It wont be a good idea to do a decentralised social media platform because the market has already
reached a saturation level with these kind of decentralised social media stuffs. Recently I came across a similar project called
empowr. Here is the link http://www.empowr.com. You can check this if you want.

Thanks, i'll check empowr out! I think there is definitely a space for the social platform i'm trying to create, mainly because I'm aiming it towards the mass market, users won't have to know anything about crypto or blockchain technology in order to use it. They'll understand that their data is safe and encrypted and they'll easily be able to earn and trade the platforms native cryptocurrency with the easy to use wallet i want to integrate into the app.

There will also be some unique mental health and wellbeing features integrated which hasn't been done with the other dapps that are currently out there!

i suggestion you take a look at https://app.hilo.io/app/dashboard

you don't want to do thing that's already been created

Thanks for sharing! Hilo is social platform for crypto enthusiasts to connect etc, the social platform i'm trying to create would be closer to Facebook

I think there is already a project like this one you are creating, you might wanna take a look at the SWIPEcrypto. Someone above had offer you maybe working together making your project better and chose which platform. Hope you can make this project better than facebook.

I haven't heard of SWIPEcrypto before, Thanks for mentioning it!!

Hello!

My name is Olly I’m 19 and just recently finished school (A-Levels) in July. I've been interested in Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain Technology ever since I first came across Bitcoin in early 2016, what a ride it has been over the past 2 years!

Having decided university wouldn't be for me since I knew from an early age I always wanted to go into business, I’ve been dabbling in various cryptocurrency related projects over the past 2 years which have ranged from day trading, to bitcoin ATMs to a small mining operation!

Over the past year I’ve fine tuning my idea: A decentralised social media platform paired with its own cryptocurrency, packaged into a user-friendly app, with added benefits to the user such as reward per contribution and data control.

I’ve written a whitepaper basically documenting how it works, why we need it and what features to expect and a few wireframes for the app giving people a visual representation of what it is I’m building. I’m now looking for other likeminded individuals who are looking to join ‘the next big thing’.

I’m looking for anyone interested, whether that be coders, app developers, investors or advisers. I’m looking to build an app, basically giving investors and users some basic visuals of how the app would work and what they can do with it.

So, if you want to be part of something bigger than yourselves don’t hesitate to contact me!
I’m based in the UK, but happy to Facetime/Skype/Message/Email whatever suits you!

Hi Olly, have you been thinking also about attracting financing for your project - ICO maybe?

Best regards,
Janis

Hi Janis,

Yes I do want to hold an ICO at some stage, however, at this current time I'm looking for seed funding to build and develop a prototype app

It's good to see some enthusiasm and thinking away from speculations at the price, congratulations.

Over the past year I’ve fine tuning my idea: A decentralised social media platform paired with its own cryptocurrency, packaged into a user-friendly app, with added benefits to the user such as reward per contribution and data control.
You have the idea, the motivation and the time to implement it.
If you do not do something or make some hard work, "a plan of action, a primitive design of the idea" will be just an idea and no one will support you.
It's easy to think of a great mess but it's hard to get started.

I’ve written a whitepaper basically documenting how it works, why we need it and what features to expect and a few wireframes for the app giving people a visual representation of what it is I’m building. I’m now looking for other likeminded individuals who are looking to join ‘the next big thing’.
Can you share more information? Or some general details.

Thanks for the feedback! I do appreciate it! In regards to the whitepaper i'm not ready to share it with the world just yet, but there is a website in development which should be completed soon! I've also had some wireframes created which are ready to be developed into the prototype app, i'm in talks with a few companies that could develop the app for an equity stake in the company and take on the CTO role. However, this is the second best option as ideally i'd love to find someone with a technical background that could get behind my vision and join the business who'd be able to create the prototype app so that we wouldn't have to outsource it to a third party. I'm still looking for a technical cofounder and anyone else interested in joining and taking part in building something world changing!

I hope you understand that social medias like fb, twitter, vk and etc have deep seeds in it. And the news that fb plans to create it's own token or currency decreases opponents' chances. Also please can you explain me benefits of decentralyzed social media? In decentralyzed do you mean blockchain based social media?
Personally I can't see any dramatic or even slight benefit, would be glad if you tell me why do we need it because there may be others who thinks like me.

Of Course! I didn't know how much detail to post initially. hence the little detail.

People want to use Facebook, Twitter and the various other social media networks/platforms that are out there, they use these platforms for several reasons, such as staying connected to friends and family to keeping up-to-date with the news. These services are offered free to users, in exchange they analyse and track everything you do, post, message, like etc, this data is then fed into complex algorithms which workout what you may be interested in, which is then used to target you with relevant adverts.

The Cambridge Analytica scandal that arose last year, shun a light on this, opening user’s eyes to the fact that these huge corporations not only own all the data you upload but how easy it is to create a digital version of you which again is ultimately used/sold to businesses to target you with adverts.

What I’m trying to build is a social network that decentralises user’s data, this means that users can connect with their friends and family, very much like they do now with Facebook, but with one big difference, their data remains safe and untouched. Users can however, choose to monetise their data, if they don't mind certain bits of data to be seen or used by advertisers or are specifically interested in seeing adverts about 'laptops' for example, they are able to specify this option. I want to allow them to choose and enable their own adverts. As a reward for seeing ads they receive some of our own cryptocurrency every time an advertiser targets them. It's a win win for both parties. The user can monetise their data and see adverts that are actually more personal and relevant to them and advertisers gain access to users that have specified specific things that they are actually interested in.

So... a decentralised social media platform brings about many benefits, the biggest being, data control. What does this mean? It means that users data will be placed onto to our native blockchain, this proves that as a business we are being honest as we can't even see the data and restores faith in users as they know that their data is protected, safe and not abused. It also brings confidence to the user because if they choose to use the platform ad free, they know that they data is secure and not being looked at because their data is encrypted and locked.

Obviously decentralisation ins't the only USP, as i've got a few mental health, wellbeing, experiance sharing features that I'd also integrate into the app.

FYI, there are several projects which already try to do the same thing that you want, such as Enlte. They did an ICO and raised a lot of money, but I personally think the app is still not user-friendly and easy to use. You probably want to check it out and compare what should be fixed and add to your app.

I haven't come across Enlte before, I'll be sure to check it out! Thanks for the feedback!
