Is a decentralized exchange comes under smart contracts?

A decentralized exchange is a possibility once smart contracts are added. I don't want to get too ahead of ourselves though, for now we're focusing on SMS integration since we have a unique opportunity with that.

Hey guys, we're hard at work on the Enigma implementation and everything is right on schedule. I will say that September 28 is a tentative release date for the Pesa client with Enigma. Between now and then, we will be working on organizing a robust social media campaign to make sure everyone knows about our shiny new features Smiley

The discussions over the thread have drastically lowered since the irc chats.

I don't think that's true.  Flunkie and Max post just as much now as they did before IRC.  Having a Q&A is much more efficient in IRC or Skype.

Fine.

For anyone that doesn't want to participate in the Skype group I will try to post important information here.

The highlights from our chats will be compiled and posted here, either by myself, JakeThePanda, and anticlimax. For all intents and purposes, the three of us can be considered thread admins.

Pesa - Plans and Ideas

Twitter

To start off the twitter campaign, we’re going to go with another giveaway. Since the last one was attempted amidst the syncing troubles of the version 1.0 wallet, we think it appropriate that we do a full and uninterrupted giveaway to make up for it. The funds will come from the community donations, as well as some of my personal holdings.

In addition to a Pesa giveaway, I’d like to incorporate some type of contest with a large Pesa prize for the winner. Possibly a twitter contest where the winner is decided by seeing who can get the most retweets/favorites for a Pesa related tweet in a certain amount of time. That is my idea, although I’m sure the community will have others.

Another option is to sponsor certain Twitter users to consistently tweet about Pesa. These users will be rewarded with Pesa depending on how popular their tweets are, and whether they create new interest in the project. This may go hand in hand with a type of referral system, where users are rewarded in Pesa for bringing new members to the community on Bitcointalk.org or the IRC channel.

It has also been proposed that prior to any further organized Twitter campaigns, we first implement a Pesa branding overhaul, and use the Twitter campaign as vessel for the new and aesthetically improved Pesa.

Branding

There has been some support shown in the forum for a Pesa rebranding, along with a website revamp. The website is a feasible goal, and we’ve started working on some designs for an updated site. A full rebranding has the possibility to be detrimental (for example, if we change the logo, exchanges and other services might not all be switched at the same time, causing confusion) However, it is really up to the community. If there is enough support for a new logo, then we will deliver a new logo.

One possibility is that we vote on the type and extent of the rebranding. One way to accomplish this is to incorporate a standard survey-styled voting process, using a third party service, to determine which course of action is the most popular. Another option is to emulate the crowd-funding inspired smart contract system that we are working on for Pesa. To do this, we would just set up a number of Pesa addresses, each labeled with a different course of action, and whichever gets the most funding is the one that is chosen.

These are my two ideas, but any others are welcome for discussion in the thread, or during one of our IRC sessions.

IRC

The Pesa IRC channel was a great idea that was put together by ‘anticlimax’, a longtime supporter of Pesa. To date, we have had one formal Q&A session, as well as a few other informal chats amongst community members. It has been proposed that we can set up a weekly or twice-weekly time slot to do formal discussions on the irc channel about Pesa, with me and the other team members.

Before I assign an arbitrary time to do this, however, I’d like to see what the community thinks is an optimal time. As far as my personal schedule goes, Tuesday’s, Thursdays, and the weekends are when I am the least busy with classes and such.

Another IRC development is the possible incorporation of an IRC tip bot. JakeThePanda pointed out that most well established and successful coins have a large number of participants in their respective IRC channels. A tip bot might bring more interest in our channel by providing a new layer of interactivity between members. With a tip bot we can organize IRC-based games, betting, transaction-related proposals, and increase the general sociability of the community.

Skype

A Skype chat group was proposed by JakeThePanda, and I think that this is a great idea. Like the IRC channel, it gives us an opportunity to communicate as a community on a more frequent and personal basis. The advantage to Skype is that it works very well on mobile, and I will be able to respond to it at almost any time, versus only when I’m at a computer.

