2  Local / India / Re: Looking for a P2P trade in India on: May 24, 2022, 05:06:41 AM
I see no interest in the community. I am relatively new to the P2P space (using WazirX earlier), what are the best places to get P2P trade done in India without any KYC?
3  Local / India / Crypto Taxation in India on: May 21, 2022, 09:23:08 AM
I understand the 30% capital gains tax but what would be the tax structure for people working in freelancing roles/consultants and getting paid in crypto? Do we have any guidelines/clarity on this?
4  Local / India / Looking for a P2P trade in India on: May 21, 2022, 09:20:04 AM
Hi, using this portal as I am not left with any options. I am looking to close a P2P trade in India, Bangalore. Real-time transaction and I can come down to a mutually agreed place. I can pay in any of the cryptos that the trader wants - can take the amount in UPI.

Looking for trustworthy folks - having a +ve trust score helps.

On the conversion rates: I will give a discount of 1% on the INR/USDT/other crypto priced from the last transaction on WazirX/CoinDCX.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and yield farming on: March 13, 2022, 05:36:31 PM
Generally, I would be very careful who I give the custody of my BTC to. More precisely, I wouldn't give it to anyone. I especially don't like hearing numbers such as 700% returns on investment and similar 'promises' and 'guarantees'.

It is not exactly giving up custody, it is locking up your BTCB (a mirror of BTC on BSC) and getting ibBTCB (interest-bearing BTCB). I did some research as well and the crazy returns are coming from the leverage traders who use this capital and pay interest on it.

The defi platform is not decentralized at all.

Did you go through the contracts? Can you highlight the concern? I don't have technical understanding and hence would appreciate if you can list your concerns from the smart contract.

That APY is definitely unsustainable, and will most likely hugely drop as more BTCB gets deposited.

Not to mention that this seems to be a very unpopular BSC platform. Totally not worth risking at all.

Yes, the APY has fallen. Since the last time I checked, someone has deposited close to 100 BTCB and the APY has fallen to 50%.
Why do you say that it is an unpopular exchange?
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin and yield farming on: March 07, 2022, 07:59:58 AM
I am looking to invest some BTC to generate passive yield on my collateral. What are the best techniques and places to invest and generate passive returns on BTC?

Most of the top projects were offering somewhere from 1% to 10% returns on BTC lending.

Although, there was one project in the De-Fi world that piqued my interest. WOWswap, a cross-chain De-Fi leverage lending protocol is offering users to generate 719% APY by lending to their pool.

I did some initial research and was able to understand that:

  • Leverage traders use WOWswap to make leverage (up to 5x) long, short positions in various coins.
  • The liquidity for leveraged trade comes from a liquidity pool where depositors lend their token to the liquidity pool and are rewarded with returns that comes from the transaction fees generated by leveraged traders.
  • Returns on any lending is decided by the pool utilization and the demand for those tokens to trade.

Currently, BTC has 719% APY (https://wowswap.io/earn) which makes it a very attractive proposition to lend especially in the current volatile markets.

Has anyone tried using their lending option to earn returns? Do let me know your thoughts around this protocol or if there are any other better investment opportunities to earn passively in BTC.
7  Local / India / Congratulations and Thank you to each and every active member on this board on: August 24, 2019, 06:01:18 PM
I made my account almost a year back and believe me that the Indian board was in complete tatters. Only shit posting and all sorts of scam. We have a vibrant community of blockchain enthusiasts yet the activity on our local board was non-existent. It makes me really happy to see the amount of progress we have made when I compare our position to last year. We are yet to get the sort of activity that other local boards have but we are slowly turning around. We are having discussions about blockchain and other trade activities relating to crypto (though I would have loved to see more technicals discussions). Also, the merit activity and reporting of shit have been on a good level. I see so many new posters ranking up the ladder of the forum.

Congratulations to everyone who has contributed and keep up the good work.
8  Local / India / Re: MERIT FOR INDIA SUB on: August 21, 2019, 02:23:16 AM
I have some Merits left to give out as well. I am looking for people in the Indian board (active posters) who have less than 10 merits. I am looking for quality posters who are yet to achieve the Member rank.

That could be me. I have 8 I think. Although  I am not active on this forum, let alone the Indian section. I'd love to rank up my account and contribute here more often.

And I'd appreciate if you could highlight this topic here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2062192.0

I just signed and I see the issue still exists.

Congrats, you just ranked up. Looking forward to having you actively participate on the Indian board.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Since 2018, what did you contribute to prevent signature ads removed globally? on: August 15, 2019, 05:11:21 PM
I am one of those users who came in after the new Merit system and understand the pros and cons of the system. The new system will definitely do wonders for bettering the forum in terms of shit post and signature spams.

