1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How many LTC do you have frozen in [Vircurex]? Have they been unfrozen yet? on: March 26, 2014, 07:01:04 PM
More than 100 frozen, not much hope of getting them back either.
This kind of thing will kill cryptocurrency, and maybe that's the ultimate objective here in view of recent events.
I see oldtimers at this forum talking about coldwallets and private keys and shit...what they don't seem to realize is that the average joe doesn't want to deal with all that.
If someone decides to try bitcoin to buy some stuff online they will use the simplest method available. They will use an Exchange and every once in a while  they will have surprises like this....and they won't come back, or maybe they will just hear about this kind of stuff and never even try it in the first place.
My will as a small time investor is to convert all that i have on other exchanges back to fiat and hide it under the mattress.
I don't see much difference between this mtgox vircurex whatever shenanigans and the corrupt establishment on the banking and financial sector....and at least there i can take some legal action or just wait for my bank manager to step out of  the office and kick is ass...

The average joe keeps all of his money in the bank. Remember that. It is just how the markets work. You have smart ones and dumb ones.

That may be...the problem is we need the average joe.
If we want mass adoption that is.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If the US government turns their Bitcoin miner to quantum we're all screwed on: February 15, 2014, 09:56:47 AM
Quantum computers are not yet a reality for the U.S government, or for any other government.
