Thanks a lot Dev, I promise we will save your coin, and make it a success, just like you did in the beginning! Will you keep working on developments?

Yes, I'll simply be a contributor and a holder
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: June 11, 2014, 02:36:23 PM
NewWolfDev - please email me on insanitycoin@gmail.com to organize a migration over to you over the next couple of days.

250,000 WOLF has been destroyed in block 55e34fdb277f0d70bbac1564cf04a5db9b332c994e4150fe874f21b2efdf8de1 using transaction e5dc607e543f89d42a6162c6833621708f955cbc27847fa703e0f715284c79ff.

An additional 11 WOLF was destroyed by test transactions.

update: checkpoints at block 35000 added and main nodes updated
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: June 02, 2014, 07:55:18 PM
I'm destroying 250,000 coins now, I'll reply with the block index once done. Circa 74k coins will then remain for various ideas which have been discussed previously, and which we'll discuss and confirm in due course.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: June 02, 2014, 04:07:08 PM
Sadly the first game was exploited by short term holders and had to be stopped
That is a little insulting.  Wasn't the whole point of this game to decide on a strategy, whether short term or long, and see who could make the most profit?  (1000% myself before dropping out due to predicting the price fall)

Personally I think the main problem was changing the schedule and game rules halfway through the game.  People became discouraged and pulled out, like me.

Apologies I didn't mean anything negative, to rephrase: a couple of short term traders with relatively large amounts of BTC outplayed both each other and the other holders to come out "on top", those who didn't come out on top and simply held or acquired pushed me personally toward stopping the game phase and trying to take different approaches.

Moving forward there are three possibilities:
1) I create the new features as and when I have time
2) Somebody else takes over and develops whatever as and when they have time (although nothing stops them doing that already..)
3) People help and contribute to the project as and when they have time and things to commit, perhaps with me moving to more of a technical lead position.

I would vote for option 1 if you can agree with the following:
- you update the thread every 2 or 3 days even if nothing has happened on the development side (which is understandable) just to keep the community updated
- when you say that you will deliver something on a defined date, either you deliver it or you update the community as soon as you know you won't be able to respect the deadline
- you keep a few WOLF batches aside for development funds and promotion. As soon as you deliver a new feature, you get a batch to compensate for your work

That sounds good and more than viable, thank you for your constructive suggestion Smiley I'll confirm tomorrow either way, but feel I go for this. The update to the thread regardless of if there's any new features is pivotal and more than possible. Previously I'd felt pressure to deliver something with each update, but a "things are on course" show's I'm still around and active. Hopefully combined with some other contributers this can make all the difference.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: June 02, 2014, 02:00:11 PM
I agree with most of the comments here, especially capsized when you mention that it really should have been two separate coins. Sadly the first game was exploited by short term holders and had to be stopped, then the bag holders demanded something to be done to to get the coin up to or above the original value, so my hands became tied to the development.

First things first, if one or more of you can get your miners going on the network, I'll destroy the remaining coins let a few blocks go past and update checkpoints, then they are taken out of the equation.

If 2 happens then I'll move to privately developing my own coin and release it when finished / make it minable when finished, rather than having coins floating around during development (as ethereum have). Options 3 or 1 seem better, even if 2 clearly is the easiest path.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: June 02, 2014, 05:57:00 AM
If somebody else would like to take over the project, or assist me that's fine - however this is not the way to go about it. Additionally I can't just hand over a large amount of WOLF to anybody, especially somebody who would attempt to use such approaches. If the project is to be handed over then (a) all existing WOLF would be destroyed first to rule out the possibility of somebody dumping it it all, and (b) certain things which I view as my own intellectual property (i.e. as yet unreleased work, web miner management software) would not be handed over - other assets such as existing released code, domain, twitter+forum account would be included.

I'll speak to some investors and associates today, and see what they want to do. Will update shortly.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: May 23, 2014, 04:43:53 PM
If you can prove to us that it has been destroyed then please destroy it.

I can do a custom transaction where the fee is equal to the send amount, removing the amount from circulation and depleting the complete supply. All checks in ***coin programs only check against additional coin creation, not against coin destruction.

There appears to be some split feedback on whether to destroy the coins or go ahead with an IPO.