The only bone of contention comes from users that were airdropped the merits on the basis of their existing rank. They are the only people in my opinion who would still be posting sig spam. They had not earned those merits and what the forum can do is that they can have the airdropped merits removed now because we have had ample time to earn merits by posting quality posts and proving our initially held rank. Why give them a favour of having a Legendary/Hero rank and qualifying for highly paid signature campaigns without earning the right by getting merits through their posts? Or we can reduce their airdropped merits in some proportion that can be calculated by using the current post/merit earned of that user. This would ensure that their previous effort (when meriting a post was not so prevalent) is duely appreciated in merit calculation.

11  Local / India / Re: V. G. Siddhartha - CCD founder Dead - Could Crypto have saved him? on: August 03, 2019, 07:27:46 AM
However, I too feel that the topic doesn't belong here. I would have been better if posted in Off-topic (India)

It is good to know that posts (in the local board) will not be counted. But the question remains that why is a Hero member (who is supposed to be quite knowledgeable) asking such a stupid question?
Either, he does not understand how the real world works or is blindly trying to bring cryptocurrency into everything that he reads about.

As far as the death of VGS is concerned it is quite sad and shocking to hear. But he was pursuing a business model that was going to crack. A few years back, I (and my friends) had planned to kick start a mobile gourmet coffee chain in India. After extensive research on the coffee market, we were not able to justify the unit economics involved in the coffee business. And this was sans the huge fixed cost that Cafe coffee day incurs. So, the business model was never going to sustain the way he expanded the entire network. Some outlets might have turned profitable but a majority of them were loss-making units and this was confirmed by their ground staff. He did this on money raised by debt and the backing of his family wealth. Also, he was involved in money laundering activities. The thing with raising PE funds and debt is that you come under a huge obligation to make a profit to these firms (the clauses are made such). He could not pay off the money and hence decided to end his life.

The entire story is very saddening and I hope that we have mental health and wellness introduced in our school curriculums at a very early stage. Our society is such that we only praise success and loath failure. It is the success at any cost mantra that leads to such events.
12  Other / Meta / Re: MERIT SOURCE AND MODS NEEDED FOR INDIAN BOARD on: July 18, 2019, 12:23:17 PM
But did you have to bump an eight month old thread for this??? You know you can start your own thread right....and those users mentioned are doing a tremendous job for themselves around the forum but without doubt am certain they know the procedure to follow when they are interested in becoming a merit source.
Is that a wrong thing to do? I was going through the regional thread and wanted to see more rewards for creating threads in local threads. My query and the point raised was not addressed, so thought of bringing it back to the front.

Quote
Nominate? Sounding like a government man right about now, merit sources are not nominated here, they apply for the job! Want to know more about this follow the link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0 YOU ARE WELCOME.

Yeah, it is worse than the government. They are arbitrarily chosen by the admin.

When people apply for Smerit, users of the forum generally support the user in the form of their affirmation in the thread. So in a way, they are nominating him or showing their support for his application.
13  Other / Meta / Re: MERIT SOURCE AND MODS NEEDED FOR INDIAN BOARD on: July 18, 2019, 08:27:08 AM
I think Bitlover10, welovedcrypto and a few other members are doing a wonderful job at the regional language section of the Indian board. Can we have them nominated for Merit source? Heisenberg_Hunter is also active on the India board but I am not sure if he understands Hindi. The forum needs to pay focus to the needs of 1.3 billion. Majority of the Indians are currently into buying and selling crypto for a profit. If we want to propagate the real benefits of blockchain, we need materials in Hindi. Bitlover10 has initiated a beautiful campaign and more support needs to be provided.
14  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Received more cryptocurrencies than I should on: July 18, 2019, 08:15:59 AM
Will update if I get back my funds.

So, I received my funds back. The exchange took a 15 USD fee for the recovery of funds, which I think is fair. My holding has already taken a hit of close to 40% because of the massive fall in XLM prices from USD 0.13 to USD 0.08. But it feels good to have my amount back. Thanks a lot to the WazirX team which refunded me the XLM's back.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Trump did a big service to the Blockchain community! on: July 17, 2019, 01:52:09 PM
While many of the folks here are targeting Trump for putting out his negative stance about the Blockchain initiative and Bitcoins, I wholeheartedly appreciate his move. It might have led to a sudden decrease in the price but it will give a major boost to the global adoption of BTC that we are aiming for. The US presidents tweets are read and covered around the globe and there was quite a lot of media coverage given to the Blockchain and cryptocurrency community. Also, the entire Libra episode is also playing out, giving much more limelight to this space. While the reports and coverage are largely negative and critical but I believe that in due time people will start reading about it and will soon realize the benefits of a decentralized network. Negative press is better than no press.
16  Other / Archival / Re: will the paki christian die for having dared to drink in a muslim weel? on: July 17, 2019, 12:49:10 PM
No I am paki and Christian are enjoying equal rights in much of the areas of Pakistan.
Which part of your name suggests that you are a Christian? Haseeb or Ahmed Roll Eyes I have been able to achieve the impossible. I was able to get a Muslim to convert to Christianity just to justify the Pakistani atrocities on the minority.

