1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon releases A9 Zmaster 50ksol/s Equihash miner at 620W on: September 02, 2018, 12:06:00 PM
I managed to update half of my miners with the new firmware. The other half has still the 6th of July version.
With the new firmware I get only 45kSols in Factory mode. Performace+ mode gives me 53kSols. With the 6th of July firmware I am getting 53kSols on any Perfomance settings. I set them to performance, just for the better feeling. Benefit of the old firmware is the faster ramping up to full speed.

So 6th of July compared to the recent firmware seems to be superior in my opinion, except if the new firmware shows less rejects on long term. I will see. Also we will see if they fixed the memory bug.

I'd be very curious to see if this fixes the memory leak issue. Interested to hear your results.
It seems not. But I dont know a sufficient way to tell, rather than looking at the uptime and the memory used.
In general I dont unterstand why it is such a big problem. It restarts the mining process automatically. I never had big problems, except the dip in hashrate. To keep the dip short, you should use the faster ramping up firmware. The new one seems not to be better.

Hashrates are the same. The performace settings are a joke. In every version I tested so far.

Very often when I get memory full issue, it does not restart the process automatically, and I must manually restart.

TeamCheck script finally got tested. and failed! I updated with a fix. Tested working!

One issue though. They went down at the same or close to the same time. Im not sure one had time to save the other. I may have a decentralization issue  Roll Eyes
Aw well. Ill leave them running. But I think I better run a check from my PC as well. I guess ill try and figure out the windows CURL command syntax issue or run from VM with a small linux, in case they do go down at the same time.

Hows it going with the new firmware guys? Fix the issue? Im gunna update after a nap. I need to redo all the script files if I do. so more than a couple of clicks and im tired.

I installed the new firmware on Aug13 and my A9 still stopped hashing/went offline the other night. Lost about 6 hours of mining while I slept. A9 was still on, but pool showed the miner missing and I couldn't access the box with a browser. Requires a power off-power on reboot every few days when this happens.
I had hoped the new firmware would have fixed that issue but I guess I'm going to have to use the smart plug I bought and figure out the IFTTT method of having the switch reboot when the box goes dark.

That's disappointing to hear.  I have the same issue and was hoping the new firmware fixed the problem.  I have a smart plug too, but not an ideal solution.  Sad

September batch available now, decent price drop as well. Looks like their competing with Bitmains pricing finally.

Still over-priced IMO considering how many miners will be coming online in September.  And it still doesn't compete with the $/performance of the Z9 Mini

I have updated one for testing. Ramping up to 50k Sols took much longer. So far I could not see a difference. Maybe they fixed the memory bug?

Nope, still not.

Is the memory issue a software bug or hardware problem?

Software.

If it's software why doesn't every miner have this issue?  Because only a minority of miners have this issue.

Hi,

Would like to report a crash/restart due to memory leak/ out of memory.  This happens maybe once every few days so far, so its not too important, but may end up reducing my share for a certain block if it cuts out at a bad time.

Anyone else get this?

I have the exact same issue.  Have not found a fix yet.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon releases A9 Zmaster 50ksol/s Equihash miner at 620W on: July 27, 2018, 12:19:34 PM
Guys I just bought one, and started to mine.

I saw around 40-42 K/SOLS all the time, not reaching 50. (I currently use nanopool)

I changed the performance mode still the same. Current Firmware is b29+_20180706_032013
6th of July 2018 03:20 AM , I haven't updated to new one yet.

First and second cards are ok at rate of 14-15 Kslols but third one stuck at 10Klsos.

Do you have any idea ? Thanks in advance.

Silicon lottery.  Not much that you're able to do about that.

Anyone know if mist is out of beta and safe to send some coins to ?

Mist is "safe" now... so long as you backup your keystores.

Both the Blocknet's block explorers' hosting services have expired. Not cool!

More like "Not surprised!"

Any project that I am not personally invested in is a scam.  No questions asked.  Case closed.

R3cev once again, bullish on ETH:

http://r3cev.com/blog/2015/11/22/the-weekend-read-nov-22

Excerpt:
The article attempts to paint the Ethereum experimentation as a potential "contentious issue" with two "camps" emerging: Ethereum blue sky experimenting vs R3 standards building on top of legacy systems. Yet it is very safe to say that our current and future work covers both of these "camps."
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 19, 2015, 04:50:04 PM
Let's paint a picture:

On Nov 17th, Ethereum's William Mougayar said 20-plus banks are testing on Ethereum (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ethereums-william-mougayar-20-plus-banks-testing-blockchains-outside-consortium-model-1529080)

Just now (Nov 19th), Mike Hearn of R3 (25 bank blockchain consortium) said on /r/bitcoin that R3 is looking at using Ethereum and NOT Bitcoin! Specifically, he said:

  • "It'd be a conflict of interest if there was any chance of banks adopting Bitcoin for the use cases they're looking at, things like moving fiat currencies around, managing post trade lifecycles, etc. But there is no such chance. The use cases they are looking at and requirements they have cannot be met with the Bitcoin protocol, it just doesn't have the things they need. They are actually spending a lot more time looking at Ethereum than Bitcoin, as it's more obvious how to apply it to their use cases.  But even if Bitcoin had all the features banks needed for what they want to do, their volumes are such that they wouldn't fit on a crippled 1mb-only block chain. Bitcoin can barely handle its existing user base without running out of capacity. Dropping existing inter-bank transactions onto it would simply not work."

When someone asked Mike Hearn to elaborate specifically on his statement that "They are actually spending a lot more time looking at Ethereum than Bitcoin," his response was:

  • "This stuff isn't really a secret: https://twitter.com/annairrera/status/639065607338598400/photo/1

As an example, try sketching out how to model a bond lifecycle with Bitcoin. I tried it in 2012 for the videod talk I gave in London. It requires absurd acrobatics for even a very simplified sort of bond and when you get into the real thing, forget it.  They are interested in Ethereum due to its more powerful scripting language (and, I suspect, its better reputation, as Ethereum has not yet been sullied by people using it for trading illegal things)."

Conclusions:
   1.  R3 / big banks are overlooking Bitcoin and instead opting for Ethereum.
   2.  Ethereum + R3 partnership all but confirmed[?]
   3.  Buy more ETH

Someone's been accumulating near 1m ETH this past 6 weeks... wonder what he'll do when he decides he has enough?

Vitalik just posted in /r/ethereum -- Ethereum just implemented anon-tx's!

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/3tappe/early_alpha_monerolike_linkable_ring_signatures/

Absolutely fabulous. Now we can have the greatness of anon coins such as Dash and Monero into a single decentralized platform. This is really good news. If Ethereum could keep up with this, we will be able to see it go to the moon! Time to buy some more.  Cheesy

TIL there exist ETH Maximalist Monopolist Supremacists.   Tongue

Single platforms are not "absolutely fabulous."  They are single points of failure and should be avoided in favor of resilient heterogeneous ecosystems.

This feature is more like Dash than Monero, because the (ad hoc) anonymization is not done to all coins at the protocol level.

TIL there exist XMR bagholders in ETH.

Interesting, so the OP doesn't have Ehtereum listed but the website does. So, the Ethereum project/devs is on-board with Blocknet?

Yes, Ethereum devs are on-board with Blocknet as shown on one of their own websites. See quote below:

Blocknet is listed in Ethereum's suite of DApps!  Here's the link: http://dapps.ethercasts.com
