What is GammaDEX?

GammaDEX is an advanced decentralized token exchange built on the Ethereum platform. Our development team draws from over three decades of experience building financial systems. GammaDEX is built entirely from the ground up as a drop-in replacement for the EtherDelta UI, with a focus on security, accuracy of market data and crucially user experience.

What is the relationship between GammaDEX and EtherDelta?

Aside from a minor facelift in July, the EtherDelta UI has fundamentally remained the same since it's launch in Feb 2017 - unintuitive and unfriendly.

The GammaDEX UI and backend provide a next generation interface around the EtherDelta smart contract. We've improved upon many areas: from speed and stability, to protection against fat finger mistakes and wallet security, whilst adding brand new powerful features such as the ability to see your entire EtherDelta/ForkDelta trade history or view all your token balances on one page.

The EtherDelta Smart Contract runs on the Ethereum blockchain, holds your Ether and Token balances and allows you to exchange them with other users. This remains the same regardless of whether you use GammaDEX, EtherDelta or ForkDelta - furthermore you can freely switch between them using the same wallet! Orders created in GammaDEX are automatically sent to EtherDelta and ForkDelta, improving the chances of your order being filled.

Our aim is to become the preferred front end for EtherDelta traders

The main complaints we hear about EtherDelta and ForkDelta are the poor user interface, which historically led to expensive mistakes where trader's inverted the price and amount. These fat fingers were quickly swallowed up by bots. Aside from the clunky UX, ForkDelta also suffers from order book lag, so when you try to trade at the best bid/offer you get an error "Somebody has already traded this order".

Both EtherDelta and ForkDelta also lack some basic features: 1) View all your balances on one page, 2) View and download your entire trade, deposit and withdrawal history (currently you just see the last few days).

That said, the EtherDelta smart contract has proven itself rock solid and secure over the past 1.5 years. Only the private key owner has access to their funds in the smart contract. Cases of stolen or hacked funds have usually been the result of phishing attacks where the private key has been compromised, e.g. the user visits a fake website.

Security of your wallet is essential, always use MetaMask to authorize your transactions when trading.

Our team have built GammaDEX on top of the EtherDelta smart contract. You can use the same wallet for trading and freely move between GammaDEX, ForkDelta and EtherDelta. GammaDEX combines orders from all three sources and relays new orders back to FD and ED automatically. This increases the liquidity pool and improves the chances of your order being filled.

Some features GammaDEX adds to EtherDelta:

• My Balances - View all your wallet and exchange balances (tokens and ETH) on one page. This is a great way to see tokens you didn't know you had, e.g. airdrops.
• My History - You can view and export your entire trade and funding history from the very first deposit made to the ED smart contract, through to the most recent trade.
• Up-to-date Order Books - We constantly refresh our order books from the blockchain, reducing the possibility of seeing stale orders. If you see an order in GammaDEX it's tradable.