Quote
I admit it some people faced difficulties but not because of governmen, it happened because of illiteracy and personal grudges and those people use name of religion just to save themselves. But it’s not state policies like happening in occupied Kashmir or Myanmar against Muslims .

Firstly, don't quote what other countries are doing to justify your actions. Two wrongs don't make a Right.

Secondly, what is happening in Kashmir or Myanmar is totally different from what is happening in Pakistan. Until the 15th century, Kashmir used to be a Hindu and Buddhist society which fell into the Islamic rule and gradually people converted to Islam. They followed the Sufi (BTW they are persecuted in Pakistan) sect of Islam which was a peaceful interpretation and lived harmoniously with the Hindu population. Until the last 30-40 years, there was never a problem in Kashmir. After Pakistan identified that they could never beat India in conventional warfare they adopted proxy war where they infiltrated the madarsas and other institutions and fanned Wahabi Islam by targeting the young minds of the valley. They smuggled weapons, illegal money into the state and the separation movement was agitated. While there were some errors by the Indian authority but it was largely the Wahabi Sunni Islamism that fanned the violence in the region. It is the mindset that if the Muslims are in Majority in a region they want a separate country and that what they are trying to achieve all around the world. Where they are in minority they will fight and if they become the majority they will impose their beliefs on what they call as KAFIRS (ready to take the path of violence for it).

Also, tell me something. India has a whole lot of other minorities living inside its border. Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Parsis, Jews and a lot more. I have not heard any other minority group saying they are threatened in the country. Why is it that only Muslims have a problem where they are in a sizeable minority. Because they are not ready to accept the traditions of the land they live in. They think that they will move to Sweden and make them change their laws according to Islam. Not happening bro!
17  Other / Archival / Re: will the paki christian die for having dared to drink in a muslim weel? on: July 17, 2019, 06:22:12 AM
So you are talking about the ground reality in Pakistan, so tell me one thing are you living in Pakistan ?
If you are not living in Pakistan then these articles may not show you the exact ground reality.

Believe me, even if you paid me like 100 BTC, I would never dare to live in Pakistan. Hope you enjoy your stay.

We can totally agree that articles may have a certain bias and can be written with propaganda. But how will you justify the census reports that are released by Pakistani government? How will justify the fleeing of thousands of Hindus and Sikhs and taking refuge in India? How will you take into account that many Hindu girls are forcibly married and converted in Pakistan? How will you justify the riots and killings of Christians, Ahmedis and Shias by the jihadi extremists who are dead set on declaring others as "KAFIRS"?
18  Other / Archival / Re: will the paki christian die for having dared to drink in a muslim weel? on: July 16, 2019, 08:55:40 AM
Unfortunately the ground reality in Pakistan is different than it is projected by the international media. Pakistan is a Muslim country and they protect the right of the non-believers more than anywhere in the world. You cannot call everyone cruel only on the basis of few evil minded people.

The ground reality is far worse my friend. You might be living in a bubble. Let me burst it for you.

Various minority factions that once lived in Pakistan have been systematically cleansed or forcibly converted to Islam. The situation is dire for many religious minorities who have been fleeing from Pakistan and taking refuge in the neighbouring countries. Of late, the majority of Muslims are not just targeting Hindus & Sikhs, but there has been increased rioting with Christians, Shias, Ahmedis and other minorities.

Linking some international reports to understand the plight of minorities in Pakistan.

19  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Career path and detours on: July 15, 2019, 03:23:21 AM

I'm of the believe that a career path should not be rigid, one is free to take detours when it appears necessary. The 'rest if your life's is a long time, and do mot be afraid to return to school, get a second degree, take up that passion.

Absolutely. I want to try up as many avenues as possible. I like business management, entrepreneurship, analytics and a lot more. Often, I have heard people telling me to focus on one aspect and ignore the others. I beg to differ. Life is too short and we should allow our work to explore the various possibilities in life. Though job hunting is quite taxing and it can soon drain out your zest to explore a possibility that is a culmination of all that you love. But don't quit on the search and keep looking for what you love doing.
20  Other / Politics & Society / Kim Darroch sent back to home!! on: July 11, 2019, 06:36:47 AM
It was a hugely embarrassing moment for the United Kingdom following the leak of secret cables where the UK ambassador to the US calls the Trump administration as “incompetent” and “insecure”. This comes at a time when Britain is looking around the world for lucrative trade deals and needs its biggest ally (US) by its side. Trump would never forgive this and blasted the Ambassador along with the outgoing PM May.

The Ambassador made the fundamental error when it comes to the art of diplomacy. Keep your personal feelings away from the official work. Your mistake can cost the entire nation to pay for it. Trump has now got an extra point to bash Britain administration and it will surely come up in their future discourse.

P.S. With Trump at the helm, Twitter is far more exciting. You never know what he dishes out the next time.  Grin
