1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Monero blockchain bootstrap on: November 17, 2018, 02:35:43 PM
Hi!
I'm trying to set up a monero node, but switched to bootstrapping using monero-blockchain-import because p2p was slow, but this seems to be even slower than downloading it p2p. Moreover, it crashes every x hours. Does anyone else have this issue? Just reverted to p2p again, but I think it'll take another week..  Cry.

2  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: HARDWARE WALLET on: November 17, 2018, 11:29:57 AM
It is possible to safely store your assets in a software wallet, but it depends on (1) the software that you use and (2) the device that you run the software on. Hardware wallets take care of both these things An easy and cheaper alternative might be storing them on your phone. Smartphones have reasonably secure hardware and if using open source wallet software you have some assurenaces about the trustworthiness of the software as well.
Hope this helps.

I use KeePass. It's open source and passwords are only stored locally (unless you store them yourself somewhere else..). Can't live without it anymore.
