2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 4.1c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: January 25, 2019, 10:56:20 AM
This happened to me before, maybe few times. When eu1 didn't worked, us1 worked. If there is a technical problem, eventually they will fix it. But you should just add two servers in the config file anyway, one for -pool and one for -pool2:

-pool ssl://eu1.ethermine.org:5555 -pool2 ssl://us1.ethermine.org:5555
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Centralized v/s Decentralized on: January 25, 2019, 10:39:48 AM
Unfortunately while the Bitcoin network is decentralized, its price is somewhat centralized. I believe that the jump from $10.000 to $20.000 was centralized manipulation, and some parts of the bear market after that. It was basically a giant Pump & Dump scheme. Now people want the crypto to go back to the Moon, but obviously this is not the best thing that can happen Smiley

Otherwise blockchain is just a fancy database. Normal centralized databases are simply files located on a single server. Or few servers, but only for backup reasons. There is one owner of the database who can change it every time he wants, he has the control of the data. In blockchain we don't want anyone to exclusively control all the data and that's why it is designed as a decentralized database - database that exists on many locations at the same time, but is designed in a way so that any person owns only small fraction of it - his own address.

Taja, I just updated PhoenixMiner from 4.0b to 4.0c on a rig that mines at eu1. I don't see connection problems on both versions, but my address is like this: eu1.ethermine.org:5555.

I tried eu1.ethpool.org now and I have this error: Unable to establish secure connection to ssl://eu1.ethpool.org:3333: wrong version number
5  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 25, 2019, 10:04:19 AM
Playboi, $59 theme is $73.20. I think you need someone without these VAT problems, especially if you don't have VAT in your country and those extra % are too much.

I registered Telegram: @WhiteCoconut. How cool that this cute username is available everywhere Smiley
6  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 25, 2019, 04:00:31 AM
I received messages from people, but there is a limit and I can only 2 PMs a day. I'm sorry that I can't answer now. I may give Telegram or Skype later... or not. I'm starting to think that it's better if I am contacted by PM first, so I can see the profile in the forum and investigate it. Meanwhile I did a successful first small trade with a guy who contacted me Wink

@magemist, we learn with our mistakes. Now I understand a little bit more how to spot a scammer in this forum. So I can only thank him. But he could profit more from me if he was a honest trader. $25 will be just the premium that I will give to someone else, many times in the future.

@AdolfinWolf, I think that 25% or more is too much. In VirWoX the fee was... I don't know, maybe 15% or less, depending on the exchange rates. And they were doing this for years! Now they stopped because PayPal dumped them, not because they lost money in countless disputes.
7  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 10:25:46 PM
Playboi, I selected random item in ThemeForest and it looks that they have Handling Fee and VAT for my country. Take a look: http://prntscr.com/mbs0h3 This is 37% extra. The Handling Fee is less % for more expensive stuff, but the VAT is more than 20%. This method is interesting, but it seems to be very expensive Smiley

It looks that I can only send 1 personal message per hour. Even if I get countless messages from newbies, I will not be able to answer to all of them Cheesy

Loki888, I'm looking at the Trust, but his was clear. Now it's red because of me. His account was registered a month ago.

AdolfinWolf, maybe I just need to find some trusted seller with high fees, but I also wanted to gain some Trust here and this takes a topic like this and 6 months  Undecided

EDIT: What the... "You have exceeded the limit of 2 personal messages per day. Buying a Copper membership may increase your limit." I can't communicate with anyone here  Huh

Ok, so I sent some money to a scammer. Here are his details:

LigaUIO (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2510207)

email: teneeseusa21@gmail.com
tele @Pikorolitos991
skype live:techviem1
His name in PayPal: Humbertin Proanos

He deleted his posts here.
I'm really not for $25, that's very, very cheap. Someone else wants to scam me?
9  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 06:45:36 PM
Playboi, what are those items? By the way I don't understand Paxful - when I search in it, all the results I get say "Seen over a week ago", it looks to me like some abandoned place  Huh
10  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 06:15:02 PM
CoinKingHH, I don't mind sending 500€ eventually, when there is a mutual trust. But I think that exchanging smaller amounts is just mandatory for two newbies.
11  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 06:02:58 PM
Well, obviously I'm also a newbie right now Smiley That's why I want to try small amounts first - for me to feel safer and for the other person as well. This is also how it happened in VirWoX - the first payment I made there was like $20 and I had to wait some time before making another payment.

I will check those private messages. I don't remember disallowing them, this is probably some default setting.
12  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 05:44:48 PM
Why do some people have such (large) minimum? I saw this somewhere else and I don't see the logic in this. Both, PayPal and cryptos are very divisible and it's possible to send any small amounts. It's generally a good practice to first try with small amounts. I always do that when I want to try some new exchange for example.
13  Economy / Currency exchange / [HAVE] PayPal [WANT] Bitcoin, Ethereum... even XRP :) on: January 24, 2019, 04:26:16 PM
Yes, I am a newbie here. I was using VirWoX to buy Bitcoin, but they don't accept PayPal anymore and here I am. In my PayPal account I receive money every day from my website and my plan is to use some of them to accumulate Bitcoin. I'm well aware that PayPal is a risky method for buying Bitcoin, but it's also accumulating time and some people just want to buy.

I would send PayPal first as Friends & Family. From what I know, such payment can still be reversed if the money are coming from card or a bank account. But I'm using the PayPal balance and I can show that in TeamViewer or something like that if needed.

Initially I want to try relatively small payments, less than $100. It's risky for me too. I agree to pay some premium until I gain some green Trust Smiley If nothing happens... well, what can I do...

EDIT: Telegram: @WhiteCoconut
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Heeeeelp - biosmod rx 580 8gb on: January 23, 2019, 04:20:00 PM
I have one rig with such cards and I patched them back in December 2017, so I probably forgot the exact steps, but I will try to remember. They mine at 32.2 MH/s with PhoenixMiner. By the way, one of them burned out like 2 months ago, I don't know why.

To patch the BIOS, I used PolarisBiosEditor, version 1.6.6. I don't remember from where I got it, but it has a button ONE CLICK TIMING PATCH. My settings look like this: http://prntscr.com/mb51k7 I remember playing a lot with the voltage settings to lower the power consumption and I obviously modified them, but those GPUs still eat a lot of electricity - almost 1 KW (6 GPUs). Now that I have only 5 of them, they consume 800 W from the wall.

I used DDU (Device Driver Uninstaller) every time I wanted to install new drivers. Otherwise it becomes very messy, especially with nVidia cards. For the drivers, search Google for "amd blockchain driver". I see I have a file named Win10-64Bit-Crimson-ReLive-Beta-Blockchain-Workloads-Aug23.exe.

After installing the drivers, I used some tool to patch them. The file I have is named atikmdag-patcher-1.4.6.zip. Without this, the hashrate is lower.
15  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying BTC for PayPal! on: January 23, 2019, 12:25:12 PM
Well, I called PayPal to hear them, they say that it's impossible to fill a deal dispute if sent as friend and family. Unless the buyer contacts his/her bank and say that their account was stolen. Which of course makes deal disputes harder, but not impossible. I understand this is a really shitty situation.

I'm also a newbie who wants to turn PayPal into BTC Smiley

What if we have PayPal balance and for the payment we use that balance, not using any card or bank in the process? Maybe TeamViewer can be used as a proof that the payment is F&F and the PayPal funds are used? Is that reversible?
