1  Other / Beginners & Help / Make a contribution to bitcointalk and get Merits. on: February 13, 2019, 02:53:20 PM
Hi, guys
I' ve noticed a problem with merits begging / merit giveaways etc. All these methods do not look legit adding value to our community but just make hype and thread bumping.

So I am here to try to solve the problem.

1. If you want to merit other bitcointalk users write here job/challenge post ("What needs to be done")

2. If you are completed the job and wants to get your merit just reply to the job post with a link.

Please read the forum rules before posting any jobs/challenges!!!

Peace Smiley

Whois is not that effective. You can pay to hide your identity. Who would like to have their personal
phone number & address listed on the internet?

Every other tools look legit

Whois is not effective in well-considered frauds, but most of the times behind scammers hiding not truly hackers but crackers and script kiddies. And you will see for example domain name registrant from Uganda, South Africa etc but the site is from "USA"...

I guess the best anti-scam tool is your common sense. We all know that there are a lot of scammers plowing the crypto verse that's why we should always be attentive and think before clicking anything we find in the web, in our emails.

So it we used our brains then I think we could stay away from those criminals and we can be safe all the time, just saying.

If we would rely only on common sense then we are fighting hackers "face to face". I mean oppose my skills versus hacker's skills and I am sure "bad guys" use lots of social and cyber-weapons( malicious software and hardware), so this is bare hands fight versus special forces fighter tempered in battles.

It is good if you are so confident, but it is not a solution for everyone. And some experts could argue with you https://blog.threatpress.com/security-design-principles-owasp/

Maybe you were once advised to “look for the padlock” as a means of telling legitimate e-commerce sites from phishing or malware traps. Unfortunately, this has never been more useless advice. New research indicates that half of all phishing scams are now hosted on Web sites whose Internet address includes the padlock and begins with “https://”.

I am using https://transparencyreport.google.com/safe-browsing/search to check web site safety. Hope google service will be useful for other people.