All of the above is open for comment and discussion, as well as revision, by the community. This is the rough roadmap/proposal for the next steps of Pesa's social framework. I'd like to get a discussion going about these aspects in the time until Enigma is implemented.

Hey guys,

Right now I'm finishing up the plan for the upcoming Twitter campaign, to see if we can get some buzz going for Pesa, and bring some new people into the community. I'll be posting that as a .doc today or tomorrow.

As for the website, we are working on a more robust and informational design, and we'd love to hear your thoughts as to what should be included. Right now we're thinking specifications, obviously, how you can get involved, and a contact form in case anyone who is not familiar with the thread wants to contact us.

Let me know what you guys think.
The last giveaway in twitter was not completed

Did you personally get left out? I think I've gotten to everybody. If not, just pm me your address Smiley

Also, I decided to incorporate IRC and Branding into the document regarding the Pesa Twitter campaign, making more of a general proposal for the developments of Pesa's social platforms.

Whats so special about ENIGMA?
Could you brief some technicalities.
Just don't ignore my posts as usual.
Try answering some sane questions atleast devs.

Which question was ignored?
I was telling about my posts and not questions.
Also as a mini bag holder am losing my patience now and then when i come across some cryptos with some innovative cutting edge features being delivered and the developers are all along with the community providing good hope.
Do you know anything about Enigma apart form that quoted in the white paper?

Which cryptos do you mean? I'd love to take a look and see if there anything we can emulate or expand upon that other coins have already successfully implemented.

Enigma will be closed source, similar to (I think) all other anon implementations in other coins so far. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Now, for specific features, Enigma will be based upon a multipath transaction structure. What that means is that each transaction or message will be broken down into smaller parts, then encrypted, then sent over the Pesa network. The encryption guarantees that any intercepted packages will be protected, and the multipath structure adds another layer to the mixing service that was outlined in the white paper (I'm assuming most here are at least somewhat familiar with coin mixing, it's been around for a while).

All anonymous transactions will have the option to be encrypted end-to-end, meaning that the only way to decrypt a transaction or message is to be the intended recipient, and for the transaction to have arrived to an official Pesa client.

As an additional layer of anonymity, these encrypted, multipath transactions will optionally be sent over the Tor network, further obscuring the sender's IP.

This will be the core functionality of Enigma, but it has been built to be easily extensible to account for the incorporation of future improvements and features. It is also completely original, meaning we did not borrow the code from a currently active coin or project. We hope that this makes Pesa as a whole a bit more desirable.

Hey everyone,

For those of you who haven't been in IRC the last couple times, here's a quick update as to what is happening behind the scenes:

  • Enigma is ready for implementation into the Pesa source code. We should have a stable build within 3 weeks, and possibly pre-release builds before that.
  • The Pesa team is attempting to get a spot on the Casheer App, and the community can help out by tweeting about @CasheerApp and @PesaCrypto, as well as participating in the discussion on the CasheerApp forum. You can check that out here: http://forum.casheer.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=151
  • We're putting together another Twitter campaign, this time with bigger giveaways and more outreach. If you think you have an idea that relates to this or will improve the campaign, feel free to voice it.
  • whive has shown interest in contributing to the advancement of Pesa on a global scale, namely through the incorporation of SMS technology into Pesa. We're really excited about this, as you can imagine.
I think that about sums it up, if I forgot anything, just let me know below Smiley

Alex or Max,

Put the IRC in the OP.

Doing it now.

Hey Guys,

It was great chatting with Pesa Advocates last week Smiley, I will share a concept proposal with flunkie on the following by end week.

PesaCash: Pesa as the Worlds fast default crypto currency compatible with Mobile Network Operator standards.
PesaSMS: Sending Pesa over an SMS gateway using GSM Mobile Numbers as Aliases.
PesaMarket: Market for Digital Goods(think itunes over SMS) this is already a billion dollar industry in Asia/Africa.
PesaFaucet: JakeThePanda seriously needs a faucet  Grin
PesaWallet: Pesa Wallet on Android/S40/ translated to at least Swahili, Arabic, French.