Personally I feel that an IPO when the coin is relaunched with new branding and an end to end implementation of web mining could be very constructive, and provide much needed buy support (and additional destruction) and don't want to negate the possibility of this. We also need to agree a budget for development and marketing. Further, some people already bought from the supply at a price notably higher than the current market price, and thus need some form of supplement.

Proposal Thus, I'd like to suggest the destruction of 200,000 WOLF, leaving 125k potentially available for later IPO(s) and a budget, if agreed. If not then we'll destroy these coins as well.

If there is no reasonable objection to this proposal within the next 24 hours then I'll destroy the coins tomorrow.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: May 23, 2014, 07:24:46 AM
I'll be working on WOLF tonight and all over the weekend.

Important: I've heard a lot of call to destroy the remaining WOLF supply, does anybody object to this happening over the weekend?

Will catch up and reply this evening when I'm free again.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: May 17, 2014, 11:09:17 PM
NWO: any idea how to start the price raise? The price of the batches is obviously not possible any more. Will it be replaced by an updates version or do you have another idea?

If the past few weeks have shown anything, it's that technical merit drives demand. Let's not try to run before we can walk.

The bigger picture is that roughly half the coins in existence are distributed already, the other half remains to be distributed, and it'll take over a year to mine even 10% of the coins available (and much much longer thereafter).

The distribution of remaining coins does need simplified however, perhaps split in to 3-4 IPO rounds where all funds acquired make buy walls. The matter needs discussed in more detail, NWO and I have started to discuss, and will in more detail this week - all thoughts and comments are welcome in this respect. There's also the issue of a development and marketing budget which has never been discussed, but given the growing scope of the project now compared to a 9 week game, some provision may need to be made.

For now forging ahead with technical progress, rebranding, and relaunching should do much to have a positive impact and drive demand.

I think the community has spoken - new ann it is.

Any volunteers to proof read and give feedback (tomorrow) before it I post it to the public? (edok?)

MsCollec: simple, in browser mining. It opens mining up to multiple devices, and also provides an alternative monetization approach to website owners. If you consider a small website with say 1000 visitors per day, each mining an average of 3 shares. That single website owner thus mines 3000 shares of the coin per day, which can be a source of revenue, or donation to charity, or revenue split on a forum, or larger shares to unlock downloadable content, and so forth. It also allows in-game mining (web or console).. as a side note.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: May 17, 2014, 12:01:37 AM
has poloniex updated with the new version?

I am as yet unsure, it looks like it but waiting on confirmation via email from Tristan.

Should I start promoting this yet or should we wait until rebrand? I'm on the Twitters.

Share as you like, I can't see any reason to hold up until a new logo appears, it doesn't make any substantial difference to the concept of the thing Smiley

mini update: Had the miner working working on ps3 earlier, optimising and wrapping it up tomorrow am to update the demo's.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: May 16, 2014, 01:00:04 PM
The WebMining demo currently requires Web Workers as it's a multithreaded version.

I'm going to work on a version which conditionally decides which features to use so we can begin testing on multiple devices.

For example the current version works on my desktops (500k-1.6m hps), laptops(250-600k hps), and android tablets (50-100k per second hps), but not my mobile or ps3 (no web worker support).

Please help test by opening the link and report if you get a great speed (500k+) slow speed (less than 100k), or it simply fails to load.

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=471166.msg6761708#msg6761708 for main chain mining setup details.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] Project WOLF on: May 16, 2014, 12:02:15 PM
Mining Clarification
The Web Mining demo on the website is just a demo, it attempts to mine a valid genesis block for a new random chain every time you load the page - it is not yet connected to either the testnet or main wolf chain - this is the next step which is dependent on the Miner Manager (in development).

WOLF can however be mined in the traditional manner, setup insanitycoin-qt or insanitycoind (or a pool), and point scrypt miners at it (for example cgminer 3.5).

InsanityCoin.conf
Code:
rpcuser=myusername
rpcpassword=mypassword
rpcport=55445
testnet=0
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
gen=0
addnode=5.9.111.71

If you'd like to test your miners then you can point them at: stratum+tcp://5.9.111.71:3333/ -u admin.anything -p anythinghere this is a test stratum pool for the main chain, any blocks mined on this will go in to the pool of WOLF coins to be sold or destroyed.

Feedback Request
If the web mining demo doesn't run for you, please let me know with your device, operating system, and browser version.
Similarly, if you get a speed over 500,000 hashes per second please also let me know. So far the highest I've measured is 1.6m hash per second using chrome on ubuntu on my best machine at home.

