1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: mining litecoins with new r7 250 on: December 30, 2013, 07:55:21 PM
Havent had access to many cards Sad My previous one was a 6670, but I was lucky enough to get the only card with defective OpenCL in the whole city, so I cant say how much it can do. I use the hardware comparison charts to have an idea about what to expect.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / mining litecoins with new r7 250 on: December 30, 2013, 05:23:36 PM
I got a new AMD card to replace my old, tried to do some litecoin mining test and found that even when the R7 250 OC is supposed to be like a 7750 or similar, it only does 17khash instead of 300 as I expected. Mining bitcoins produce around 100Mhash. Im using cgminer running in Fedora 19 64 bits. Any suggestions to tweak perfomance with this card?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / LTC online wallet? on: December 06, 2013, 03:37:57 PM
First of all, I know online wallets are inherently unsafe, but  my internet connection is so slow that I cant wait for the litecoin client to synch with the network and I plan to exchange them as soon as I mine them, at least in the beginning. Is there any litecoin online wallet? I googled about and seems that btc-e is recommended, as vircurex, even when they are not wallets, but exchange sites. But btc-e seems to be facing some trust issues. Any other choice or suggestions?

My internet connection is so slow that I can only download one week per night and I would like to switch to a lite client. The problem is that Im not clear about how to transfer my bitcoins to the new wallets. I still have a 0.02 payment that havent been synchronized to my current wallet, how can I transfer it to electrum or multibit?
5  Other / Beginners & Help / recommended bitcoin stores on: December 03, 2013, 12:47:55 PM
Hi, I would like to buy some components and I looking for reliable bussiness with decent prices. So far I know http://bitelectronics.net/ and http://bitcoinstore.com/, but the prices are insane, bitcoinstore is charging almost $338 for a mere 500Gb hard disk (bitelectronics is a bit cheaper). I know that they have to protect themselves in some way against the risks of a fluctuating currency, but 3 times the normal price  is too much. Can somebody recommend me another site?

I dont know if Im actally mining something or if Im just wasting my time, can somebody explain me what does this means and how does it affect the overall result?

Electricity is free for me. Also, I use GPU, but have an spare Xeon server doing mostly nothing, so I put 3 of its cores to mine. But the pool is charging me 10% instead of 2% for using old protocol.

10  Other / Beginners & Help / alternatives to trading bitcoins on: May 13, 2013, 01:16:01 PM
Hi all
I have restarted mining after some time, mostly because I lack interest on it and the trading system was a bit complex for me. My situation is that I have to use some friend outside my country as proxy, as I dont have a bank account and also transfers to my country are not reliable. Mtgox requires that the associated bank acocunt should belong to the mtgox account owner, and thats a problem for me. Is there any easier (and reliable) way to trade my bitcoins and send the money to Paypal or to my friends bank account?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: blocks not downloaded on: July 07, 2011, 02:53:49 PM
Thanks for the help! By the way, if I remove the whole config folder (I use linux, so it is .bitcoin), what happens to my addresses? Should I save the wallet.dat file?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / blocks not downloaded on: July 07, 2011, 11:41:33 AM
After asking here why my transaction wasnt completed after 3 days, I found that the bitcoin client must download the complete block list before starting to process transactions. But my client seems to be stucked at 18060 blocks since days ago and there are no signs of changing that. Is there any way to solve that? I have 0.1 floating somewhere that I cant use and I dont know if I should continue mining if I cant get my bitcoins.

The block count is stucked at 18060 since a long ago. I will leave it the whole night to see what happens.

what linux distro are you using? You can start any script after the boot process is finishing by using /etc/rc.d/rc.local (in Centos, but it is pretty similar in Gentoo). You can execut thre same scrit 6 times, if needed and you program supports running several instances.
Check the app parameters, maybe you can supply the config file

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where is my 0.1? on: July 04, 2011, 01:02:56 PM
I copied and pasted the address from my client, Im using the one that was there when I first ran it. Perhaps I should generate a new address?
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Where is my 0.1? on: July 04, 2011, 12:50:26 PM
I started mining in mid june, and last week I reached 0.1, the threshold I set to transfer the bitcoins to my address. I got the transfer notification mail, and even a link to blockexplorer, but when i open the bitcoin client, I dont see any amount and no transactions are registered. I have waited but after an hour, still no transactions and I have no idea about how to use that 0.1. Can somebody clarify me? Should I wait several hours with the client active?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / underestanding diablo miner on: June 21, 2011, 03:19:56 PM
I have been using DiabloMiner for a few days, and even when I have googled some basic information, i still have a few doubts. For example, I guess that mhash could be my processing power, which usually (in my case) displays 5.x/5.x. What means each number? Current and average mhash? Another doubt is about parameter -f. As I underestand it, regulates the computing power, but larger numbers means more power? whats the default value if -f is not specified?
19  Other / Beginners & Help / newbie questions on: June 17, 2011, 01:39:14 PM
Hi all
Yesterday I decided to give a try to bitcoin and see what happens, today, I have a couple of newbie questions. I think that mining is my best choice, I have a geforce 9500 video card so I downloaded DiabloMiner for Linux, registered an account at mining.bitcoin.cz and started working. My first question is: should I keep the mining software working without interruptions or can I stop it whenever I need the computing power? The second question, do I need bitcoind to be running while my miner works? Why?
