After launching an ICO with a 25m Hard Cap and raising somewhere between 8m and 20m, it is difficult to know exact figures as they have not been released. Originally set for a DAPP configuration, it seems there may have been a change of direction.
Anyway, let's get past the nitty gritty side of the promises and check out the delivery.
Why is a company that raised 8-20m, that promised a decentralized system and a social network that would operate over blockchain, delivering a 3rd party messenger solution that they quite literally lease? As shown in screengrabs above, they are using Quickbox.
I also realized something else there that has not been considered, they promised that the users would be in charge of their data yet they have no GDPR declarations, information or terms relating to data security and ownership. They do not state clearly, anywhere, they are transferring your data over an XMPP server. Neither do they state anywhere that they aren’t directly in control of the system nor that there is a real world vulnerability on the privacy of their users based on utilizing a third party provider?
They promised blockchain would be underpinning the network, yet the data is centralized on servers and in databases rather than decentralized data storage on the blockchain.
This non-blockchain element may well be down to this only being Beta testing, but begs the question: How can you test a system is properly functioning if all the elements aren’t in play?
