For ten years, Melt and I along with several major contributors have done our best to bring you the best Linux mining system available.
We have had many successes, and many near misses. Though it all we have had the support of many miners, and we thank all of you for every minute of it.
We have reached a point where we are not able to move forward any more. We had many plans and ideas, and we just are no longer able to realize them all, for a large list of reasons.
We wish you continued success, and are sad we cannot be a part of it any longer.

We have put together our own tmate server, so your connection does not leave our domain - no piggybacking on someone elses services. I hope the new year brings great things to miners everywhere! We have a brand new 2.24.0 image to mine with, but that isnt all we have been working on... The 3.x image is coming! Built on the latest Ubuntu 20 with the latest drivers, it will include refreshed versions of our most popular tools and some amazing new ones too! this code dispute has nothing with do with other uses of gminer, which i enjoy and continue to support.
It begs the question though - how much other code in gminer is simply ripped off from other developers? How much original code is in gminer at all? Thieves are thieves.. |

There are two kinds of miners: Treasure Hunters, and True Believers.
This question "Is mining still profitable?" is what Treasure Hunters ask. In fact, the vast majority of miners get started because they are treasure hunting. Seeking reward through work is not a bad thing, but treasure hunting assumes you will do a LOT of work for a possibly giant payoff, but probably for nothing at all. Everyone wants to believe they are a winner though..
True Believers understand that the goal of mining is not profit or reward: those are tokens of appreciation for providing a service to the network. Mining is what makes any mineable crypto currency operate; it is how every transaction is validated, every block found is verified. Mining is the heartbeat of crypto, and without it most coin systems will fail.
So ask yourself: why do you want to mine? Are you seeking treasure, or do you believe in the network you are supporting, and in the future of crypto? Then you can properly decide if you should be mining in a down market.

What a weekend! It was busy and interesting but worth it! Thank you miner.farm users for being patient while we made this massive upgrade. As expected there was lots of the unexpected: even with the fantastic work of our beta team, there was just no way to know how the new infrastructure was going to perform until we put it into service. With some adjustments here and there, and a couple more servers in the right places, the site is now quite stable and ready to scale much further. There are of course a few more items to tweak and tune, as always, and we will be catching those up in the coming days. One of the new features in miner.farm is the ability to clear your own PIMP OS key. Previously, you would have to wait one hour or more between reimages of PIMP OS, but now you can reimage as often as you like with the click of a button. As much as I hate to say it, crypto needs a purge from all the shitcoins and clueless people that are in it for the quick-buck or get-rich-quick scheme.
It is 2015 all over again! You are 100% correct, IMHO: crypto isnt going away, just hitting the down side of the cycle. Lily |

At $3600 Bitcoin is still worth TEN TIMES what it was two years ago. That is still unbelievably good performance vs. traditional financial instruments.
If you just started mining, or mine for short term profit, the news is all bad, but if you are the least bit dedicated to crypto you know: this is hardly the end of mining.
We made the mistake once of believing mining was dead - boy were we wrong! Bitcoin came back with a vengeance, and brought ETH and others along with it. The tide is going back out for now, but like the ocean it will be back...
... And we will be here, ready to help you mine it all. Hang in there miners, we got your back.

I was wondering what program anyone is using to control the fan/clock/memory etc. I am new to linux and I am currently using lm-sensors to detect the gpu states. I can control the fan speed, but I can't control the clock and memory. I am using ubuntu 18.04. I was also wondering if anyone had any issues with Xorg using a lot of memory. I am mining with Aion and I am using amd cards and can use this miner on any pool?
Lolminer is included in PIMP OS! Simply by installing PIMP OS you will have instant access not only to the latest lolminer releases, but you will also be able to monitor all your card values in miner.farm, our web based rig management system. PIMP OS is a Linux mining distribution built on the latest Ubuntu LTS (18.04) with all the drivers and tools needed pre-installed, along with our suite of tools developed over the last 6 years of mining altcoins to make things as simple as possible. One of those tools is 'gputool'; a command line application for controlling your card values. You configure fans and clock values in a short JSON file, and gputool does the rest! Hey AMD miners! In case you missed it, we just added some new AMD cryptonight miners to our collection. Finally, good alternatives to Claymore! In particular, TeamRedMiner has done a great job; definitely one of the fastest AMD miners currently for this algo, and the sgminer API they used is solid and well established in our products, which translates to better monitoring and management for you.
