1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: May 02, 2020, 02:25:48 PM
On the 18th there was a solo miner on bsod getting blocks and renting from nicehash, 175 btcv a block at the time I think was 12k usd maybe more. It’s a huge risk because the dev will 51% attack and orphan all blocks, they were probably sleeping at the time cause blocks were confirming. Dev pool had about 2 Ehs at the time.

One of the pps pool joins the party because blocks are confirming, at the starts they started paying around 0.00004000 a ths. Now everyone is renting from NiceHash, and the pps started to increase. At one point, I saw it very high around 0.00011000. When the pps value was 0.00009500, nice hash was around 0.089.
Between the two pools, they had about 3-4 Ehs and was harder for dev to attack.

On the 23rd the pool operator and several individual miners stated their account got locked at coineal. Now, no one is renting because of exchange issues. Hash rate was too low and with the exchange issues, they took the pool offline. Took 2 days, but dev made a false claims about fraudulent activity. After the exchange investigated they released the funds.

Shortly after, btcv did their ddms hard fork and exchange closed deposit during the fork.
Party is over lol..

The high price was because of shitcoin btcv. People were mining this coin, paying high prices and still making a profit. Everyone was dumping this coin on coineal and liquid exchange.

Btcv dev didn’t like this and made changes so only certain address could mine lol.

Grace is legit. I bought plenty of miners from her and had them shipped to the US.

Why aren’t you guys doing this on Kano pool?   Absolutely nothing against ck but at least on Kano solo pool you can get some reward back if it hits a block.  Plus it’s sitting on 15 peta for help to find block.  Yes your gonna give up some on the first one.  It’s the second one where you can all possibly come out ahead.  Just a thought.  Here your guaranteed nothing if you don’t hit a block.

Learning to manage risk.  Had to after being burnt in this endeavor.  Live and learn!

You can’t use any rentals on his pool, he blocks all rentals.

Maybe try using a USB hub, mine would not even start if plugged directly to my PC.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: August 19, 2019, 04:42:14 PM
I’m using a cheap windows 10 notebook and was having issues too. I plugged the r606 directly to my notebook and my WiFi/Bluetooth would shut off lol. Bought a gekko usb hub and problems solved.

Also, I tested a notebook cooler on the spare usb (notebook) and my hash went from 1ths to 300ghs.
Plugged the cooler to the gekko science hub and it’s back to 1ths. The usb hub solved all my issues.
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 750GH (up to 1TH) quiet miner, now shipping on: August 14, 2019, 02:07:58 PM
philipma1957, put me in your drawing. Bought one recently from Minersupply.
Thanks!

Any recommended replacement fan, like stock or even something a little more quiet?

DGB will be replacing myr-groestl with odocrypt in July, one less coin to mine. XVG will see majority of the hash after the fork.

Yep, mine was stuck at 200ghs for like 2 days. Actually, all 3 was having low hash and started at the same time.
Been good for a few days now.

What pool are you mining on? May need to switch because I’m nowhere near $27 a day
