1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Israel Bitcoin Conference July 28-29, 2014 on: June 28, 2014, 09:33:09 PM
Is there a code to get the $259 price? On the page it says $270 and asks for a code. I am looking at flight options now for the conference. Thanks.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase buy volume too high for today (Not selling at Market Price) on: February 25, 2014, 01:28:17 AM
This happened to me in the last hour. I had a buy go through at coinbase. Then literally 5 minutes later I decided to do another buy.

They also give the following information:

"Due to higher than normal buy volumes, we are unable to provide exact price quotes right now.

Instead of pausing buys entirely, we decided to give people the option to purchase bitcoin at the market price in a few days. Once your USD funds arrive, we will exchange them to bitcoin at the market price at approximately Friday Feb 28, 2014 at 06:37PM CST.

Note that you can cancel your order at any time up until your [Suspicious link removed]ive from the transfer history page.

The market price of bitcoin changes frequently. Below are some recent prices to give you an idea. These do not guarantee what the price will be in a few days."

IF no one can buy bitcoin there will not be much support for the price.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox just verified me! on: February 25, 2014, 01:18:07 AM
I applied in early January. It took over a month for them to verify me. But, they did a couple weeks ago. Luckily I did not get around to funding the account before all the recent problems started.

If you live in the US I agree that Coinbase works well. I also have used Bitstamp.net with success. Of course the price of Bitcoin has fallen the past couple weeks. But, it is often the best time to invest when there is blood on the street.
6  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coinbase just cancelled my BTC purchase, after the price went up on: February 16, 2014, 07:53:21 PM
Not to defend coinbase too much. But, I ended up on the lucky side of the equation with them. I tried to buy BTC at over 900 and they returned the money a few days later as BTC fell. Then I tried buying more in the 800 range and once again they denied my trade only a few days later and returned the money after BTC fell. I continued more verification and finally as BTC fell to the 700's I was able to buy with Coinbase. Since that time they have not denied my transactions to buy BTC. See below for exact numbers.

One thing I notice is that sometimes right before I buy from coinbase the price will change. Sometimes it increases and sometimes it decreases. If it was only increasing I would be worried.

Here are the dates and prices for my early orders that were canceled after a few days and then finally completed.

Buy    xxx BTC        760.76 USD    Completed    Feb 6, 2014
Buy    xxx BTC         840.63 USD    Canceled    Jan 12, 2014
Buy    xxx BTC        845.24 USD    Canceled    Jan 10, 2014
Buy    xxx BTC        929.86 USD    Canceled    Jan 6, 2014

EDITED above to include more details.
