks)? Still can't get a better offer.

RoadStress,

I don't think you get my point and I think you are biased since you did the GB. The company promised a spec. And took millions of dollars based on that spec. Basically free financing by the customers and now the company wants to compensate for their shortcomings, this is not a good business ethics period, I think they should have full refund along with the compansation plan and let the customer choose the option.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 29, 2014, 10:50:37 PM
And all hosting quotes we got are for 2500W and no one saus a word to say it was 2700W (even hashplex hash SP30 listed as 2500W https://hashplex.com/frequently-asked-questions/)

Another problem could be pushing the PSUs to that limit, being server grade is not the same as "unlimited powa" a 10% over specs sounds risky so I hope the FW is on the safe zone to avoid burning the PSUs

Hashplex got the 2500W from the product page, but it was stated a long time ago that for the 6TH/s the units would need 2700W.

If you can point us where, it will be great.

Too lazy to check the official SP-Tech site? http://www.spondoolies-tech.com

Basically the co. over promised and under delivered, this is not the way to do business and is the reason why I will never buy a Pre-Sale, I bet the co. knew there would be issues with hardware hence no refund. Currently I only buy from companies that sell from stock, When Spondoolies sells from stock is the day I place an order.

So SP-Tech just announced that they will offer refunds and you say that there are no refunds. Why?

What I meant was no refund for the total purchase, the hashrate is off by 25%, I understand that there could be electronic issues but deal is a deal and they should offer full refund along with compansation they will be offering and let the buyers decide.

... I bet the co. knew there would be issues with hardware ...
Not true. We got nasty surprise.

Sorry, should have been more clear, what I meant was the fact that you had No Refund Policy from the start, you guys are smart engineers and most likely expected some sort of issues with the hardware, you could only do so much with simulation software etc. so your company decided not to issue refunds as a company policy, I did not mean that you knew about this issue.

Dear Customers,

After a close inspection of the first ASICs, I'm pleased to announce that the ASICs are fully functional.  Made from industrial grade, sophisticated hardware, the SP30 is now the best mining rig available in the market.

For units produced up to and including September, the SP30's hash rate will be 4.5TH/s +- 5%. Power consumption will be 3KW at the wall.

With additional tuning of the production process for October and onwards, we expect future SP30s to deliver a hash-rate of 5.5 +- 5%, with power consumption of 3KW at the wall.

For customers who have already placed orders and are awaiting delivery, our priority is to ensure on-time delivery of your machines so you can immediately start seeing ROI. I am therefore very pleased to report that we will meet our original delivery schedule and provide all customers with on-time delivery.

For customers receiving units before October, we will adjust the price of your machines consistent with the 4.5TH/s +- 5% hash rate. Compensation will be based on preserving the $/GH ratio of the original deal. Starting in October, we will compensate you for the differential in hashing power according to each customer's preference. We will contact each and every one of you over the next few weeks to discuss your preferred method of compensation.

As always, we are at your disposal for any questions or inquiries.

We sincerely appreciate your loyalty and support as we continue to develop the world’s best mining products and services.

Best Regards,

Guy Corem

CEO

Please correct me if I am wrong but you guys promised 6TH +/- 10% and 2500W Nominal Power Consumption?