Finally, please see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=611024.new#new for a competition for logo rebranding.

Besides poloniex?

None yet, purely because we had a 10% fee on transactions to keep it locked at Poloniex whilst going through phase 1. The transaction fee was removed yesterday so we can look at getting it on multiple exchanges now.

BIGGER UPDATE: Project WOLF Announced, Web Mining, New QT, Mining Begun, TX-fee removed

notes: mining has already started yesterday, poloniex is still to update their client but will shortly I'm sure, other nodes all updated.

Comments and feedback welcome, next up rebranding for Project WOLF.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] InsanityCoin Phase Two - coin for investors and traders on: May 14, 2014, 07:45:40 PM
Phase 2 is still on the cards, however if there's no more movement soon it may change in price a little (in which case anybody who bought from phase 2 will be topped up), move to being managed IPO style by poloniex with the current prices, or we may abandon it all together, destroy the coins, and refund the purchases in the pot. Seeking guidance on this matter over the next few days and will be discussing with NWO and all of you hopefully.

I vote to try to raise the price, as agreed in phase 2. Hopefully this is still possible, as there are huge amounts of BTC on the way to 0.001 BTC...

I have a feeling they would move on the way up, time will tell.

People have already started mining WOLF which is good. Main node is updated, awaiting confirmation from Poloniex and Pompobit.

Swapped back to working on the new features, will need a few of you to test web mining in the next 24-36 hours. I'll post links here when it's up and working (or should I say it's working, just need to make it cosmetically nice).
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] InsanityCoin Phase Two - coin for investors and traders on: May 14, 2014, 06:03:24 PM
Sorry I'd missed this earlier, I haven't read through the past couple of pages of replies yet.

Now, what I'm concerned about is what happened to the phase 2 funds.
Why and where were they moved without a comment from dev?
What happens to phase 2 in general?

First and most importantly, I used 0.65 BTC from the funds about a week ago to pay for the wolf mining rig for the week, as frankly I'm out of crypto myself and holding alts which are all down in value, I'm also currently in the process of migrating to a new bank account so cannot replace it for a couple of days. By saturday, monday at the latest I'll have personal BTC again and will replace the 0.65. I should have updated the thread and asked before hand, I can only apologise, a stupid decision on my own part.

UPDATE: Removal of tx fee and new block reward

The following has all been implemented:

  • 2 minute blocks, 12 hour diff retarget
  • removal of percentage based fee, replace with a traditional fixed 0.002 WOLF fee
  • a block reward of 0.48 WOLF for 17 weeks, this will produce 27417.6 WOLF (1612.8 per week)
  • a block reward of 0.24 WOLF for 26 weeks, this will produce 20966.4 (806.4 per week)
  • a permanent block reward of 0.12 WOLF thereafter (this will produce 20966.4 per year)

Github has been updated, windows-qt is coming shortly from Pompobit, and I've contacted Poloniex to get them to update their daemon.

Important: Do not send any new transactions over the WOLF network until the main nodes are updated and you are using the latest qt!

I'll update the thread shortly when the migration to the new configuration is complete on the main nodes and our windows qt is compiled and uploaded.

Thanks.

I'm about to start compiling & testing that the new client and blockchain configuration is working correctly.

Regarding mining pools, would the community / anybody like to set one up, or an existing pool add the coin, would you prefer to solo mine, or should I create a pool for wolf, or?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WOLF] InsanityCoin Phase Two - coin for investors and traders on: May 12, 2014, 08:15:14 PM
update I'm implementing the following now:

  • removal of percentage based fee, replace with a traditional fixed 0.002 WOLF fee
  • a block reward of 0.48 WOLF for 17 weeks, this will produce 27417.6 WOLF (1612.8 per week)
  • a block reward of 0.24 WOLF for 26 weeks, this will produce 20966.4 (806.4 per week)
  • (optional - codified) a permanent block reward of 0.12 WOLF thereafter (this will produce 20966.4 per year)
  • (optional) move to PoS, or other

We'll discuss the following in due course, for now it's important to get miners in and supporting the network, and some forward momentum. We'll gather comments on moving forward for a long term mining strategy over the coming days and weeks.

New client will be released in two batches, first set of clients will update to the new network, the next set of clients in a few days will feature new branding (still being discussed).
