1  Other / Politics & Society / Devtome: Third-graders with guns. on: May 16, 2014, 04:44:27 AM
It has become clear to me that Devcoin is to ethics as Bitcoin is to economics.

Whether for spiteful indignation or for incorruptible legitimacy, myself, my message, and all of my writing have been excommunicated, banned, and censored from Devtome, the dark-net's proposed solution to the very real problems of information-corruption and testimony-suppression. The only explanation provided to me, is that I was wasting the time of management by publishing things that were inconsistent with their vision for the community.

Guilty as charged.

Since I earnestly believe that an ethical crypto-currency is not only technologically possible, but ultimately inevitable, it is deeply troubling to me what Devtome is doing to undermine public confidence in that ideal. In stark contrast to unthinkingbit, the site's founder, I have the utmost respect and compassion for Devtome writers who refuse to seek or accept a position in management. Moreover, I believe that no one who participates in the administration of Devcoin can be excused for remaining ignorant of the fact that they are supporting a terrorist organization. Those who feel that my position here (which I state as objective fact without personal bias) is unfair are referred to the following quote of the ACLU, whose mission includes "ensuring that civil liberties are enhanced rather than compromised by new advances in science and technology":

"Once you allow the government to censor someone else, you cede to it the power to censor you, or something you like. Censorship is like poison gas: a powerful weapon that can harm you when the wind shifts."

Disclosure in consideration of my audience: I do not endorse or represent the ACLU in any way, but I believe that it is infinitely better than terrorism.

The following is a list of my censored articles with links to their latest revisions prior to deletion, which seem to still be freely accessible on the Devtome archives. The following thread was my public discussion with Devtome administrators, originally prompted by a vague accusation of plagiarism and/or ethical misconduct:

http://coinzen.org/index.php/topic,766.0.html

The following was my personal response to unthinkingbit's final decision:

BEGIN PRIVATE MESSAGE [reproduced here in accordance with fair-use for purposes of protest and criticism]

> I did not see you speak up on the forums, I only read a few threads on coinzen...

It was xeriandros who suggested I discuss my concerns on the Coinzen forums.

> I saw that you attacked at least two admins...

Wrong.

> I am judging you entirely on the content of your articles.

Wrong.

The pretense of attack in some of my writings, such as "no_chriskingmandotcom_suffering_is_not_the_treatment_for_depression", is part of the subtle point I am making against psychiatrists, or other practitioners of wrongful authority. They are actually not attacks at all, merely assertive and constructive expressions of discontent and criticism.

'Normal' is left undefined by psychiatry.

This discussion of mine may be relevant (be sure to turn off reddit's default censorship settings):

Antidepressants are placebos and usually make people feel worse. Just look at all the sideeffects they have

Don't take them. Excercise and eat better and you'll be more likely to improve.

I mean, why would they be against psychiatry when they had paid their own money to go to school to become psychiatrists?

Actually, the pharmaceutical industry funds the education of psychiatrists. At least, that's how it works in the USA, where the DSM is considered a trade-secret of the APA, heavily protected by intellectual property rights. The truth is that anti-depressants are only an effective treatment for major depression. But in order to obtain medical treatment for ANY severe mental illness, most patients are required to take them along with their other medications.

Psychiatry: "Cloaking themselves in the language of a more esteemed profession..."

Psychotherapy: "...taking people's money and sending them off with a little bit of feces in their face."

Hitler's doctors didn't think twice about giving him all the meth he wanted... So in a way, Hitler is responsible for World War II. Smiley
