they can't reduce coin supply since all the coins are spoken for.  Beside, market cap is really the important indicator.

off top of my head, here are some desirable features in my ideal cryptocurrency:

* fast processing time, in order of micro seconds
* anonymity built-in
* user-friendly wallet with offline transaction signing capability
* built for a targeted useful application segments
* active developer relation mgt.
* setup for easy integration with fiat world
