Full Node finally finished the blockchain sync. Any guess as to when we will need to upgrade the 500gb to something bigger?

2 years
Full Node disk space additions without address index and also ignoring blocks/index:

Dec 6.1G
Jan 6.4G
Feb 5.8G
Mar 6.4G
Apr 5.8G
May 6.4G

So going on 6.1G a month and a 512GiB drive holds 460GB in disk space (and ignoring anything else there)
and current is 383G, the answer would appear to be 12.6 months - if you let it fill up and didn't care about it failing due to that.

Just hope there's way less transactions due to a lower BTC price, and I guess then it may make it to 2 years?

Hi FutureBit gang,

I have a Full BTC Node running fantastically, mostly unattended except for the few times I got it dusted off. I noticed that disk is almost full with space remaining at 3.31%. I am wondering if there is a recommended upgrade path and instructions I should follow. Thanks for your help!!

PS: Seems like phiplipma1957 has already cloned the original 500GB into a 1TB NVMe disk using a replicator. I did not see any more updates on this issue so I can just assume it did work just fine. Here the BOM for the gig from Philip ...

Hummm, interesting, so my full node is not validating transactions from everyone else even when connected to the publicj network? If I do not make transactions on my own then what is the point? how is that we are helping the network?

Are full LTC nodes getting any rewards for validating transactions? maybe a silly question or already answered before. Thanks

No, you don't get any reward for running a LTC full node.
You are validating blocks and their transactions only for the integrity of your local blockchain copy not for anybody else. Though once you are synched people can also download blocks from you.

I found my FULL node locked up this morning similar to JOTA_US, in my case I have the Apollo full version from FutureBit so wonder HW setup is not an issue perhaps. Would you think something happenned to some FuutureBiot nodes while interacting with the Litecoin network to cause this?

In my case, I was able to log in to the appollo and browse both minr and node dashboards, try to re-start things but nothing worked until I power off/on the box. I noticed I had to start the node again after the miner started doing its thing.

Batch-3 Apollo Miner - full node is up and running !! Along with its siblings Batch-1 (3) and Batch-2 (1) ... Happy mining

Got my Apollo LTC up and running today. I got the full package including power supply and pre-loaded Micro-SD card. Got it up and running pointing to litecoinpool.org in 5 minutes including unboxing. Currently inside the house due it is close to 95 F in the garage. Thanks FutureBit team.

Very cool! I was also impressed by how fast everything was to get up and running. Question, if you did not notice my post...is your power supply fan spinning? Can you tell how hot your power supply is? Mine is warm to the touch running balanced mode around 40C.

Apollo LTC has been running for about 3 hours and its power supply fan turns intermittently for about 5-10 seconds then goes off for several minutes, I have not measured it but feels like fan turns every 10-15 minutes or so. It feels warm but it is very quiet. the Apollo's fan noise is noticeable but very comfortable to run it on my desk table top. I am currently running on ECO mode but will crank it up to balanced mode when I get it on the miners rack in the garage.

Home's thermostat is set to 74 F

Hash rate -> 103 Mh/s
Miner temp -> 68 C
MCU temp -> 62 C

Latest firmware is pretty solid. 2 miners have been running 5 days no issues so far. both at Balanced mode, fan is in automatic setting. ~121 Mh/s, Miners temp ~65-68C, MCU temp ~40-47C. The miner which had the locking incident always runs at a higher temperature but within the same range. Keep it solid.

After last night overheating incident. I decided to speed up my quest to find a better power supply (quiet than my current Bitmain APW3), I had the suspicion that APW3 is way too much of a PSU for these FutureBit Appollo miners, at least in terms of noise levels but potentially on power too.

I am running two Apollo miners in our family room, the home thermostat is set to 68F (~20C) on central heating so the temperature is pretty constant all day and night. This afternoon after paying a visit to Fry's electronics store I got a Corsair RM 650x PSU, figure out how to jump start the ATX mother board signal and got the whole setup going. The noise levels are not only tolerable but insanely low compared with the APW3 previous setup.  The new PSU fan barely turns on due the threshold is around 230W and even loading the two Apollo miners it has not gone over that threshold at this time yet.

I will keep monitoring the Apollo miner that got overheated and definitely report back if it happens again. Currently this Miner is running at 67C and and MCU at 63C, sometimes the MCU temperature is higher than the sensor of the miner shows. The first Apollo miner I got is running cooler 65C and MCU 58C and I have not seen anytime when its MCU temperature is higher than the miner sensor, so for some reason my newest Miner MCU is running nominally warmer than the oldest one. If helps I can send the serial number on the boards so you guys can check on vendor's part batches.

I am hoping to get all my power and LAN setup work completed by end of this week and move the miners to a definitely cooler place, the garage should be between 32F and 40F, guess that will help with keeping the miners temperature pretty low, hope running close to Zero C is not going to be a problem.

I will check for the firmware upgrade!! Thanks everyone!

Have the same overheating problem last night. I have two Apollo miners, the newest of them have been running for 30 hours this week and got overheated, FAN and LED in red stayed on all night but not mining and it was flaming hot until this morning. I pull power off and let it cool,

It is back up and running now. I have not changed any settings still running on the factory ECO settings. Should I leave the fan on at 25% or so all the time? any recommendations?

Thanks!

I got my FutureBit Apollo miner today, easy install/setup and now it is happily mining.

I connected to it by opening http://futurebit.local on my browser. If I add a second or third Apollo box in the same network what is the expected DNS name to us? perhaps someone who has multiple miners running already know.

Thanks !!
