Is there a plan to setup some type of NEM ATM?

EMV and PCI compliant ATM's.

I bought some maidsafe way back during the IPO and haven't done anything, but I did find my BTC address on the IPO spreadsheet way back on day 1.  Is the only way to get them to import the private key to the BTC address I used to buy them into Omniwallet?

I don't like the idea of ever touching my private key so I guess I would have to send all my BTC to a newly created wallet before doing this?

I also bought maidsafe at their IPO. When the SAFE network launches, I will exchange the maidsafecoins for safecoins.

Those following the NEM lifestyle might be interested in this book by Jeremy Rifkin.

The Zero Marginal Cost Society: The Internet of Things, the Collaborative Commons, and the Eclipse of Capitalism.

"Mr. Rifkin believes that the Collaborative Commons is a critical part of a bigger story unfolding around the world that
is going to fundamentally alter our global economy in the first half of the 21st century. He argues that a new economic
system-the Collaborative Commons-is entering on to the world stage. It is the first new economic paradigm to take root
since the advent of capitalism in the early nineteenth century. The meteoric rise of this new economic paradigm is coming
at a time when capitalism is under great scrutiny, with lower growth, rising unemployment and greater inequality.

In his book, Mr. Rifkin describes a transformative new technology revolution-the Internet of Things-that enables billions of
people to not only produce and share their music, videos, news, knowledge, and other virtual goods, but now also green
electricity, 3D printed products, and other physical goods at near zero marginal cost, and for nearly free, on a vast global
Collaborative Commons, bypassing the conventional marketplace. A younger generation is also beginning to share cars,
dwellings, clothes, and countless other items and services at low or near zero marginal cost on the burgeoning Collaborative
Commons, wreaking havoc on traditional industries and in the process, changing the very way we organize economic life."

"In The Zero Marginal Cost Society, New York Times bestselling author Jeremy Rifkin describes how the emerging Internet of
Things is speeding us to an era of nearly free goods and services, precipitating the meteoric rise of a global Collaborative
Commons and the eclipse of capitalism."

For the promotion of NEM, he is a good nominee to receive a NEM stake.

Just read a coindesk article about blockchain selling prepaid cards with BTC on them. We could do the same thing with NEM, and it should really help with new users. We could make it as simple and as similiar as redeeming a giftcard. Doesn't seem too difficult to implement. Either make it a scratch-off, or maybe even make it reloadable like a debit card.
Edit: I think scratch-off type would be best to start, the debit card type wouldn't be too useful until brick-and-mortar stores accept it.
We could get real professional cards for less than $1 each http://www.shop.creativecardgroup.com/gift-cards/

It seems like if we want mass adoption, we should use devices such as credit cards that are familiar to most people.

That is a good idea. If we don't have that somewhere in trello you can put it. Once important things are in place I think NEM will start to go full speed again.

For public tasks, maybe this could be used in combination with our Trello board.

I have heard news that Lamassu https://lamassu.is/ is advertising that they can sell open-source (programmable) crypto-currency atms for any currency at $1800 a piece.
When Nem starts to get big it would cost less than 100k to have one atm in every u.s. state.

This is achievable, Dogecoin raised like 48k (correct?) to advertise in a nascar race.

This would be great for Nem infrastructure and publicity.

...Not even Bitcoin has an atm grid like that.

We should put something like this on fund.nemcoin.com.

Tell me what you think...

Open Bitcoin ATM project has a vending kiosk kit for $645.

Hello,
Do you have a waiting list?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: April 26, 2014, 05:49:50 AM
If there are 120 stakes to auction, what about offering 1/10th stakes?
1200 auction blocks of 100,000 NEM with a 1 btc reserve. If it works we will raise >1,200 BTC.
Under the right conditions, it can happen. MaidSafe raised $6 million in just five hours.
Good idea.

+1.. but that sets a stake at 10 btc.. :/ seriously?

If well advertised, I can definitely see it. Many will be from outside the alt coin scene. The auction would need happen outside of the Bitcoin Forum, and on our own website.
There are those who are on the lookout to invest in the next big thing, and if this is it, $5,000 is chump change. Owning one million NEM would be a good opportunity.
At the moment this auction is the only way to acquire it and with only 1,200 openings it will be perceived as rare. +1btc for one of 1,200 spots is relatively "cheap".

To UF:

I saw some of my clients on the refund list.

These are people I know in my personal life and I recommended investing in NEM for them.

I acted as a broker for them because they are not very knowledgeable about crypto or advanced in PC use.

They have already paid me fiat for their stake and were patiently waiting for me to update them on the status of the coin.

They are as follows:

nateM7654
annT78
camaronloco
mich38754
eylucu4531
michaelW8796i

I had already talked to you prior to this to make sure it was ok to act as broker for other people who are not very aware of these forums/crypto coin scene.

And yes I did create an account for each because that's how you stated I should go about investing for them.