The idea is to get PesaDev to review some of these ideas and see if they can be layered on top of his upcoming Smart Contract and Enigma platforms.

Also I am a newbie in Crypto but I have to ask is it possible to reduce the Pesa Blocktime to between 30-40Secs  Huh

Lastly I really like ShadowCoin we should benchmark Pesa on Shadow's Quality and I think DarkCoin's market cap will be in sight in a few months. Cool

My 2 Pesas

Really looking forward to working with whive, especially on PesaSMS. This type of community voicing of ideas is exactly what we had in mind from the outset of this project.

Looking good. It seems that the .conf fix is working nicely so far Smiley

In order to increase the security of the network and to reduce the amount of people getting temporarily stranded on the wrong chain, we need those of you in the community who have a large holding of Pesa to enter "connect=173.255.114.193" into your wallet .conf file. Others who are having issues, or would like to ensure you are always on the right chain, insert "addnode=173.255.114.193" into the .conf file.

Edit: Eventually this issue will correct itself as long as enough of the total coins are staking on the correct chain.

As requested, here is the new irc channel.

#pesacrypto

www.kiwiirc.com

Very nice. We'll add it to the OP

Edit:

Can you explain if we have any of the key coin features implemented?

Also please get Max to update OP with the new block explorer and irc channel.

Nothing more from keycoin. The choice was arbitrary, we just needed a better foundation that was free of worrisome bugs (Guerrillacoin), and then we added the dynamic interest portion.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PES] Pesa - Anonymous Coin - No Premine - Dynamic Interest - PoStr on: August 28, 2014, 10:38:02 PM
Make sure to tweet about Pesa everyday.
We have a new wallet with dynamic interest based off key coin code, which to me is far superior than many coins out there with 10x our mrkt cap.

Jake, did you fork the coin? Or do we have an anonymous whale lurking in our midst.

I staked last night, but I think I'm on the right chain. Didn't our devs rewrite the dynamic interest code? So why should we mention anything about Keycoin?

This is correct. We only used keycoin code because is was very clean and did not deviate too far from bitcoin source. The dynamic interest portion was all us.

Oh no! Where is your street cred?
Have you tried tweeting at him and rami?

I just messaged him on here. He's usually pretty prompt with his replies.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PES] Pesa - Anonymous Coin - No Premine - Dynamic Interest - PoStr on: August 28, 2014, 05:21:27 PM
From my understanding, yes Bittrex requires an operational block explorer.
LXC didn't have one for a couple days and the community were worried about getting delisted/deactivated.

Ok, I will give it a little more time for the team to get back to me.  I don't want to jump the gun, although I like chainz as well.

Thanks Jake, this is perfect. I wasn't aware Richie needed a working block explorer either, so I would've been much slower to get this thing up and running. We really appreciate it Smiley

So, this means that Bittrex should enable the wallet as soon as the new block explorer is fully updated. We're also looking at targeting a new exchange to work towards getting listed on. We want to hear what you guys think first, though.

Having a block explorer to be on a exchange is one of those need to know things.  Wink
I kind of like having a fresh dev team.. endless possibilities.

Anything we can do to help fill in the gaps of your knowledge, just shout.

Yeah, my crypto knowledge is a bit patchy. It's getting better though!  Smiley Most of the time I ask Max to explain it if I can't figure it out on my own.

Did exactly what I listed above just now, worked like a charm.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PES] Pesa - Anonymous Coin - No Premine - Dynamic Interest - PoStr on: August 28, 2014, 05:05:22 PM
What block are we on?  Chainz stop syncing at 14144.  Huh
Same here  Sad

Run the remove_old_files script (take out your wallet.dat first)

This isn't a problem with the wallet, we think a whale/whale(s) came online on an older fork and disrupted the blockchain. If everyone updates again, we should be good.

According to the dev:

"Someone rich came online and made a lot of stake, the peers he was connected to, updated, but the rest were late and had other blocks of same height
and it was a long fork that confirmed blocks from both forks, and once it confirms, it can't auto correct it"