Here is your original response:

Quote
Yes that should be the way because your friend represents the new account. So make a new account for him and reserve a stake from that account. You can send NXT from the same address as well (maximum 2 stake per address).

1 NEM share would have > 1 million NEM. So there are many to share. No need to buy a lot of stakes. Thanks for supporting NEM.

Thank you for clearing this up.  I will get to it as soon as possible.

For the greedy it might be good for a while, but they will always lose out in the end. That's my philosophy and experience.

I would give him one additional stake to divide between the six and refund the other five spots. 166,666 NEM (1M/6) each is still a lot.

It's not fair, I had discussed this with UtopianFuture in order to avoid all of these problems.

I did everything transparent to make sure that UF knew I wasn't a scammer, I was just helping other people in my life invest into NEM.

Now I have to refund their money, lose their trust, and even lose money because I bought NXT at a higher price to buy into NEM.

I still see no reply to my post from dev.

I did all of this before I proceded to take people's investment, he assured me it was ok so I was paid fiat by these people.

They get in touch with me almost weekly to keep them updated, now I have to tell them we are being called scammers and give them money + some of my money back.

I have already been scammed out of BTC from other scam/fake coins.

If this doesn't go through, I will stay away from cryptocoins until a real company develops a real working product.

The whole point to crypto was to be decentralized money for the world, but with all the scams and fake accusations like NEM is doing, many people like me will back out and instead wait until a competent company with a real coin and devs shows up. This will inevitably cancel out the revolutionary idea behind cryptos.

It was only a suggestion, and it was overly fair. There is zero activity on your six "friends" accounts and so far they have been no benefit to NEM. Tell your "friends" about the auction.

This is from internet.org

"The goal of Internet.org is to make internet access available to the two thirds of the world who are not yet connected."

and the contact page says

"Join us. If you're working on a project related to connectivity or just want to keep up with Internet.org, let us know."

NEM is a project related to connectivity (economic and secure messaging). Let's join them.

These articles say Facebook might use solar-powered near-orbital drones to deliver the internet to poor countries. If true, it can help get NEM adopted into the unreachable places.
business.financialpost.com/2014/03/04/facebook-titan-aerospace-60-million-deal-would-allow-mark-zuckerberg-to-beam-the-internet-to-poor-countries/
techcrunch.com/2014/03/03/facebook-in-talks-to-acquire-drone-maker-titan-aerospace/

A partnership would be a huge boost for NEM. This is a long shot, but let's think big and add www.internet.org/contact as a future assignment for our NEM swarm.

Update:
Google just bought solar-powered drone maker Titan Aerospace. The acquisition is intended to help the firm's efforts to expand internet access.

If the sock puppets were clever and greedy enough to signup for multiple stakes, then they will do the same in the NEM waiting list.

The new people wanting to join NEM should have additional requirements. Only those that will be beneficial to the NEM community should be offered a full stake. This may not be practical, but here is my thoughts.

Keep a majority of the refunded NEM stakes in escrow. Once the waiting list is closed, for a full buy-in price they can join NEM. By default, they will each receive 1/10th of a stake. If they join the NEM facebook page, they will receive another 10% of a stake. To receive the remaining 80% of a stake, they will need to demonstrate how they helped promote NEM in some way, such as posting a NEM article on a major social platform, donating their NEM, introducing others to NEM, etc. They will have 6 months to do something for NEM, afterwards they forfeit their claim and the remaining NEM will be donated to our development and marketing funds. This should motivate them.

Also, we should set aside several stakes, later to be given to influential people and individuals that are highly connected, like ones with popular blogs/websites/youtube channels.

i like you idea!

perhaps keep some stakes for long term bounties!

like first twitter page to reach x amount of follows by 2015.. by 2015 that stake will be worth allot and people will work their asses off to try and get it! same goes for wallets! stake to dev that creates a the first wallet to have 250,000 unique wallet downloads! first major online retailer to accept nem.

this one would be good! first gold bullion in uk, usa or china to trade gold assets on AE. point of it is.. is people can buy gold with credit card online, by phone or walk in with cash.. they give nem address.. gold assets get assigned to nem acc. then you can trade your gold assets for crypto's!

stake for first company worth 1 million+ to ipo on nem AE.. at first no one will care about this.. but if nem goes up allot in value.. that stake will be worth a fortune and will be a very large incentive to companies!

also a stake for the first multipool to reach a particular total amount of hashes per min/hour/day or what ever! not just for the first multipool.. thats too easy! make it so they have to attract allot of people to the pool before getting the stake!

Excellent! We need to establish more of these bounties. I hope utopianfuture implements your ideas.

Just based on the factor of sustainability, proof-of-work is is not energy efficient. For long term investment I am going with the new coins based on proof-of-stake (NXT and NEM).

I would stay with the 2nd gen. coins and not the clones of bitcoin.
